I'm wanting to do a really with a version of this character. That version would be the Ancient Vampire. She is the last of her kind, a species thought extinct for centuries, and fathers of modern vampires. Information on Ancient Vampire Cynder and her race can be found here.
Plot wise, I plan to have her wake from a magically induced hibernation centuries after the annihilation of her race, to a changed world. She will seek out any others of her race, if there are any left((I'll allow one other Ancient Vampire.)). Finding that she is quite possibly the very last of her kind, she then seeks to pass her knowledge on to the very different vampire race that descended from her own. Only to learn that her ancient enemy broke free of their banishment. She takes a select few vampires under her wing and trains them in the ancient ways, and they set out to stop this ancient evil, raising vampire armies of their own.
The plot is still open for discussion, and for more details. The setting would be more or less medieval Fantasy. Comment if you are interested!

Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.
Iron age
Combat is woven into the storyline and could come to the forefront if the characters seek it out.
