Alright art family! So I've asked this question a while back and now I am actually ready to invest in this big dream of mine. This past year I have delved into digital artworks, using 'ibis paint x' on my phone to draw pieces for most of my characters. I am nearly drawing every single day and I am absolutely in love with the process it takes to make these beauties. Still, I can see the difference in many other artworks done by all of you amazing artists! There is a certain sheen, smooth, glossy finish in them that I have not yet mastered and I don't think I will ever do so on a phone. I still have a long way to go, but I believe that I have come far already.
Now the dilemma here is....I want to buy a digital drawing pad. I have heard a few suggestions and did research for several months, but I do not trust my judgement here and seeing that I'll be spending an arm and a leg I do not want to be wrong in my choice.
What do you use? Why? What should I expect? How do they work? Give me all the juicy details and any help you think I may need cause it just might be the deciding factor for me.

I’ll get to you soon when I find out the name of my Tablet (art pad, whatever)
Whilst I own a Cintiq now (and they're amazing!) my first tablet was a Wacom Intuos, which served me perfectly up until recent months when I could finally afford a Cintiq.
I fully recommend an Intuos model to start out with. They come in various sizes and packages, and have wonderful little features.
Your best bet might be to have a browse through Wacom's website.

Whew, the Cintiq is expensive. I was hoping to have something that was a touch screen instead of a pad that connects to the computer. I can see myself getting overly aggrivated trying to find my spot again. X3
I use a Wacom Cintiq 22HD (well worth the expense), but my screenless tablet before that was a Wacom Intuos4 (medium size). Lasted me several years and got the job done without my hand cramping due to lack of space. Definitely go for a larger tablet to avoid getting repetitive stress injuries or tendinitis.
It really is a great start though. I find that using a Monitor one is really Aggrivating to use. A Wacom art tablet really is a great way to get into tablet drawing. There is a few monitor ones for $389 dollars though. You can use Huion LB4
I currently use the Wacom Intros Pro and I adore it. It's definitely different than using something that's touch screen (writes directly where your pen is) but the adjustment isn't terrible in my opinion. Once you get used to watching the screen while your hand is elsewhere, it becomes effortless. I highly, highly recommend Wacom if you get a tablet though. I've had tablets made by other brands before and, in my opinion, they simply don't compare to Wacom. They may be more expensive, but they are well worth the money!
Good luck to you on your searches!

I just got rid of mine. I mean, it's okay, but because the glass is so thick, the pen sensitivity is weird and there's always a huge gap between the stylus and the cursor.
Go for huion if you want off brand. I hear it's better.
Setting up my ugee was annoying too. It was sturdy though! But I didn't really like it and traded it with a friend for his small cintiq since he needed a bigger screen and I needed a more responsive one.
