The flaxen-haired mermaid swam towards the surface, her arms reaching in front of her in undulating motions. Her tail, gleaming golden as the sun stuck it, moved in rapid motion, propelling her body smoothly through the clear water. Finally, she came to a momentary stop. She allowed her eyes to peek above the surface of the water... the coast was clear.
Only a top of a blonde head and a pair of eyes were visible at first, but soon she had hauled her body onto the rock, letting herself bask in the sun. Her tail was in full display, its scales shifting from an blue to golden as they shimmered in the light.

He leaned against one of the dock posts in a casual manner, keeping a close eye on his men as they boarded the warship. It was an impressive vessel. 36 meters long and 7 meters wide, the image of a flaming arrow in flight was expertly painted onto each side of the massive barque. The sails, tightly secured while the ship was docked, were a pleasant light yellow, and its figurehead was an intricate carving of Apollo, his bow drawn and aimed out towards the sea. It was breathtaking.
Despite its beauty, General Tsou was visibly unnerved by the ship. At best, he was a weak swimmer, and the only ape in his present company. The possibility of some disaster sending him overboard was almost an unbearable thought. As the sea air gently tousled his hair, Tsou let out a small sigh. On a nearly perfect day like this, it was difficult to worry about something such as that, and besides, he was needed on the battlefield, and the fastest way there was by sea.
With his men boarded, Tsou tentatively walked up the gangplank and onto "The Firestarter". With one final check of everything, the journey was underway.

Half an hour had passed, and The Firestarter had just managed to pass the last of the mainland's cliffs and move into deeper waters. General Tsou had retreated to his cabin as soon as they departed from the dock. He felt an acute dizziness as his world rocked on the ocean swells, and had yet to find his sea-legs. A sharp cry from the Crow's nest pulled him quickly from his concentration;
"Man overboard, starboard side!"
Tsou stumbled onto the deck and to the starboard rail as the Barrelman relayed his findings to another member of the crew. Tsou motioned for his spyglass as the crew member breathlessly relayed the message once more,
"Sir, the Barrelman claims there is someone, a woman, perhaps, perched on one of those rocks about 50 meters out."
General Tsou sucked in a breath and thought for a moment.
"Anchor The Firestarter here, I will take one of the utility boats and a couple of men to get her." He decided, folding his spyglass. With his orders, the utility boat was quickly prepared, and Tsou, along with two other men, began rowing out to meet the woman on the rock.
