"You doubted otherwise?" he asked, smirking. Of course he acted confident around her. But he wondered if he could keep that confidence if and when the time actually came. But that was a thought for another time.
The road seemed so quiet, and eerie as they walked. Of course that was because it was nighttime, but he knew that even some people travelled roads during the night. Perhaps the town where his house was, was really out of the way from every where else. That only made him sigh again. He hoped it wouldn't be so long until the next town. Being what he was could be frustrating, having a time limit to do anything.

Zalia blushed a little and smiled at him. "No. Of course not." She didn't like the quiet, it unnerved her. She looked at him a couple times, just focusing on him. After a few moments she actually ended up tripping...yeah. Because she was clumsy, and wasn't looking where she was going when she was looking at him. She grabbed onto his arm as she fell, gasping.
"s-sorry...I'm clumsy.."
"s-sorry...I'm clumsy.."
His movement was quick and fluid like as he caught her before she fell toward the ground. "Are you okay?" he asked. He wanted to make a joke about watching where she was going, since he had felt her eyes on him. But he knew that she would be embarrassed, and he was becoming better at avoiding those situations.
"If you become tired, let me know. I can carry you," he said, not knowing if she had ever walked all night before. She may tired quickly, unlike him.

Zalia blushed with just having him catch her. "Y-yeah..." She cleared her throat a little, and then nodded. "Okay." She doubted she would do that, because she was too shy to have him carry her while she was conscious.
"How long do you think it's going to take?"
"How long do you think it's going to take?"
He honestly didn't know. He hadn't travelled this way whenever he came back home, and it had been far too long since he was a child, that he couldn't make a good estimate.
"I would say, at my best guess, another hour or so," he said, but it was clear he wasn't confident in that answer. "I guess this is nice though. I needed to get out more." He laughed a little, finding it amusing for some reason. He reclaimed Zalia's hand, and quickened his pace. The sooner they arrived, the better.

Zalia nodded in understanding. It was just a guess, she knew. When he spoke of the moment being nice, she blushed and nodded. "Yes, it is." When he took her hand again her face turned a bit brighter. She kept up with his new pace and tried to keep her eyes on the path they were travelling.
It was getting a bit harder now to just hold in her affections.

He walked quietly now, and as he did, he smelled a hint of smoke on the air. Maybe that was a sign of a town growing near. "I think we may be growing close," he said, looking down to Zalia. He looked back in front of them, but found no other signs of life, such as lights or fires, or buildings.
He shook his head, saying, "Zalia..." But he stopped. He kept quite, changing his mind on what he wanted to say.

Zalia nodded. "Alright." She walked along with him, but when he said her name she stopped and looked at him. "What?" She frowned a little. She couldn't just let him go on without saying anything else.
"What is it, Alezander?"
"What is it, Alezander?"
He didn't answer her right away. He was deep in his own thoughts again, back to the situation that was plaguing him. What if this all did turn out badly?
"If we don't get to my sister in time, or if I lose control again, and there seems to be no way to recover my own control --" he hesitated, feeling that he already knew her answer. "I want you to end my existence. I don't want to be caught in a control that I can't break from. I don't want to live like that. And I don't want you to see me like that."

Zalia listened to him. She stared when he stated what he wanted her to do. "I can't." she whispered. "I just can't. There's no way I could make myself do that. I'm sorry. Maybe Kai will, maybe I can find Kai and have her do it. But I can't." She shook her head a little. Just thinking about it made her so upset that she wanted to cry.
"I can't kill you."
"I can't kill you."
Alezander frowned. "If I wanted just anyone to do it, I could ask some random person on the street," he said, shaking his head. But he wouldn't talk of it anymore. She knew his wishes, and he would leave it at that. There was no need to go further into it, to try and convince her.
The smell of smoke grew closer, and it became evident that it was coming from a fireplace, though it was hard to tell where it was coming from, exactly. "I think we are getting close," he reiterated from before. He could see silhouettes in the distances, just past the trees, and they seemed to be buildings and houses.

