"I'm fine," he said, giving her shoulder a light pat. He had already forgotten what he was going to tell her, and instead, kept pace with her. "Don't wear yourself out," he joked, trying to lighten the mood again. "I don't know what the next town will think if they see me carrying a girl in at dawn."

He wondered though, just what had caused the pain. He wondered if, since Maria had control of him, if she could sense his emotions, and she would punish him for certain ones. That made the most sense. If she could read his mind though, the would be in a lot of trouble.

Zalia was worried about him. And since he hadn't finished his sentence, she wondered what he was going to say. His joke was almost lost on her as she thought such things, but she managed to give a half-hearted smile. "Don't worry, I'm fine." She kept walking with him, as fast a pace as she could go without running.

"The faster we move, the sooner we'll get there, right?" And the sooner he would be free from Maria's grip.

"I suppose, but it wouldn't do us any good if you passed out on the way there." He understood why she was in a hurry, and he wanted to get there as soon as possible as well, but he honestly needed to be careful which way they went, since it had been a while since he had been in this area, and they might become lost. And being in too big a hurry might cause just that.

To be honest, he wasn't even sure when they would come across the next town. All he knew, was that the town after the next would be their destination.

Zalia waved off his concern. "I'm fine. Don't worry about me." She was lying through her teeth, but he probably didn't know that. She just smiled and kept walking. She had only had perhaps one or two meals ever since they left, and she was starting to feel thirst too. The thirst for blood.

She was tired, and hungry in two senses. But she didn't stop and she didn't slow down, and she wasn't going to risk their journey because of her need to feed. She was a half-blood, she was able to go longer than a normal vampire without feeding.

It was starting to get light, but she could see the town ahead. "Just a little further."

Good. He had been worried with the sky lightening, that they might not find shelter. Perhaps it had been a good idea to rush. This town was slightly larger than the previous, and it took a little while longer to find a place that could be considered an inn. He stopped Zalia, handing her some money and telling her to go to a shop, most likely a bakery would be open this time of day.

"Get some food for you to last til the morning. I will get us a room." He quickly entered the building.

Zalia took the moeny and nodded a little. "Alright." She turned and would walk through the area with every intention of getting something to eat. Until it started raining, and until some shady drunks were kicked out of the tavern. Zalia was getting soaked, and the two drunks had just noticed a pretty girl standing all along.

She could feel her fangs growing, the thirst burning in her throat. But she couldn't, she couldn't feed. There were two, and she couldn't risk being caught. She turned on her heel and ran, pocketing the money. She would get food later. She went right to the room Alezander had gotten, the girl soaking wet.

Alezander was surprised that she was back so soon. And that it had started raining. "I didn't think it would rain for quite a while. Must be a fast moving storm." He finished shuffling through his bag, and set the mirror on the table beside him. "Did you get enough food?" he asked, slightly distracted by the mirror.

This room had two beds, at least, so they wouldn't have to decide who would be sleeping uncomfortably. And it was a slightly larger room, a bit nicer, and more decorated.

Zalia didn't hear his question, she was distracted herself. Not by the mirror, but by what had just happened. Her tongue poked at her teeth, still long. "It's alright, I'll just change. I'm fine." It was the automatic answer, she hoped it was right for whatever he had asked. She took her clothes and moved to the corner to get dressed.

Alezander noticed her odd answer, and looked to her as she gathered her clothes. He quickly looked away, not wanting to become a pervert by watching her. He stood up, making his way over to window and closing the curtains. Cloudy or not, the sun always seemed to find a way through.

He made his way over to his bed next, laying down on it, with his face in the pillow. The bed wasn't as nice as the one he had back home, but it was better than the chair he had last time.

"We are almost there," he said, talking about arriving at his sister's. It was so close, yet it seemed so far away. They would have been there long before now if he hadn't been cursed by his undead state.

Zalia finished dressing and she sat down on her own bed. "We'll be there tomorrow night. I promise." She was going to make certain of it. She looked at him for a few moments, then laid down.

"Goodnight, Alezander." She closed her eyes and fell asleep. It didn't last long. She was up every two hours with nightmares, and finally she just decided to stay awake. It was pouring, so she couldn't go out and get some food. Not that she even thought of it. She was too busy thinking about her nightmares. It was her father again. She hoped he wasn't near.

