At the time I thought I was doing the right thing, providing food and protection for my wife and our unborn child"
"I don't know, I was taken prisoner to serve for my crimes, then the crack happened, and I haven't heard from seen her since. I don't even know if my child survived this mad world" A tear fell from Hectors eye.
"If it were a girl, we would call it Herna, a boy, Himma"
"That's so sad. Is that why you have this ship? so you can find your family?"
"Kinda, first it was to get shelter, then I discovered that it was an old air boat, and the day all of you came by, was the day I was going on its first trip out of the trash"
"Oh. Hey, what about Hetlerald's continent finder? If it works, we could go to where you used to live. As long as they haven't moved, that will give you an exact answer of what happened to your family." Athena sugested.
"I know that my love is has been dead for long. You see, when Gilma, my wife and I were together, I felled a special feeling in my heart, like we were connected. Even when we weren't together, I had that feeling. Now there is nothing, all gone"
"Oh wow. That must have been hard. But at least there's a chance your child is alive."
"Could be, but who knows?" He finished his soup and stood up. "Maybe one day, I will find my offspring" He stretched his old joints, making snapping and crackling noices.
Corrine sad a few feet off from Athena and Hector, studying one of her grenades in her hand. She silently listened to their conversation.
"Do you have any left?"
"Family, you mean? I don't know. My parents were murdered when I was a child, but my brother may be alive. Although, judging by the state of my hometown, I doubt it. I'm not even sure he'd want to see me if he was alive." A tear went down her cheek, and she wiped it off.
"Tell me, what have happened?"
"The last time I saw him, he was telling me he hated me. Our parents were killed by an assassin, and he said I was just like their murderer. I only did it to give him a better life, one without so much hardship. But he said he never wanted to see me again. So I did the stupidest thing ever. I left. And as it turns out, my brother was right. I was no better than my parents killer, not until after the war."
"Does it feel better now that it's out?"
"Actually, yeah. I just wish I could change the past and fix it. I wish I could see my brother."
"Do you wanna stay up and watch the stars, or hit the hay? I'm hitting the hay" Hector said and walked under deck to his hammock. Hrua were sniffling from the sad stories.
