The vast kingdom spanned the borders of forests, fields and ocean, prospering easily with the mass of people spread far and wide. The day was sunny and warm and near the beach peasants were swimming or fishing. In the fields children were picking flowers and farmers were working. In the forests lumberjacks cut down trees for carpenters to mold. In the expanse of town that circled the king's castle, placed at the very center of the bustling city, people went about their daily lives selling goods and cleaning houses and generally enjoying the warm weather.
Near the gate of the wall that circled the castle for protection stood Capell. It didn't take a mind-reader to see that he was displeased. The man was rather interesting in appearance; Deep green eyes were almost hidden by a black bandana that covered the entire top of his head and inch long strands of blonde hair stuck out from beneath the raggedy piece of cloth, partially covering the pale white skin of his neck. Narrow shoulders led down to naturally scrawny arms, slight hints of muscle tone apparent when not covered by long sleeves. If one was observant, they would notice there was a slight, subtle bulge around his torso caused by his light weight leather armor.
Nimble fingers were protected by a pair of cloth gloves, clearly worn to allow full range of motion. Simple cloth pants were held up by a thin rope tied around his waist. Looped through this rope was a pouch for holding various knick-knacks.Pants were similar to his shirt. Brown, cloth and trim. These pants tucked into a pair of leather boots, held fast to his feet by buckles. The outfit was admittedly bland, consisting of nothing but browns. But there was something sneaky about the way the man stood as he stayed there with a scowl on his face.

Lazaras stood there in silence a ways away from the gate. His massive form easily seen over the heads of people who walked by his 7'5" form as though he wasn't even there. The spines on his back quivered slightly as his pitch black eyes were locked on the gate. More specifically Capell. He smirked lightly at his appearance and shrugged as after a moment, he turned about and disappeared down an alleyway.
She had shifted into her human form before entering the city, not wanting to draw too much attention to herself. Hopefully people with her skin colour were not considered slaves here. Standing at exactly four feet, the woman was easily overlooked (literally) unless one took the time to examine her attire. Her raven hair was up in a messy bun, bangs falling on either side of her smooth, dark brown face, slightly glowing golden eyes peering out from them. A black shirt clung tightly to her torso, stopping just above her black leather pants, a worn black leather pouch dangling from a loop. The tight legs of her pants were tucked into the stiletto boots on her feet. An ankh hung from a thin cord around her neck.
Mink had been perusing different items at the various shops and stalls until she caught a glimpse of the man near the gate. She stood where she was and looked him over. Though her eyesight was diminished while in human form, she could still see enough to deem him more interesting than probably anyone else there. Besides the man that had just entered the alley.

Capell wasn't stupid. Most of the time. Actually, he was nothing if not observant. His eyes had easily noticed the tall man, and when he disappeared into the alley his suspicion (and curiousity) grew. He was supposed to be waiting for a messenger from the king, but it wouldn't hurt for the lad to wait a few minutes for him.
Capell took a few steps away from the gate, peering towards the alley until he noticed from the corner of his eye another figure. Compared to the giant he had just witnessed, this one was incredibly short! Compared to him even, the female was short. He could feel her gaze upon him, so he did what he would always do.
He flashed her a debonair smile and a flirtatious wink.

He quietly walked down the alley way a ways and stopped before a man completely covered by shadows as a light smirk crossed his face.
"Yep. He's there alright. This is where I begin my mission. Take care of things while I'm gone."
He then turned about again and started walking quietly back to the end of the alley way and quickly took notice that capell had moved away from the gate. He chuckled softly to himself as he shrugged lightly and wasting no time, began walking towards him. As he moved, his right hand began twitching slightly, the muscles under the bandages that wrapped them pulsated and quivered a bit. He stopped and glanced at his arm as a light frown crossed his face.
"No Tasogare...no reason to devour him...yet..."