Alezander, for some reason, fell asleep quickly. He just felt drained, and wasn't sure why. But his dream was deep, and he didn't wake when Zalia did every so often.

He woke after some time, though not the usual eight or so hours normal people slept. He looked over to Zalia, to see her awake. "Something the matter?" he asked, awkwardly not showing a hint of just being asleep. He felt a slight hunger, but knew he needed to wait. He had to wait until he was with his sister.

Zalia looked over at him and shook her head slightly. "No. No I'm fine. I'm just not tired." She was lying, but she didn't want to worry him. If the nightmares continued, she'd warn him, because perhaps her father was around after all. But she just stayed quiet on it for now, not wanting to cause any unnecessary worry.

"We need to head out as soon as it's dark."

"Of course," he said, rubbing his hair a bit. A shower is what he needed. "If you need to feed," he started, having a slight guess to what might be keeping her up, "You should lure someone to a spot in a direction we aren't headed." He wanted to join her, but that may lead to too much suspicion, besides the fact that it was day. "Just remember, if you need me," he said, pointing to his ring before sifting through his bag and taking what he needed.

"I'll be back soon." He left the room to head to the bathroom.

Zalia listened to him and nodded. "I'm okay. I'm only a half-vampire, so it's okay. I can go longer than normal." She smiled at him reassuringly and nodded when he mentioned what to do if she needed him. After he left, she just stood and stared out the window. She really needed to figure out what to do.

And what happened after Alezander fed from his sister? Would they just go home and go on with life? Or would something need to be done about Maria? She didn't know, and it worried her. What if things changed? She just wasn't sure.

Alezander didn't take long, and he soon returned to the room, surprised to see Zalia by the window. He didn't say anything right away, but put his things into his bag, and went to the mirror. He stood in front of it for several long moments, his eyes first glancing around it to see if something had fallen from it, and then just at its smooth surface. He eventually gave a sigh, and packed it away into his bag as well.

"Are you almost ready?" he asked her now, resting his bag on the bed. The sun was nearly gone from the sky, and they would need to make their way out soon.

Zalia almost didn't hear him, but she managed to catch the tail end of his question. "Oh, yes. I am." She made sure her own possessions were packed, and then took everything in hand. "Let's go." As soon as the darkness was enough that they could be out, she would go with him to the path. Her pace was quick again, even though she felt rather sluggish. She wanted to get there in time, to get to his sister before sunrise.

Alezander had to drink from his sister's blood after all. Or else things just would never be the same.

He kept her pace, and this time, he did not object to it. It seemed that something was bothering him. But he kept his eyes ahead of him as they walked, not even glancing to the sides of them if he heard a slight noise from an animal or such. He wanted to hurry.

"Zalia," he finally said, feeling that he should let her know the situation they were in. "I didn't recieve a letter about my sister's health today. I fear that is a bad thing. I don't know if my sister must be alive for this to work, but, in any case, we must be prepared for the worst."

Zalia noticed something was bothering him, and she didn't like it. When he finally told her, she felt her face paling a little. "Let's hurry." She took his hand and started running. It made her a little dizzy to do so, but that wasn't going to make her stop. She ran with him as fast as she could go. They had to get to his sister before 'the worst' happened.

She couldn't let him stay under the control of Maria. It was all her fault and she just couldn't let him suffer that.

"Don't tire yourself," he warned, but did follow her pace. But he wasn't just going to let her do that for long. He eventually scooped her into his arms, carrying her as he ran. Before, he had felt that if he ran, it would only make him panic more. But now he knew it made him feel better, that he was doing his utmost to be there as soon as possible.

After quite a while of running, there came another town into their view. This one had large houses lining the path, extravogant estates, and beautiful yards. He knew then, that this was the place. His sister would settle for no less.

Zalia squeaked softly as she was picked up. "A-Alezander!" she protested with a soft blush. However she let him carry her, because then they moved faster. "Which house is hers?" she asked as they at last came to town.

She didn't mention how completely terrible she felt. She was starving in both senses, dizzy and fatigued. But she wouldn't let on until Alezander had his sister's blood safe inside his stomach.