Zalia looked down. Well...that had killed the mood, absolutely. She held his hand a little tighter. He had asked HER of all people to kill him...but she couldn't do it. She just couldn't kill him, it would hurt her too much. But maybe...maybe she would do it. For him. Because she loved him. Zalia lifted a hand to her mouth, covering it to try and quiet any sounds she might make. A few tears slid down her cheeks, she had tried to hold them back but it was just too sad, to think of having to kill him.
They were getting closer, but she was feeling worse and worse.
They were getting closer, but she was feeling worse and worse.
Alezander had walked quite a ways, before he had even noticed her tears. He stopped suddenly, stepping in front of her and bending down to meet her eyes. He took his hand, resting it on the side of her cheek, and wiped away the tears with his thumb.
"Don't worry, that was all for worst case scenario. I know we can pull through this if we just stick to it, and do our best. I didn't mean to upset you," he said, now bringing her into an embrance. "I'm sorry." It truly had not been his intention. He just had wanted her to know, just incase the worse did happen.

Zalia tried to turn her head from him as he bent down to look at her. She did not like people seeing her cry. But she let him touch her face and brush away her tears while she listened to his calming words. When he pulled her into a hug she returned it, holding him close. He was alive, or at least not dead-dead. She had to remember that. She nodded slightly. "Okay." She held onto him tightly. "It's just...you're my best friend. I don't want to lose you. And thinking about losing you upsets me."
He was more than her best friend. But she wasn't about to divulge that part of her feelings.

"Thank you... for caring," he said, giving her another smile before standing up straight once more and looking ahead of him. His eyes seemed to be searching, but the truth was, he was thinking on what Zalia had said. He, too, thought of her as someone he could confide in and one that he could trust. Though it was hard for him to admit it. It was hard trusting again, but she had some how broken through that barrier. He could remember the time they had first met, his selfish and naive ways pulling her into a dance that eventually led them to this moment. He would have never have guessed it, but if he could change it, he wouldn't dare do so.
"Come, we must hurry." He noted the lightening of the sky, and knew that dawn would be upon them soon.

Zalia smiled at him. "Of course." She walked along quietly now, just trying to think things through. When he mentioned that they had to hurry, she bit her lip. This was true. They needed to pick up the pace. "Come on." She held his hand again and started on a light jog. It would help them get to shelter faster for him. If it was for his safety, Zalia would run as long as she needed.
She wanted to make sure they would get there and he would be safe.

He kept pace with her, but soon found it to be unnessecary. He had caught sight of the first building and knew they would soon be in the town. He slowed his pace, and as they passed the tree line, saw the array of buildings that lay before them. Apparently, the had been hidden well by the trees. Most of the houses lacked lights, but it was still probably too early for people to begin waking up.
They spent a few more minutes navigating the town, before they found a place that would pass for an inn. He told Zalia to wait outside, while he got rooms for them.
After quite a few minutes, and his vampiric persuasive powers to the woman who gave out the rooms, he returned to Zalia. "It is apparently a small inn. They only have one room availible. You should have seen the look she gave me when I asked for one this early in the morning." He gave a small chuckle.

Zalia would walk along with him, and upon finding the inn she stood outside and waited. She hated that part. She rubbed the ring and kept her back against the wall, looking around nervously. When he finally came out, she smiled, though her cheeks turned red when she heard there was only one room. "U-uhm, okay. Th-that's fine, right? I mean, you're gonna be asleep the whole time and I'm gonna be awake some of the time, so it's fine."
She gave a nervous little chuckle to his mentioned of the woman's face, but would then just followed Alezander to their room. She couldn't believe they were sharing a room. This probably wouldn't end well. Zalia often slept...well, not so good, but not terribly bad.

Alezander nodded. "Don't worry, I am a gentleman, after all," he said, bowing his head a bit. He led her up the stairs on the outside of the building, to the second floor and opened it into a hallway. As they walked down it, he checked the numbers of the rooms, until he saw number '3', and unlocked the door with his key.
As he made his way in, he set his bag onto the little table in the corner. It was a small room, but it had a bed, a chair, and a bathroom to use.
"Definitely not what I am used to, but it will do," he said, looking back to Zalia.

Zalia smiled at Alezander. "I trust you." She did. She'd stayed in his house with him alone, so why not a bedroom?" She looked around at their room and nodded. "It will do. You take the bed, since I won't be sleeping near as long as you will be."
She smiled at him. "I'll be here when you wake up. I promise."
