Alain was woken up by his holo. "I hate that annoying beep..." He muttered, as he picked it from his bedside table. He clicked the central button and the shady blue form of Ltn. Massey appeared. "What the hell's so important to wake me at-" Alain looked at the clock, "- 3 in the morning?"
"Alain, finally, I tried calling you 5 times allready." There were several people hurriedly walking around in the background behind Massey.
"What's going on? Where are you?" Alain asked, suddenly alarmed.
"I'm at command HQ 4 clicks outside Hyperia. The city is under attack."
Alain quickly sat up straight and attached his holo to the tv on the wall. "Attacked? By who? And why?" He was sure they were at good standings with all known races. He started dressing.
"As to both your questions, nobody knows. They came in fast through our atmosphere and started an incursion through the city's western outskirts. They've nearly taken half of it now. Our forces can't mobilize properly, everyone's surprised and just running about. High command is mobilizing the specialists, we're senfing you in in 3 hours. Get yourself on a transport and to HQ ASAP."
Alain nodded. "On my way."
He broke the link and put the holo in his pocket. He then pulled his plate armor and helmet from his storage closet and equipped it. He checked his helmet functions and and assault rifle, then Left his room.
He quickly made his way to the transport hangar and was led into a small room to await his ship to HQ. A sargeant entered the room. "You are to wait here for others to arrive, you're not going in alone on this one."
Alain just nodded. Normally he'd have protested, since he was fine on his own. But he understood the danger of an unknown enemy, and the decision of high command to send a squad.
"You'll be in command of the squad." The sargeant finished, and left the room. Alain took off his helmet and set down in one of the provided seats to wait for the others.

(O HAI Dun mind me )
Deirdre sighed. The damned company had given her another task. What was it this time? She checked her wrist computer, looking over the details of her job. It promptly told her to go meet up with a team in the transport hangar. Sighing, she adjusted her suits that blandly made her look like a male. At least it was comfortable! She put on her helmet and made sure her weapons were all working properly. According to her appearance she looked nothing like a female although as soon as anyone heard her voice it would become apparent. Entering the hangar, she looked around. It was like any other space hangar she'd been to. She traveled way too much. Deirdre soon caught sight of Alain who she assumed she was going to be working with. She approached with a smile even if he couldn't see it. "Hey! Are you who I'm supposed to be working with for this mission?" she asked as she stood rather casually near him.

As Deirdre walked in, he had thought her a male. The female voice however betrayed her gender.
Alain nodded. "I'm Alain. Are you one of the specialists, or a merc?"
Alain nodded. "I'm Alain. Are you one of the specialists, or a merc?"
"Deirdre. Merc I guess you could say." She put her hand to her chest and bowed slightly. She spoke with a faint french accent. "I assume you're a specialist?" she asked in a rather blunt tone as she sat down on a seat beside him.
Alain nodded. "I'm squad leader on this mission." He looked at her. "You should take off your helmet while you can. We'll be wearing it a lot in the close future."
"Hm. True." she slowly slipped off her helmet and sighed a bit. She reached up and suddenly let her red hair down from the bun that kept her hair out of her face. "So, know of anyone else who is going to be on the mission or do they just plop you places like my company does to me?" she asked with a small smirk.
"I usually work alone," he started, "But I got called out of bed saying I'm going on a squad mission."
Deirdre nodded. "Odd. But then again if they see you as a valuable asset then they can't risk you getting killed out on the field just because they sent you out alone." she shrugged and looked around the space port a bit as ships came and went with haste. She then yawned and sat back in the chair, hands behind her head seeming to analyze the environment around her with her bright amber eyes.
Alain nodded. "Is that a french accent, by the way?"
"Hmm?" she turned slightly towards him, with a small smile. "Oh yes. Surprised you noticed." Deirdre sat up slightly getting comfy she figured they may be there for a little bit until other team members had arrived.
"My mother was French," he said. "We lived in the USA all my life, though, that explains my lack of accent."
"Heh, we're like siblings!" she exclaimed in a joking manner with a cheeky smile as she shifted in her seat. "Well... not quite. I wasn't raised on Earth. But close enough I suppose~." she chuckled as she took out a small flask and had a good swig. Looking to Alain, she motioned the flask to him. "Want any?"
Alain smiled at her comment about being siblings. He then looked at the flask. "Depends on what it is."
She shook the flask. "Just a bit of vodka and orange juice." she smirked "Sure as hell wakes ya up." Deirdre sighed. "Won't get ya drunk, I promise you. Would want that out on the field." Chuckling she looked at small passing group of soldiers who seemed to eye the two of them. She took no acknowledgment to it, although she wondered why they had given then the look in the first place.
"No thanks."
He then saw the soldiers look at them and saw deidre look back. "Common soldiers. Probably not used to seeing a specialist." He explained. "Don't pay too much attention to them."

She nodded as and sat back as took a small sip from the flask. She thought to herself it probably wasn't wise to drink too much before a mission but at least it kept her awake at this time. "I could never do that... Be a soldier I mean. I much prefer being a freelance merc like I am now." Deirdre shot a snarky look at one of the soldiers who clearly heard it but the soldier seemed to not pay any mind to it. Man she loved to bug them. Turning to Alain, she just had to ask. "So what do specialists do? I always wondered." she smirked, taping her foot gently on the floor.
"Specialists get sent in when high command needs something done fast and quick, or when no-one else can do the job, like now. We can also get sent out before the main forces to soften up defenses. Also, to the contrary of normal soldiers, we are allowed to choose our own weapons and gear, which makes us even more combat effective.
Nodding she closed the flask. "I see. I've gotten a couple odd jobs like that but... I don't consider myself one. I usually take jobs like courier, infiltration or whatever I could do, that look reasonable but jobs coming in lately aren't always what the description says anymore. So I don't know what to expect, but then again it makes it that more interesting." She gazed at her wrist computer, checking the time. "So when is this mission supposed to start?"
"We're supposed to leave for combat HQ in an hour," said Alain, as he checked his wrist comp.
"Where the hell am I!?" Declan yelled as he stepped out of the teleported "and what are you demons!?" Drawing his buster sword from behind his back and putting up his defensive stance. Being a mercenary life and luxury always came easy though his outfit showed that he wasn't from Alain's or Deirdre's year.
Anybody that tried to approach him was in a risk to getting their head sliced off "where am I and who are you demons!?"
