Fantasy medieval setting, one on one or open small group play. Looking to join or start something new.
Hi everyone. I have an old character (Medan) that I want to start playing again as it's been about 10 years.
He fits into a fantasy/medieval setting and I'm looking for either a 1 on 1 or even better small open group play. Male or female characters, I'm not picky on that point. I am happy to start something new, or introduce him as a new character into your current play if you're feeling like you'd like to add someone new. Or if you and a friend have an established story that you'd like to add more characters to, I'm game. I will put a potential starter post at the bottom of this post if someone would like me to start, but I can also write something else to match your setting if you prefer I hop in somewhere with you.
I personally am really into character development and Medan is an old favourite for that reason. You could say we "grew up together" as he's got a long history and has grown and changed a lot over the years. For that reason he tends to fit really well into lives/stories that he stumbles into and becomes caught up in. He's a strong supporting character who has played significant roles in several people's stories.
So ideally you're someone with a story that needs characters and I can rise to the occasion. Medan is human, a skilled woodsman, former soldier. He's not unfriendly, but he's not without his faults either. He's well travelled but currently has ended up somewhere he's entirely unfamiliar with.
I have written an introduction as to how he has arrived in whatever current setting he's arrived in, it's under his character profile and I would appreciated it if you took a few minutes to read and see if you enjoy it. By reading it you will get an idea for how he is, and what my writing is like and if he will fit in. For in play posts I can usually be expected to write 2-4 literate paragraphs, but I understand as well when one short to the point paragraph can be rather perfect. I can commit to at least one post a day, but I used to play in real time chat rooms so I'll be happy to write several times a day some days, because I like instant gratification as much as the next person.
Let's see.
Other details.
I'm not against magic or other fantasy characters/races, but I really hate automatic magical healing of everything and not everything can be magic all the time. Medan isn't a magic user and he's not particularly familiar with it, though he's come across things can could use a little more explaining than he can gain.
Characters may or may not develop relationships beyond platonic, but that really to me depends on the flow of the story, how the characters mesh, it's never really a goal I set out to achieve but if that's where it naturally develops that's ok. Remember, I'm about character development. Not really interested in smut.
On that note, I'm also ok with character deaths. I've removed a number of my own characters from play with a well written and timely death scene and if that's something you do too, I'm cool with that! Medan is still around because he still has places to go and things to see, but anything can happen.
Here is a potential first post from me as Medan as a possible prompt. We could start from here, or if you like, I could pop in where you want him in your own story. Shoot me a message if you'd like to play with me and we'll move to an IC forum.
Thanks!

The winter in this place had started off mild, but based on the thick pelts of the animals he harvested from his snares he was not unprepared when, shortly before the shortest day of the year, his nostrils flared and stung in response to the sudden bitterness in the air and the smell of snow on the breeze. In the course of one night the temperatures plummeted, and he’d woken the next morning, curled under a deer skin, with a thick blanket of sugary snow on top of him. It sounded like sand as it fell away from him, frozen granules that were too cold to stick together. The cold and snow settled in to stay that morning, and Medan had a sense that while delayed, the winter would not necessarily be easy. Funny thing though… he always hoped for snow.
It had been a couple months by now since he’d landed. And in that time he’d determined only that he’d not ventured onto some uninhabited place as he moved inland, leaving the sea behind him. He’d crossed what was clearly a road several times without bothering to see where it went and without meeting a soul on it. In either direction it could be predicted would be spatterings of human civilization of varying degree. Towns, cities, markets, but with no money, no means, and no interest the road had merely served as a landmark in the territory he was establishing for himself in the forest. Sometimes he’d cross it twice in a day, sometime he’d not see it for a week or more. The road was wide enough for one wagon, wider in places where two could pass, and rutted telling him clay soil was unstable in the rainy season and he could expect it to be mud and slick in spring.
But as the cold and snow had hung on for a few weeks now with no sign of letting up until spring Medan emerged from the treeline, clambered through the ditch, and up onto the road, knocking excess snow from his boots by knocking his heels against his shins in turn. The snow on the road had been blown thinner, it came up to his ankles where it was soft, and that was in most places as it didn’t seem to be terribly well travelled since the first snow fall. A few wheel marks from passing wagons, and signs of travel by horseback. Little hint of travel by foot. Animal tracks crossed in places. He resisted the urge to follow those and chose his direction of travel arbitrarily. Left or right, it didn’t matter, roads lead to people regardless of the direction, and while he still had no money he did now possess means, and if not an interest then at least a need. Slung over his back was a heavy bundle of furs. Rabbit mostly, and a few weasels, but two fine foxes and a wolf pelt to sweeten the deal were carefully rolled and tied in place. The bundle obscured his weapon of choice from sight, only the ends of the bow showing where it rested unstrung at his back.
He, himself, appeared a wild man with a growth of red beard on his jaw, ragged and unkempt. He’d fashioned from deer skin a roughly made poncho of sorts, that had done its job at keeping him alive as the temperatures dropped, and rabbit skins lined his boots and kept his toes attached, but with the sudden drop in temperatures of the last few weeks Medan had grown chilled daily. He finally had to admit that civilization had its use, and what he needed was a tailor to whip him up a proper coat, and a new and warmer wool shirt, thicker trousers, proper gloves… the shopping list wasn’t short. Real food was even appealing, he’d end up with scurvy at this rate. A man doesn’t accumulate pelts to keep for himself, the fact he’d accumulated so many betrayed that this had always needed to be the eventual outcome. Man is not a solitary creature, even if he wants to be. So with his soft boots scuffing a trail through the snow he followed the road.

Some magic. Few can use it, but most of the players probably won't have it. Magical characters will likely believe that they are all alone.
Iron age
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
Details: Freeform, paragraphs required, long-term RP partner preferred.
This looks absolutely lovely! I would love to rp with you. I have an assortment of medieval fantasy characters, and a world I have created as well!
I see many spots where Caffeine can make it into this RP. What I would like to know ishow long you would be willing to keep this up.
OOC: Hi there!
I see some parallels with us. I've also been role playing with Melina for about 10 years, and I'm in love with character development. She fits perfectly in a medieval setting, too
I'd love to develop a group RP if everyone else would :o
(or 1x1, it doesn't matter to me!)

I am sorry everyone, I thought I had this set up to send me an email when I got a response! I apparently did not, though the correct box is checked... Probably an issue with my email instead.
Luckily someone sent me a message too, so I got that notification.
I am happy to see that I have interest!
I'll respond to each of you in messages so I don't confuse myself too much and maybe figure out why I'm getting inbox notifications and not forum ones.

Woo! Medieval/fantasy roleplay must be my favorite of all, excluding cheesy romance roleplays.
I actually have a character who could fit in perfectly, nearly all of mine could if I’m honest. But I need to work on this character. She is on my misc page and I would love to do this with you as that character!
