Welcome to World of Galmaora

FrayIslandMapOptimization1.jpg

The story begins on the Island of Fray, one of the outlying areas in the Galovite Empire not currently a major target of the third Galovian War against the Invading Xalform Crusaders who are attempting to bring a holy war to the Empire, which allows full diversity of religions without punishment.

Cities, and towns are heavily guarded by the Galovian Army, and an invasion on the island is not imminent. With this increased military presence, outlaws will have higher difficulties hiding in the major settlements, and has sprung up gangs and camps in the wilderness.

This also means many races are banned from the cities, as the Empire in majority is human, and even former open cities are now closed off by the Empire, meaning the loss of homes, goods, and other bits and bobs.

The giant stood at the gates to Elsen. His kind was not welcomed here, but he stood his ground against the armed soldiers who approached, bearing weapons, ordering him to leave the city.

No he responded abruptly. He towered over these soldiers, which made him moreso amused that they even tried accosting him, even at the sight that he was armed. A massive sword hung from his belt, etched with runic engravings that symbolized something of his home culture.

Both of the men leading the gate's guardsmen attempted to shove him back, but they could not move the brute. With this, he seemed annoyed. Instantaneously, both of his free hands shot out like a bullet, grabbing the throat of each soldier, effortlessly lifting them into the air as if they were mere paperweights. As weapons were pulled and pointed towards him, the commander in his right hand choked out the words

Surrender now or perish.

The giant smiled, he tossed his man into the crowd of his own, as if he was tossing a stone into the lake. With his grip locking tighter on the guardsman in his left, he lifted him even higher, then thrusting the body towards the ground. As the guardsman's spine hit the stone pathway, a sickening snap of the spine echoed. The man unsheathed his sword, holding it at the ready.

I fear no man.

So it began, the first of all to approach was that commanding officer, whose sword-thrust was countered by the male's longer reach, slapping the blade aside and having the giant's huge boot connect with his chest, driving him down to the ground, only to have his heart run through with the giant's blade.

With these two murders, the remaining guardsman sought to kill him, yet suffered all similar fates to no avail. These human soldiers seemed to have no-where near the swordsmanship this brutish figure did. His torso, arms, hands, and blade were now coated in the fresh blood of the guards. A wicked smile arose across his face, and he simply turned and left the area.

Just head south. That's where Elsen is. But be careful, Lorelei. They might attack you. Use your stealth you've had for so long.

The words played on repeat within her mind as she travelled, each step she took taken her closer to the city and further from the wilderness she knew well. She knew it well enough that she was becoming bored. There was nothing interesting there anymore. Everything seemed to be on repeat, doing the same thing from day to day. Eat. Hunt. Sleep. Repeat. It was a naturally occurring rhythm she'd grown very well accustomed to. It was boring to her now. She thrived for more action. She knew where to find the action.

Just beyond, she could see the city drawing near, becking her to come closer. She wanted to explore. She wanted to have an adventure. She wanted action. It was there, she had a feeling it was. As she made her way towards Elsen, she saw a scene in front of her playing out. A tall brute, confronted by guards, was standing at the gate. It looked like he wanted in, but the guards were not complying. That's when she saw the brute's hands grab ahold of two guards, something beginning to play out. She glanced around, looking for a hiding place. She wanted to see what would happen, without having to get in their way.

She heard the clashing of metal as swords were used, she could even see some crimson blood being exposed as swords were drawn. And soon, it was over, just as fast as it began. She watched the bloodied brute begin to leave the area, wondering if the other guards were going to go after him. After all, he'd committed a crime, but the shear intimidation that the brute gave off stopped them with a chase. She glanced around, gathering her materials before taking off quickly and quietly, curious to who the strange brute was. And soon, she followed at a distance, keeping herself hidden from the naked eye.

The giant had wandered significantly far into the wilderness. His destination seemed to be the river a few miles ahead. Upon reaching it, he'd knelt down, and stared into the water as he cleaned the blood of his blade, and himself. His hands then fell to his sides idle, intently transfixed by his reflection in the water, he started muttering to himself, shaking his head furiously as if to dis-spell an illusion.

****!

He grimaced, looking away from the water, and began his march in another direction, before being once-more accosted by a group of men. Highwaymen, it seemed to be.

You, big ugly! Give us all your shit and we won't slice you apart

He seemed mildly uninterested in the threat, and continued to walk in their direction. Amongst shouting between them, and at him they tried pushing him back, but the male would not budge.

Take your hands off me, or each and every one of you dies. Each more painful than the last.

The group seemed intimidated by the giant's words, and with that, had actually retreated from him. His eyes flickered between the group.

What a bunch of ****ing idiots. Your swords are as sharp as butter knives. Go turn yourselves in before you get killed.

He taunted, and immediately angered the tallest of the group. This outlaw approached him, and tried throwing a punch towards the giants jaw, only to have it caught by his massive right hand. With this done, his last hand plopped down on his assailants head and lifted him by the skull, right off the ground, bringing them eye to eye.

He did not say anything, just stared. After moments, he reared his head back slightly and head-butted the outlaw, dropping his unconscious body onto the ground, walking away once more.

The woman sat cross-legged in front of her charred campfire, watching the smoke rise silently. A stone tipped spear laid against a tree within her reach, ready to grab if needed, though she didn't suspect of anyone coming this deep into the forest. She pulled off a leather pouch hanging from her chest, grabbing a pinch of the herb inside to toss over the ashes, immediately grabbing two rocks after pulling the bag shut. After several attempts, she lit a spark, sitting back as a bluish flame burned, staring into it intensely, waiting for a vision to arise in final hopes of seeing where the lone traveler shall go.

