If you are looking for RPs that last a long time- I'd recommend going into the 'Looking for RP' area- and hitting the 'Find RPs!' button- when you scroll to the bottom you can find helpful options that will let you fine tune what kind of a RP partner you want to find.

For example- you can toggle it so you can find people who tend to want stories that last a long time rather than a one-shot story that is short, you can also toggle it so it will only show you RP requests from people who are online at the moment.

However you can also post your own topics there if you are looking for something specific~
