"A token of the dead is not so easily found," he said stepping forward, looking to grab it from her, "you know not the power it may very well possess".

Calan floated higher glaring daggers at him. "It's my mothers, I found it on her corpse, happy?" She said with a fake cheer.

Not wanting to press his luck with the angry girl he stepped back, but he could not stop himself from asking.

"The back does it have a marking on it, looks something like fire in a flower like pattern."

"No." She growled out. "It gives me my air manipulation powers." She floated back to a tree branch. "You done prying into my family heirloom?"

Turning away he grumbled "never gonna catch a break".

Looking towards the horizon Shade spotted the first sign of the black sun rising, wanting to move quickly he turned back towards the girl in the tree.

"If your looking for shelter my invisible friend here has somewhere to stay".

She looked him over. "How do I know you're not some asshole?"

"You don't, just gotta trust me," he smiles under his mask, "either that or we can all stand around here, near the darkling corpses, and I'm sure when their friends get here they'll want more than just an explanation.

Calan rolled her eyes. "Fine, just.... don't touch me." She crossed her arms. "And I'm staying up here."

"Fine by me," Shade remarked, pulling out a knife, rolling it in his hand, "give me some good target practice".

Gesturing towards Athena, who had been invisibly watching the seen play out up untill now, she continued to lead the way towards her hideout.

Looking up at the trees above he watches the strange girl move above him, getting a strange feeling about her and worried about who they might meet meet next.

Calan followed staying just out of reach of the man bellow. She didn't like the situation she was in but, what choice did she have?

She pulled her scarf up more on her face. Her scowl turning more into a pout as she continued moving forward.

"You know" Shade called up to the girl in trees, "I never did get your name".

She glanced at him. "I didn't get yours either." She paused for a few seconds. "Cal"

"Shade," he said with a tip off his hat, "and my quiet friend here is Athena, wait isn't Cal a boy's name".

"And?" She crossed her arms. "I've never cared to label myself with a gender. Especially labeling my name as a male's"

"Hay, no judgement here," he said "just checking, the afterlife has a funny way of reviving ones outlook on life".

Calan shrugged. "Interesting"

"Welcome to your new home! Well, at least for the time being. This thing doesn't have any fuel, so we aren't flying it anywhere. Unless you're up for hunting down a magical darkling and using their blood as fuel."

"Interesting, you don't see many ships like this anymore," Shade said, circling the ships exterior, "as for that darkling blood, I think I can help".

"I passed by a city being overrun with darklings a while back, should be no more than a day's walk away, it's risky, but it's our best chance of finding a magical darkling"

"Wonderful. Let's do it." Athena put seven daggers in her coat and two swords as well. "Unless you two feel like taking a break, lead the way."

"It's not good for me to stay in one place," said Shade readjusting his hat and mask to better cover his face in the sunlight, "we can rest and get to know eachother on the way".