The witch heavily relied on these visions and spells to guide her way across this world, as she remains alone in her many years of living. Still dabbling in the work of her craft, she spends her time practicing, remaining in the woods that she called her new home for over a hundred years. Though she has history with the powerful magic, her mind and body remained the same since she was merely young and brash, often letting her become frustrated easily. Her cocky attitude lacked the patience she really needed, though she still makes attempts in sharpening her skills.

Setting her headdress in her lap, the woman kept her focus to the flickering cerulean, growling lowly as a breeze came by blowing it away. She let out an exaggerated sigh as she leaned back against a boulder, staring off to space trying to decide what to do, rubbing the bridge of her nose. The smoke from before mixed with the attempt, rising in a blue hue to the sky.

Along his path through the wilderness, the male had noticed smoke rising into the air. Curious, the giant had trodden off in the direction, in complete disregard of his previous aimless wandering. With his huge frame, stealth usually wasn't an option. So, he rather loudly plowed his way through the branches, snapping sticks and crushing the leaves under his boots as he swiftly cut through the woodlands

A scent...

He did not entire recognize it, yet it did not stop him. Pushing his way into the small clearing, the giant stood his ground firmly, staring down to the female he'd run across, leaning on a large rock. Moments passed, and he only retained a silent stare. Though, the scent was not human, and thus, he felt obligated to break the silence with the question.

You another one of those who aren't allowed in the settlements anymore?

His gruff, northern-accent coated his words perhaps more harshly than he intended, but he showed no hostility to the female. His recently cleaned body made his tribal-runic tattoos gleam brightly in the midday sunlight, obvious to the naked eye that the man was shirtless. His muscular, toned form showed no tension. He was clearly not to be an aggressor.
They have a list or something? You know what you're looking at, of course I can't.

The woman snickered at her own snarky remark, grinning smugly towards the stranger, believing he was speaking of her practice. She slowly stood up, grabbing her spear in the process. She jabbed the end of the handle into the grass before turning her attention back to the brute. She eyed him down, perplexed by his massive size, though she never showed any fear.

What are you wanting anyway? Nothing's here in these woods, and I don't give away potions.

She sneered, though being patient to not attack the brute just yet, being cautious of his height advantage. However, her jaw dropped as her attention drew to the man's tattoo's. She could only stare in shock at the familiar markings, knowing what they bear, as similar ones show across her face and through the tears of her clothes. She gripped tightly to her weapon, her cocky attitude diminished as she mumbled under her breath, shaking her head in disbelief.

It can't be. No, there's no way, but how?
Halvar (played by AWildBear) Topic Starter

Me? I'm a wanderer. I guess that the way you'd understand it.

As the giant watched her, he took more into account of the tattoos that she bore on her face. Curiously, he stepped forward towards her slowly, showing no hostility, and seeming not be afraid of whatever she'd retaliate with.

Those markings... You're from that village, aren't you.

The improbabilities raced through his mind though to him, it seemed unlikely any other clan would have so easily come upon the runes. To his knowledge, only one other survivor was yet alive, who he seldom visited in his travels. An old friend, but that lead to the real question in this situation.

If she's not the only survivor... Then who is this girl?

He thought hard upon the question he proposed after speaking to her. She didn't appear to old, but the magical energies she was releasing, in his mind must've taken many years to procure. Perhaps an immortal, like he was. He blinked, the surreal feeling completely engulfing his torn battlefield of nameless, and endless traumas.
The witch tilted her chin up to meet with his gaze, stabbing her spear into the ground as a way of backing down.

I was, but it was destroyed ages ago. You seem to know where I'm talking about if your marks are truly real.

She stared off to space, remembering her home in flames and debris. Her tribe's deity blamed the young healer for the downfall, calling out the punishment as the curse coiled around her heart.

As you failed to lead your family, you will continue to lead yourself to failure

The woman caught herself mumbling these words under her breath, focusing her short attention back to the male. Seemingly flustered, she snarled at the stranger without second thought.

Hey, keep your distance. You can see just fine over there.

She prayed this man didn't recognize her as the alpha back then, if he really knew of her past tribe, though, she kept doubting these possibilities, thinking of how long she has stayed in solitude. She sighed to herself, releasing the tension in her body, mumbling a dry Sorry to him as her eyes trailed to the ground.

He nodded calmly as she spoke, giving her the slightest recognition that he was listening. Despite the outburst, the male did not seem to be bothered. His massive arms folded across his chest as he stared down at her intently.

You really weren't to blame for that.

The somber words were followed up with him turning his back on her, and his right arm extended out, a black mist-like substance floating into the air around them, opening his palm drew immediate darkness upon the scene, and as he clenched his fist, the village appeared.

The man's dark magic was bringing together the scene piece by piece, yet seemed to be connected to his memory. The village the woman had lead was were he had settled as a "adult". Now married, and with a daughter of 6 winters age at the time. The entire village was engulfed in flames, warriors from either party in the fray to and fro. Yet, this image followed the giant, who, once was what seemed to be just an ordinary man, struggling his way through the combat, killing whomever got in the way.

Upon reaching his own homestead, he'd found the slain, and recently set ablaze corpses of his first wife and daughter upon the doorstep, and a torch that had lit the structure, and the bodies, laying beside.

The thunder rolled, lightning darted across the sky. A storm was coming. The dream sequence ended abruptly, with that image. The giant solemnly searched the skies, the clouds were moving in fairly quickly.

Come with me. I have a place not too far from here that will be suitable to get out of the storm.

He moved towards the treeline, looking back at her. He did not ask what she thought of the vision, for he didn't want to ask himself about it, either.
