Summary:
About 50 years ago, humans began being born with strange abilities. Now, about 90% of all humans have these abilities. No one is certain what is causing these powers, but it is confirmed not to be genetic. Most abilities can be organized into either the category of Transformation, Emission, Elemental, or a combination of two or more.
Countries scrambled to control these powers. Each country was reckless with their money as they tried to research how to use these powers for military use. Finally, everything collapsed. Chaos engulfed the world.
After several months, the violence and panic died down. People tried to come together to rebuild civilization, but the months of violence and chaos had deep psychological effects on a lot of people. Most people came together in ‘packs’. Usually with family or friends. They became savage, living like animals.
However, some people managed to build small settlements and trade systems. People began traveling from camp to camp. As society slowly rebuilt itself, people began hearing rumors of a huge fortress surrounded by walls. It large, metal letters on the wall it reads ‘Avalon’. Rumors say that it is a city. A real city! A city untouched by the horrors of the outside world.
After ten years of living in shacks, allowing jealousy of the people of Avalon’s good fortune to grow, many began to search for the city. All anyone knows is that it’s somewhere in south Oklahoma.
A small camp of around 50 people in North Texas lives in isolation. They know nothing of other camps or even Avalon. However, when a traveler happens upon their countryside settlement, everything is revealed about what they’ve been missing. It has been three days since the man came, and the small camp has been contemplating their next move.

The characters will start in the camp. You may have any power that is not considered OP. Please specify which of your characters you plan to use. This roleplay is for all experience levels. I can't wait to start! I'd like a small group, but this can work with a lot of people.
EDIT: A suggestion would be younger characters. If your character was a child in those months of chaos and violence, it may make things interesting! Either way, any reminder of those days could easily bring a shiver to anyone's spine.

This seems really cool, I haven't seen many Apocalyptic style RPs that aren't zombie apocalypse, but I do have a few questions about the abilities humans are being born with in your setting.
So you classified them into three categories being "Transformation, Emission, Elemental." I understand that much, but what does each category pertain to?
Would Transformation be more along the lines of being born with different physical traits like wings, a tail or gills, or would it be more along the lines of transformation magic, like shape-shifting?
Would Elemental be just sort of just like air magic, water magic, etc. Or is there a more elaborate type?
Can you specify what "Emission" is? I'm perplexed by that one as it doesn't seem traditional, but I like the sound of it.
I am interested in this, but I just want to know these things so I can select a good character that would fit the RP as best as possible. Looking forward to hearing back from you.

So, the transformation includes being born with those characteristics you described, and shape-shifting parts or all of your body. Emission means you can emit things from your body. Most elemental powers are also emission ones. One power that would only be emission would be more psychic such as mind reading, teleportation, etc. Elementals are powers that surround a material theme such as flame summoning, water manipulation, and things like that. Hence why most elementals are paired with emission or transformation. Examples: Transforming into a stone golem would be Transformation/elemental and generating fire would be Emission/elemental.
I'm using Colin. His special power is outlined on his profile: the Null aura. It's an anti-superpower, as in it cancels extraordinary abilities.
Okay! I think I'll use this character and rather than him being a fantasy race, he'll be human with transformation ability of being born with wings (large, silky, moth-like wings, but wings nonetheless).

I only have one character and her name is Maurielle. But the issue might be that her species isn't human so it could be immersion breaking. Is it okay if the virus changed her appearance to look more cat like? Perhaps, her powers are shape shifting into a cat. Will that be okay?
This sounds super interesting! I have a character that's perfect for this, but just haven't uploaded a page yet.

There's no virus. She would have been born like that and her power would be transformation. Basically, mutations like that are considered transformation. She can be that, but she can't be a princess. Your character is overall okay for the RP except the history. Could she just be a normal teen of maybe a wealthy family? Maybe the president's daughter?
