Every time I start up an RP, it never gets off the ground. Either nobody responds or nobody responds. And now i'm just generally kinda sad because I always have to join someone else's RP, when I have ideas that (I think) people would like.
I know, it's a first-world problem, but i'm just a tad bit peeved.
Are there any suggestions to reel in more players? How would I make an RP more interesting? These two questions are currently my priority, especially when i came here to mainly create RPs. I still like to RP with other people, i just want to try something that ISN'T cliche highschool or cliche dragonslaying quests. (Don't get me wrong those are fun too)
Well, I'd suggest getting to be good friends with a few people. I know a user on here named Dreath, and we're good friends and whenever one of us, alot of times me, gets an idea for a weird rp we do it. I'm like that with two or three other friends and we do some crazy rp's.

Yeah. I only have one friend that is really up for anything so far, and he's really chill about it. (not going to say who it is so I don't embarrass them)
So i guess i'll just chat around in the OOC until someone is my friend? I'm not sure how to acheive that.
Well just talk and rp with them.

Alright. I hope I got the hang of this.
I'm sure you will

Thanks!
Like mentioned earlier, the only way that you'll know for sure that you'll have people up for RP ideas is to have a few close friends on the site that would be up for anything. If you're hoping to attract new people, then you'll have to follow the current trend on the site unfortunately in order to catch an audience. Either that, or pitch your idea really well or even try it on the adults section if you want a mature audience.
There are people on this site who flake, you're always going to deal with a certain amount of it. It's easier to just stop responding than to tell people you're no longer interested, busy, lacking in your inspiration, etc. It's rude as hell, but it still happens all the time. I've been on this site a year, and I still experience it.

That being said, it takes a while but you will find other rp partners who mesh with your style, stick around and match up on your preferences. It takes some patience and some sorting, but it will happen. Communication is of the utmost importance. Collaborate with your partner on what their expectations, limits, favorites, etc are. Everyone has a plot they'd like to explore and being able to negotiate or take turns playing out what you want is rewarding.
I have a running joke that one of my characters is cursed because every single person I have ever tried to RP her with has flaked on me. A couple people I've already RPed with before have joined in with her and now we're going pretty good.

Tbh all it takes it patience, and it's really crappy to deal with having people bail, especially when they don't even tell you what was wrong but.. you'll find people that you click with eventually.

I can hardly add anything else to things that have been said already. We can have a discussion, see if our preferences match, if you wish. PM me if you feel like it. I haven't made much myself since I still feel somewhat lost, plus some other reasons I won't voice.