(( I will be using my twins, but will be making one post for both of them. They have seperate profiles, but will be using Mirage's to post. Here is Trey's for easy reference: Trey's Profile ))
There seemed to be a large crowd of people gathering around one particular stall. The vendor was selling jewelry he had gathered from exotic and far off places. And it seemed that everyone wanted to see and buy them.
"I can't see anything," cried a voice amidst the crowd. A young woman was doing her best to maneuver through the people to see the fine decorations everyone was talking about. But she was just a little shorter than others to be able to get a good view.
"we'll just come back when everyone is gone," said a young man behind her, seeming far more calm than she was.
"But, there might not be anything left!" But she knew he was right, and she managed to push her way out of the crowd and into an open area on the street. She was dressed oddly for this area, but it made it apparent what her skills were. She wore a short, white dress with light blue trim, and a long black cape, reaching almost to her ankles. She had matching gloves. reaching up to her elbows, and black knee-high boots, gold adorning the top of them in design. She brushed out her dark purple hair, and turned her violet eyes to her brother, who had just made his way out of the crowd as well.
He was dressed almost opposite of her, wearing a black shirt, pants, and shoes, while sporting a long white jacket with black trimming. Various belts could be seen on his person, and a black strap was around his neck.
"Let's just head back to the inn, Mirage," he said, seeming to be annoyed that she wanted to explore the city. She glared back at him, not believe that he wasn't interested.
But before anything else, she noticed that they were very close to the castle. "Ah! I want to see it up close! Please, Trey?" She put her hands together and gave her brother an innocent look. He let out a sigh, and waved his hand at her, telling her to lead the way.
It didn't take long before they reached the gate, and Mirage was grabbing the iron bars the gave one of the few views of the castle. "Oh wow! I haven't seen anything this majestic before. I wish I could live there, and be a princess." She sighed dreamily, drifting off into thought.
Trey noticed an odd looking male nearby, but hardly wanted to stare at him. The way he looked at it, they were oddities here as well. He commented on his sisters remarks, saying, "You hardly have the grace or class to be a Princess." Mirage looked back at him, scoffing at his words.

Capell knew right away that Lazaras was heading towards him. So he lifted up one finger in the typical 'one moment' signal, and made his way towards the other pretty lady who had caught his eye. The twin girl that was now at the gates. He approached just in time to hear her brother's words of her being a princess. Capell took her gloved hand and kissed the back of it lightly. His skin was a bit cool to the touch.
"I'm afraid I will have to agree, my lady. Your beauty and grace far outshines that of any princess or queen." That charming smile was flashed at her and he released her hand. "You wished for something from that stall, did you not? Allow me one moment."
He slipped away and squeezed into the crowd, making his way through it rather easily. It took a minute but then he returned, clasping something around her wrist, over her glove, with gentle fingers. "There. I hope it is to your liking." It was gold, to make her necklace, with dark purple and turqouise gems set into it in sparkling patterns.
And yes, he was shirking Lazaras to hit on a girl.

Mirage was speechless when the stranger made his way over and kissed her hand, and continued to be speechless when he placed the piece of fine jewelry over her glove. She blushed, as everything that had just happened hit her at once. "Ah... um... Th-Thank you!" she said, stuttering as she looked from him, to the golden piece, and back to him.
Trey let out an annoyed sigh, making his way over to his sister and the male. "I hardly think it's appropriate to give gifts to someone you don't know," he said, looking to the man. "And I don't think it's appropriate to accept gifts from strangers," he said, now looking at his sister. He didn't like the fact that someone would just come over and act like that to his sister.
Mirage looked up to her brother, frowning at bit at his words, but then grinned, looking back to the flattering male. "He's right, you know. I am Mirage. And this is my brother, Trey." She agreed with her brother, and decided to become aquaintances, rather than strangers.

Mink grinned when the man winked at her, eyes unchanging, but remembered her fangs weren't as long or noticeable when she was human. So much for trying to spook him. She began making her way over to him, intending to find out just who exactly was he, but then the talkative girl had captured his attention.
Mink shrugged to herself and continued meandering toward the gate. She glanced sideways at the tall man that had now reappeared from the alley. Her curiosity grew. But that would have to wait until after she got what she wanted. Casually strolling up to Capell's side, she waited until the girl had finished introducing herself and her brother to clear her throat.
"And I am Mink." She glanced up at the man, watching his face closely.

Capell wasn't deterred by the brother's words. "My name is Capell," he said to all three of them. "It's a pleasure to meet you all." He smirked at the boy. "There, now we are no longer strangers and therefore it is acceptable for her to take the gift I've given her." He looked at Mink and winked at her again, "Would you like a trinket to enhance your natural beauty as well, my lady?"
He was quite the smooth talker. His earlier scowl had disappeared at the presence of pretty girls. Indeed, his life was almost bearable at the moment!

