I want to play around with this plot and create something fun and different for me.
I'd like to play Sig as a withdrawn kidnapper in his own catch twenty two. For his side of the story, he owes the local crew of the community money he can't pay back. Given this ordeal, he's given a task he can't say no to, which is to take YC. As a reformed con, Sig would like to pass the offer, but he's in no place to voice his wishes. For this one time only, he's revisiting his criminal past.
His orders are clear. He starts off silently trailing YC, though YC doesn't seem to notice. He does this continuously until he's learned of YC's schedule, friends, family, etc. This is so that he can take YC with nobody knowing the wiser, and with no connection to YC, nobody knows Sig either.
Sig is holding YC hostage, and should YC's parents fail to pay the ransom to the local crew, or call the cops, it's only one call to Sig that'll determine YC's life. Or death. Sig isn't too keen on the idea, but the quicker YC's parents follow their part, the quicker Sig can pretend this never happened. He's on parole... Except there's more to this story than YC or he knows.
P much, it's crime and some mystery, with Sig being withdrawn and snappy in the whole situation. The plot isn't necessarily romantic, as he could be watching over a kid, or holding a high risk adult that's the child of some big name man (or woman). Or the why he kidnaps them can change too if that's the case.

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.

Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
