The tigress glanced at her, then started sniffing around. She would've answered, but she couldn't talk in this form like Gaia could.

"Sorry. I keep forgetting that most can't talk in animal form." Gaia looked around, staying alert." I hate being a Demon Wolf." She said to herself.

Tolora leaned towards Gaia for a moment and looked at her. If all Demon Wolves were like her, they shouldn't be that bad. She sniffed around again and finally found a scent. She started following it out of the village.

Gaia followed Tolora. Once and a while, she would stop and listen before catching up. Gaia's ear twitched once and she stopped. Gaia bristled for she had heard the howl of another Demon Wolf.

Tolora stopped when she heard the howl. The scent was getting stronger too. She glanced over at Gaia to see her reaction to the other Demon Wolf.

Gaia's hackles were up, making it very obvious that this Demon Wolf wasn't friendly at all." We should really get out of here." Gaia said to Tolora.

Tolora nodded and started running. The scent trail had been going in a generally straight line. She kept running in that direction and sniffed once in a while to make sure it didn't suddenly turn.

Gaia followed until a black wolf tackled her from behind. The Demon Wolf was a bit larger than Gaia but it didn't frighten her. Gaia growled savagly but the black Demon Wolf didn't back off.

Tolora growled at the other Demon Wolf and swiped out at it with her claws extended, leaving open gashes on its side.

The Demon Wolf growled back until Gaia slammed into it. The Demon Wolf bit her shoulder before Gaia managed to rip out a chunk of meat of it's flank. The Demon Wolf ran away, limping badly.

Tolora watched the Demon Wolf leave and then sniffed her shoulder, worried.

"I'm alright." Gaia transformed into her human form, grimancing when she saw her shoulder bleeding badly.

Tolora hesitated, then nodded. She had no idea how to heal Gaia. She could smell the scent was extremely strong now and followed it to a little bush. She nosed around in it and a groaning sound came out.

She gently pulled out a little boy who grumbled and said "Leave me alone..." He curled up and tried to go back to sleep. Tolora turned back to her human form and shook the boy. "Wake up Markal! Jeesh, if it were anything else in this place that would've found you, you'd be dead."

The boy looked up at her and smiled. "Tolora! Where were you? Nan told me to go get a pail of water and when I came back there was fighting and fire...."

Gaia watched Tolora and the boy. She wasn't far from them, holding her bleeding shoulder. She had given up trying to stop the bleeding. She was glad to see someone from the village had survived.

Tolora smiled at Markal, relieved he was alive. She looked back at Gaia and then started looking around. She shrugged and tore off a piece of her shirt. "I could use this to cover your wound." She offered.

"You didn't have to but since you already did...." Gaia walked over to them, taking her hand off her wounded shoulder.

Tolora wrapped it around her shoulder and tightened it a little, to help stop the blood flow. "I wasn't going to just let you bleed out. Without your help that Demon Wolf would've been too much for me. Thank you."

Gaia blinked, not used to getting thanked." Anytime." Gaia smiled, her cheeks a little rosy.

Tolora smiled back at her. Markal looked at Gaia. "What are you going to do now?"
