hi guys!

I notice on a lot of websites now the option to have a dark/low contrast theme as an option.

Could just be the current theme grey scaled with some alterations.


Personally, this is easier on my eyes and I quite like muted colour schemes. I'm sure it's the same for other people too!

i wont go as far as to say i'd pay for the option to buy site skins, or something like that (even though i personally would)

possibly do event ones that active members can unlock (or is that too much like virtual pet sites, lol)

i'd love any form of this, as its quite jarring to go from any of my other frequently visited sites that all have dark themes.

if a website has the option, then all of the ones i frequent are dark theme.

RPR doesn't have quite the high contrast of a blindingly white background like many websites do, so the current theme doesn't hurt my eyes. Dark themes are just easier.
That said, sometimes websites do their dark themes all wrong and make it just as hurtful as the normal colors. ie. straight white on black.
and, because i without fail run into people who say that is better, as someone who has spent 5 years in the eye health field i can tell you it absolutely is not and in fact can be worse of a strain than just the brightness of a white background.

I definitely think a grayscale dark version would work beautifully on here! I know i would use the crap out of it

There is an addon for both firefox and chrome called Stylish.

You can create user styles for sites like RPR and make a dark layout on your own.

Night mode site skins would be easier on the eyes. I use it for Twitter and Youtube. Different site skins would be a nice option.

Nice fix! But ideally we need a skin for mobile usage too 😄

Not against paying for certain site themes if I had the money. I prefer the darker themes as well. Thankfully with RPR's parchment background and browns, it's not as bad as other places so my eyes are not as strained.

So, some basic themes like we have with profile templates and paid ones? Just as long as any darker themes are not "high contrast" with bright colors (yellow, white, neons) on a black background. That's worse imo x.x
Usually for anything I can customize, I have a few shades or so above black - so like a super super dark gray, and then mid purple's and blue's and pink. Those are my chosen colors lol, so the ability to have something like that for the while site or the ability to customize that for the whole site (like in groups) would be awesome!