A slight smirk appeared on her face. This man amused her. But there was something strange about him that she couldn't quite place. She mentally cursed her weakened abilities as she attempted to probe his mind for details on who he was. The probing didn't much work because of the form she was in, but she tried nonetheless. Shifting here and now might be risky. And besides, she wasn't too keen on revealing her powers just yet. Unless Capell could somehow sense her presence in his mind.
"No need. The only jewelry I need is this." She indicated to the ankh at her neck. "Oh..and this," she said as an afterthought, pointing to the silver ring in the cartilage part of her left ear.

((I want to join with this new character... But I have to be less lazy and fill out her profile. She is a rift pirate. Meaning she travels dimensions stealing and looting ))

((Cooool! Feel free to join!))
(Sounds neat! o: )
Mirage frowned as Capell commented to Mink about her beauty, and Trey couldn't help but laugh on the inside. He had known he was only flirting, and now Mirage would be jealous. Then he frowned. That meant he was going to have to listen to her for the rest of the day, complaining about how no guy ever seemed interested in her.
Mirage crossed her arms, and looked at Mink. She was pretty. She let out a quiet sigh, and turned her gaze back to the castle, not wanting to create a scene in this large crowd; and that surprised Trey himself.
Trey placed his hand on top of his sister's head, saying, "I'm hungry, how about you?" It was his attempt to cheer her up a bit, knowing that she liked trying new foods, and she had been talking about a place they had come across. Mirage turned, a smile now on her face.
"Ya! Let's try that place I was talking about!"
Trey gave a light laugh, always amused by how easily excited she was. He glanced over to Mink for a moment, finding something odd about her. She looked normal enough, but it was just a feeling she seemed to emit.

Capell nodded in understanding. Mink's probing did not go unnoticed. She would get nowhere unfortunately, and Capell gave her a smug little smirk. When he noticed Mirage getting a bit down and depressed, he rushed to the rescue.
"Lady Mirage, wait. Why don't we meet again sometime?" He smiled and leaned in to whisper in her ear. "It would be lovely to see such a beautiful, sweet woman again. Women can be beautiful on the outside, but as her personality she is ugly and cruel. You, my dear lady, are special. You have the appearance of a goddess and the heart of one too. Benevolent, caring."
Yep, he was laying it on thick. He pulled away and smiled at her.

He just stood there and folded his arms over his chest watching the events unfold. He caught his smirk growing a bit with amusement as he leaned against the wall of one of the stalls, it creaking loudly under his weight. He glanced at the wall as it creaked then shrugged lightly. The shrug was all it took to reveal the compromising sturdiness of the stall as it fell over on top of a cursing vendor scattering fruits and vegetables about. The crowd gathered about it looked at Lazaras as he remained standing there slightly angled as though he was still leaning against a wall. He didn't even give the crowd a second glance however as he kept his eyes on capell. After a moment he closed his eyes. A moment later his voice would echo inside Capella head.
Come on ladies man...I do believe his majesty gave you a mission...hop to it...
Come on ladies man...I do believe his majesty gave you a mission...hop to it...
She rolled her eyes at his smirk. This called for a different strategy. But she had been caught and trying to get to know him now would be more difficult. Perhaps she could apologize for the attempted intrusion. She strained to listen to what Capell was whispering to the girl. Mink huffed quietly and crossed her arms. Though her hearing wasn't quite as good as it could be in another form, she still caught the part about her (the part she had been listening for). She wondered what he would say if he knew all that had happened to her, the fact that her mere species forced her to be cruel at times. Though, her brand of cruelty was mostly saved for the privileged few who deserved it.
As her emotions continued to shape her thoughts, she noticed Trey's look, and she briefly made eye contact with him. Hmm. He was interesting, too. She glanced toward the sound of breaking things and was reminded of the other person she had been curious about.

Capell's dashing smile faltered as he heard that voice in his head. Damnit, that mage had graced another person with being able to get through his mind.
He gave me a mission, the thief mentally admitted, but he did not say exactly when it required to be done. Besides, I'm rather fond of this one. Pretty little thing, isn't she? Do you think she'd mind the hole in my head?
His eyes focused upon Mirage for a few daring moments, fixing his smile back in place. Then he looked over to Mink. "Ah, I'm sorry. Already jealous that I am complimenting another girl, Mink?"

"Jealous? No, of course not. But perhaps we can start over." He probably knew what she was talking about and she was well aware that anyone else would probably have no clue. Though the falter in his expression had been noted. Interesting.
"You seem interesting. I am merely curious." She chanced another glance at the large fellow. She also chanced peeping into his mind.
