I have wanted to try out text based RP for a long time, but I've been too scared to try. (When I say a long time, well, I think it's closing in on 15 years now). I've played tabletop RPG for many years - mostly D&D and Pathfinder, but also some flavors of World of Darkness, plus some other random RPGs - but I've never really dared to do it by text online. (Which is strange, since I have more time to think when writing, and I'm kinda slow sometimes)
So here goes. I realized all I had to do was try, and now I think I'm ready to try out this new world of RP.
In real life I'm soon done with university, about ten years later than everyone else, but I'm getting there. I live with my husband and a cat, and want to be an analytical chemist when I grow up (Grow up? It's not like I'm already past 30 years old or anything). I love world building and character creation, and in my homebrew world I have way too many important characters to count. I do the NaNoWriMo-thing every year (www.nanowrimo.org - basically, write a 50.000 word long story during November), and love watching Critical Role. I'm also trying to teach myself Finnish, for some odd reason, and I can almost tell people my name now. Which is progress, since all I knew in Finnish two months ago was a swear-word or two.
I found this page looking for a place to store my RPG characters for D&D, then after looking around, found out that this was something a bit different than what I expected. It was a good surprise, don't get me wrong. So now I'm here, not sure what I'm getting myself into, hoping it will be fun. At least I'll learn something new.
I'm not a native English speaker, so if I derp up your language in any way, I'm sorry. I mean, I have lived on the Internet since about 2002, so I should be pretty fluent, but I still do some embarrassing mistakes.

Hey buddy! RPR's D&D playerbase is steadily growing from what I've noticed, so hopefully you'll find some fellow adventurers soon! It's definitely a different experience playing by text, but I like it just as much as face to face. While combat is slower in pace, it enables more depth with scene setting and character development.
Have you heard of roll20? It's a great tool for playing tabletops online. Me and my friends use it for dice rolls and maps along with RPR for our text posts.

We are just about the opposite! I have been role playing through text, on and off, for fifteen years. I am too scared to try tabletop, plus time constraints.
