I'm going to be hosting a D&D/Pathfinder session with my friends at my apt. and I was hoping to increase the ambiance (-adjusts the stupidest looking monocle ever on my face and ruffles the fake mustache I may or may not be wearing) by playing some instrumental music in the background.

I have a few character songs picked out. What my problem is the settings. Everything I've been looking through doesn't seem to fit for me. If anyone could help (out of the goodness of their hearts? <3 ) that would be great!

Here's what I'm looking for, and ones that i might have an idea for, I stuck next to it. Anything with a link next to it, I'm open for suggestions still, too.

Castle Interior - Not big on this one / I feel a little better about this one
Bustling Marketplace - This'll work
Forest at Night/Lost - Option 1
War Camp - seems legit/ This is pretty much exactly what I want
Equipment Shop - Maybe
Goods Shop - Option 1
Exotic Goods Shop - Because why not?
Forest Path - This'll work
Temple/Church Interior - may or may not also be a character theme?
Audience with the King - Very Menacing/ This one is better
Castle Ablaze! - Maybe?/ Option 2
Big Bad's Appearance - Option 1
Regicide - Maybe
War Tent/Strategy Discussion - Maybe?
Message from the Goddess - Not quite sure about this one
Tree Temple - I like this one
Forest Town - maybe this
Prince - Placeholder/ Maybe this one
Worry-wart Courtier - Definitely
Rogue - If there is something else like this
General - probably this one
Queen - Good enough

The ones i have links for already aren't solid so please tell me if you agree with them or not as well. I would prefer more fantasy-like music. If it is fantasy mixed with like dubstep that doesn't matter so long as its like fantasy-ish.

Thank you for at least reading this far :)
D&D has an official soundtrack by Midnight Syndicate that you can probably find on Youtube and I believe is available on Amazon. That's probably the best source of background music I've personally found outside of game soundtracks. It's got 23 tracks, so maybe some of them might suit your needs.

Edit: Also, if you're willing to buy music, I could recommend Knights of Neon, more specifically the High Rollers soundtrack volumes 1 and 2. Like Midnight Syndicate's soundtrack, it was written for tabletop RP (albeit for specific live-streamed campaign, so some of the track names might not be useful for anyone who doesn't watch the series). You can get them on Amazon.

Thanks! I did not know that! I'll take a look at those tomorrow : o

I don't really mind looking at game or show tracks either, since I'm not like, marketing this or anything. It's just for my friends and I for fun : o

Honestly, if I was to list all the games I looked at when I was preparing a soundtrack for my brother to use when DMing, you'd be trawling through it for weeks (plus most you'd have to buy the game for, some you'd have to get modding tools to access... and I can't guarantee how easy they'd be to find on youtube either). That being said, I believe The Elder Scrolls titles have fairly accessible soundtracks (separately purchasable and therefore very easy to find on youtube as well).

I was going to suggest the Elder Scrolls OSTs. I've found they work fairly well; nice ambiance for settlements and caves and such, but also battle music.

The Witcher 3 and the Soulsborne OSTs are great as well, though I'm not sure they'll match the overall theme/tone you've got going on.

Crap. A long time ago I found a great tool for ambient sound and music. I can't remember if this is the exact one, but even if not, it's similar!

I used to do the same thing when DMing, I mostly used osts from RPGs (Neverwinter Nights, Baldur's Gate, Temple of Elemental Evil etc) and ambience/shoegaze tracks among others. If you are interested - feel free to PM me and we can discuss this topic more.
