I was never loved...
...So I stole hearts.
A strand of jade colored hair fell lightly over beautiful, pale, ivory skin. Amethyst irises had the sun reflected into them, and a slight smirk was drawn across a male's delicate, yet chiseled features. Fingernails painted ebony rested on a finger that pulled across soft lips that would stay into a smirk. A foot was rested against red brick as another was rested upon pavement. With a slight tap and click, a male who was listening to music looked up slowly. He looked up to see a female who had been heartbroken. The male pushed himself towards her and smiled charmingly.
He wiped the female's tears away and grinned seductively.
"I noticed your heart is broken," he said as this female nodded in agreement.
"Then let me mend your wounds and steal your heart. Allow me to fix this wrong. Will you let me?" He asked as the female who nodded again. He grasped her fair hands and pulled her into a dark area. He softly kissed her lips as her eyes changed from the teared up blue eyes to amethyst. She falls to her knees and then upon the upper part of her body as she was deemed lifeless.
The date was February fourteenth, the same day many broken hearts would go missing.
The male who had kissed the heartbroken female held a glowing broken hart in his hand. His eyes glowed slightly as well as he pulled it back together, fixing it.
I stole hearts...
...because I was never loved.
I feed off of sweet love.
I am Valentine.

If there was one "holiday" that Shay hated, it would be Valentine's day. The sappy, romantic holiday was practically his mortal enemy simply because well, to look at him, it was obvious he didn't really have the option of having a girlfriend. His scarred complexion had lost its appeal among the ladies, although that didn't stop him from trying.
So when February 14th arrived yet again, he opted to get some fresh air--and instead found himself witness to...not a romantic scene when he heard the distinct sound of a body hitting the ground.
His hunter's instincts awakened immediately and he sprinted towards the sound in time to see someone holding a glowing...something. He wasn't sure what it was, but the lifeless body on the ground made it readily apparent that this person--if the jade-haired young man could be called such--was responsible.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Shay demanded, approaching in his light windbreaker, jeans and sneakers. He might not look like much, but he was much faster than he looked. His hand was already traveling to his pocket, trying to determine if this was a case of homicide or something a little more...supernatural.

The male would put the small heart shaped object into his black jacket while his hands wrapped around it, making room for his hands to rest in his pocket as well. His lips would curve into another smirk as he walked from the darkened shadows, stepping over the dead body, then narrowed his seductive eyes. He ran his pale fingers along his own lips once more as his tongue followed the trace.
He put his finger between his choker and neck and tugged slightly upon the black leather.
"Well natrually, I think the answer to that would be 'minding my own business,' and now answering your question. Someone as heartbroken as you does not bring a smirk on my face for nothing."
The male had three jewels under his left eye. He had two orange ones and one red one in the middle as they would start to glow slightly. He pulled his other hand out of his pocket, pushing the heart deeper in as he does.
"Something such as a fragile heart must be put into better hands, do you agree?
I mean...with a broken heart comes a broken life, correct?"
Valentine's eyes narrowed at the male as his smirk became a sexy Cheshire Cat smile.
Valentine was very persuasive. He would make having no love such a terrible thing. When the person would agree with him, it would be like telling him to take it and put it back together. He would always do so, but he would never return the hearts back to their owners. Nope, he would keep them and feed off of their love energy to live during the year when it is not valentines day.

He was going to be dealing with a live wire here, and Shay scowled. This wasn't his usual banter with a vampire moment.
His hand fixed itself on the stake and the dagger in his pockets, readying himself for anything; most likely for an attack.
Shay narrowed his eyes. "I'm not heart-broken. I just haven't found the right woman. And a fragile heart needs love to cherish it; not to be devoured under the guise of lust." He paused and then asked, "Or have you convinced yourself that rejection--even if it is not your own--is as tasty as love?"

Valentine's smirk soon disappears as he looks down. He knew this guy was right, but he didn't really want to admit it yet. Valentine's hand rested over his face as his other hand tightened into a fist. He was trying to keep his cool but was having trouble because of all the sorrow he felt inside.
"You try being a vamp who was abandoned and was almost killed by humans as a sacrifice."
Valentine moved his hand away from his face. He bares his fangs and hisses at the man, his eyes turning crimson.
"Ya'know I try to be calm and keep my smirk but you have just broken the chain that keeps me at bay from biting you. Besides, I'm not just some lovesick vamp. I have special talents."
He snapped as everything around them would freeze but Shay and Valentine would still stand there untouched. Valentine would quickly grasp Shay's arm and pulls him close as he was about to take a large bite out of his neck, but stopped.
Valentine's eyes narrowed as he looked down.
"Just...go away....please don't ruin my day with your words of truth."
He snapped as everything turned back regular as he leaned against the red bricked wall again.

