Hi,

As age goes up, it can be difficult to find a group or people to roleplay with, it's how I feel like.

People got more and more expectations and less and less willing to bend their RP to get to something, and here it goes, you can't find yourself a partnership, I know I do.

I know where and waht I won't do, but on the other hand, I got inmind what I would like to do, but finding fitting people to meet the world-building is difficult.

Guys, would you help me to find a way around that, and might just see from another angle with tested and interesting and no judging bla, guilt-bla blaming, please?

Like, I don't know,
Widen the plot
Give short guidelines
So on. ...
I've experienced much the same. As I've gotten older, I've tended to get a lot more picky about my RP. A lot of it is knowing exactly what I'm looking for in a partner and just... not wanting to settle for less. I also have much less RP time now that I'm older and I don't feel like wasting it on an RP I don't feel like is going to go anywhere.

I tend to surf the LFRP ads more than post my own, or check who people I've enjoyed writing with are friending. If I see a potential match, I'll approach and initiate a conversation. If we sync, great! If not, we find out before either of us wastes our time. It's not a function of age in my partners; I've had great RP from a 19 year old and a 40 year old. It just has to do with finding a compatible partner who enjoys mutual storytelling.

In terms of my own characters, I'm willing to bend settings and details for certain RP's. The problem I run into is more if a custom built world doesn't appeal to me. That's not a knock on you as you said you enjoy world building but, for me, that's a lot of work. I'd rather use a pre-established setting most the time or one I'm already familiar with. It helps keep the world 'steady'.

My advice... perhaps try creating a group for the world you want to build. Invite collaborators and expect you'll get maybe 10% of the folks who answer actually contributing. Post ideas, establish what you like... I've seen RPers here whose whole thing is world building. Cruise the forums too for compatible looking writers and shoot them a message. There's thousands of people on here, someone somewhere is going to have like interests.
Really cant summarize it any better than Darkon here already has!

RP is a very personalized thing. Trust me, I know how you feel being in that hole of 'not being able to find someone.' It takes a great deal of compatibility to find someone who will jive with your writing style! That doesn't mean all of your RP partners need to be this 100% Match though! In my experience, you'll always find some sort of quirk somewhere or another with your partners. Sometimes those quirks though make the writing that much more fun!

I find myself being much the same as Darkon. I surf the forums and see what people are posting. The biggest thing for me, personally, is that I don't know what I want until I see it. Probably my biggest curse is just that! I can browse and browse, but until I see someone or something that makes me go 'OH! THAT!,' I'm just a fish, floundering around, unsure of what I want to do! XD

As for age? Well, Darkon and I are an example of that! I have had WONDERFUL RP's with DarkonDreams. We are a solid 8 years apart I believe? I personally don't look at that though. I look at the ideas being presented, the characters who are to be used, and how the writing flows. I have friends on here who are 20's. I have friends on here who are 30's. I could not point a finger and identify any of them off the back of my hand though, because I personally don't look at that. I don't think age should be much of a thing at all. (Except for obvious legal boundaries, such as minors!)

For someone like yourself, who sounds like you 'Know What You Want,' that's where the Forums just have to be the fishing pond. Give some good detailed examples of what you're looking for in your forum post, and see if anyone bites. The more specific you are, the more likely you'll find someone who shares the same interests. (Granted, at the exchange of maybe finding them slower, since you'll be waiting for that perfect person to respond to your forum.) That's just how it goes though. I think I was RPing on here for at least over a year and a half before I started to find more styles I enjoyed most, and the friends that I have now. (Which, as Darkon mentioned, they make great Stalking Tools! XD) Just check out who your friends are also becoming friends with! Chances are you all have some sort of shared interests, otherwise one of you would have never have become friends in the first place! =P I've made a few friends on here by poking someone who a friend of mine met, then I just became a creep and reached out to them. BadaBoom! Now we're all good friends! (The only form of stalking that is acceptable! >.> )

Time and Persistence!
Rome wasn't built in a day! (*insert what ever other metaphors and sayings you'd like, if that helps*)

You are the RPer that you make yourself out to be! Show that in your forums, in your profiles, and even in basic conversations. (Example: All my joking and lighthearted remarks in everything I've written here! =P) I know who I am, and I make sure everyone sees me this way too! Just be yourself, and show yourself. People will love it or hate it. Find those people who dig it, and slap the shackles of friendship on them!

That's all I've got!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for your answers, you made me think a bit about it.

I'll keep looking for advice I guess, as for world building...well, mine is completely finished by now, but I do have more precise ideas of what I'll do and not do, for sure.

Have a nice day! ;)
If you're wanting to rp within a world you've already built, I suggest creating a group and providing background information for people to catch up and build a character around. That way you can have multiple people playing parts and having fun with the world you've created! You can even host your own plots within the group, and encourage people to do the same.

Either way, I hope you find what you're looking for! <:

This is indeed a very nice advice! Thanks!
I wish you the same as well! :)

I am late for discussion, but I feel the same... Gotta have patience, I guess. It's just that RPR is not the only place where this occurs, and I keep getting more and more exasperated. It's a vicious cycle...
Don't mind me, I'm just rambling. I'll just follow the advices, given by the previous posters.
