(Might be some spoilers in this post, you've been warned-)
I really liked this movie. Ward and Jakoby's relationship towards the end gives me life. The fantasy piece of the show was pretty cool, and all of the characters were interesting in their own ways, though I would like to see some of Jakoby and Ward's backstory. But-But can we just talk about how depressing this movie gets.
Especially the scenes that go on after Ward, Tekka and Jakoby are captured by orcs. Seriously, give those three a hug, they need it.

I also really liked it! It didn't take itself too seriously but was serious enough where it needed to be. The story was a bit predictable (pretty much from the first time it was mentioned that only a Bright can use a wand, I was like 'Ward's a Bright, he'll discover he's a magic user when he gets to epicly grab a wand' and lo and behold!) but I didn't enjoy it any less for that. If anything, I liked the predictable rehash wearing a new jacket. I can't really think of any mainstream movies or series where this kind of fantasy setting merged with a modern one in this way other than The 10th Kingdom, and I'm so hopeful this gives the genre a bit of a push. It's likable and has so much potential for humor!
Ward's character is also really interesting me. He seems to fluctuate between wanting to do good and being so utterly jaded from decades of bullshit that he doesn't really seem to know who he is anymore, but Jakoby is the kind of guy to remind him of who he wanted to be, and I thoroughly enjoyed that. It makes me look forward to a sequel. They better not mess it up.

I've heard rumors about a sequel, but I'm not buying them just yet. While I do look forward to a Bright 2, I agree with ya about messing it up since I've seen way too many movies that were fine on their own until they came out with sequels that either didn't add to the story at all, or just flat-out contradicted everything from the first movie.