"I'd really rather not, if it's all the same to you," Shay murmured. Honestly, becoming a vampire held no appeal to him whatsoever. A werewolf he could understand and get behind, hell, he'd enjoy taming the beast. But a blood-sucking vampire? No. Never in a million years.
He blinked and in that moment time seemed to stop. No, wait; time did stop. Except for him and the vampire, and those fangs glistening far too near his neck; his eyes flashed and he brought the stake out of his pocket. He'd have to drive the stake up and into the creature's chest--he hated being short!
And then he was being let go? "Don't ruin your day? What about hers? What about the rest of them you're going to feed on?"

"Their hearts are broken. I feed off of their love after I mend their hearts back together. Nothing more, nothing less. If I were human I would take my own heart and try to fix it...but things don't work that way. Optimism isn't really what I have anymore so it wouldn't matter, And-" Valentine noticed the seriously sharp piece of wood and his eyes narrowed. "Seriously? We're you really gonna try to kill me with that?" He snatched the stake and growled. "What part of 'I'm not like other vampires' do you not get? You just can't give me a splinter and I die. Poof. It's over. Once again,I'm not like other vampires." He crushed the stake into mere wood shaving and sighs. His jade hair covered his amethyst eyes as he huffed.
"It's just not my day is it? If you wanna kill me stick a golden blade through my chest but otherwise give up."
Valentina's cool act was running on low as he started mumbling, still wearing his smirk.
"Gonna try to stick a pointy piece of wood in my chest. Ha. Real funny. Gonna try to kill me and stuff," he continued his mumbling.

Shay tried to keep his grip on the stake but it really wasn't possible against a vampire. He let it go, a moment of despair washing over him.
"What do you mean stakes don't harm you?" If that was true, he should have been dead by now. He growled and then didn't bother with the silver blade either. Gold. Like he could find gold when all he had was wood and silver. "You're serious."
He scowled as the vampire began to mutter under his breath. "How are you exactly "fixing" hearts anyway? Seems a bit, I dunno, contrary to kill someone to help their heart."

"When I take the human heart away, it is split in half. I pull it back together and it becomes more warm. Their spirit stays with me as I keep their heart with me. If I get annoyed by one of them, I shatter their heart againts pavement. You could say I am in love with the dead."
Valentine winked at Shay and smirked.
"They don't feel the pain and they are never lonely."
He saw it was starting to get late as he held out his hand.
"I can show you more if you wish."

Shay snorted and regarded the hand warily. Did he believe anything that the vampire told him? Maybe. Well stakes and golden daggers he had no choice. But he had no idea what the vampire had in mind now.
"Are you going to feed on me?" he asked instead, staring at the hand before his gaze flicked back to the vampire's face. "No offense, but I'm not exactly trusting of vampires. If you know what I mean."

"Ouch...such stereotyping. I won't feed off you, promise. I even cross my heart and hope to die."
He holds out his hand closer to Shay as he licks his lips and winks. "What harm could a lovesick vamp do anyway?"
He chuckled softly.

He chuckled softly.
Shay smirked, though he eyed the dead woman. "That can be arranged. Also, quite a lot if one put its mind to it." He licked his lips nervously and then took the vampire's hand. His whole body screamed at him, but he did it anyway.
"What exactly did you want to show me?" And please don't say your fangs, he added silently.

"I wouldn't usually bring a man to my place but today is new for us all." Valentine tugged Shay a little as they started walking. He was planning on going straight to his home untill he heard heartbroken tears. He let go of the tense feeling hand of Shay and saw the female who was crying. His head tilted as he gave a slight smirk. He was thinking if he should resist or just take her then.
Now he was worried: Going to the vampire's lair? What was he getting into? Then again, if he survived this, he might have a better understanding of how vampires were changing.
He heard the sobbing a little after the vampire did, and then when he saw the girl, he grabbed the vampire's arm. "Let her go. She's not worth your trouble." And frankly he didn't want to get between a feeding vampire and its victim unless he had to.

His fangs appeared as he looked at Shay. "That girl....she is broken hearted, giving up hope for love! Let me have her!" His voice was gravely while he hissed at her.
Shay grimaced, hesitating. He hated himself, but he knew he couldn't stand between a vampire and his prey--not like this. Next time, he promised himself, next time he would have that golden dagger.
He stepped back, cursing himself as he did so, and let the vampire do whatever it was going to do.
