Caddoc smiled. "Thanks, little man."
E'lara scowled. "Getting sentimental, old man?" she accepted the apple anyway, and bit a good part of her apple on the first bite.

Cal smiled and returned to her brother who huffed. Cal took out another couple apples, stuffing one in Tyr's mouth as he was about to comment to his sibling. "Mmph!" Tyr took a bite of the apple as he took it out of his mouth, giving his sister a slight glare as she giggled, taking a bite of her own apple.
Caddoc and E'lara just kept walking. Several hours later, it was getting dark. Both of the mercenaries knew better than to travel in the dark, so they started looking for a secluded spot. They found a little cave just off the road. E'lara managed to shoot a deer and they roasted it over a little fire.
Tyr slumped down beside a boulder, leaning his head against his knee. Cal meanwhile sat cross legged near the fire, just staring off into space. She watched the flames dance, humming a soft tune to herself. The male faun suddenly yawned, draping the cloak over himself some more before closing his eyes. Cal glanced at her brother and smiled a bit before turning her attention back to the flames.
E'lara suddenly sat straight.
"What's wrong girl?" Caddoc asked.
"I think I heard something." she replied as she reached for her bow.
"What did you hear?"
"I'm not sure."
Caddoc got up as well. he went over to the fauns. "Get to the back of the cave, hide in the shadow."

Tyr flashed from being half asleep to alert. Cal turned to Caddoc and nodded as she put her hood up on her cloak, as she approached Tyr who stood up also putting his hood up. The two retreated to the cave, looking back at E'lara and Caddoc as they disappeared into the shadows. Both knelt beside each other with worried looks.
"Think it's another minion?" Caddoc asked.
"Quite possibly." she replied.
Caddoc doused the fire and prepared a brimstone spell. Not long after things got dark, they heard sniffing. E'lara got her bow ready and Caddoc drew his blade. "Steady girl..."
E'lara just nodded.
At that moment, two gleaming eyes appeared about ten meters ahead of them, looking straight at the two mercenaries.
"Now!" Caddoc threw the brimstone spell. The beast dodged just in time, and a tree behind him caught fire. The fire spread quickly, and before anyone knew it, the whole clearing was on fire. E'lara ran from the cave and started shooting arrow while Caddoc dashed forwards. He slashed the creature's legs several times before jumping back just in time to dodge one of its tentacles.

The twins sat there a moment as the commotion started. Seeing the beast and the sudden eruption of fire they both gasped in shock. Cal stared at the creature. "What is that thing?!" she whispered to her brother who didn't answer her.
E'lara quickly shot both of the beast's arrows. It started thrashing around, and Caddoc jumped on its back. He held on to the thick strings of hair on the creatures back, and repeatedly pierced its back with his blade He jumped forward and over the beast's head, making a huge cut across its head in the process. It crashed down to the ground, and Caddoc started hitting its neck.
When the beast was finally dead, Caddoc was drenched in blood. He didn't seem to care much about it though, he was used to it. He cleaned his blade on the beast's untouched fur and put it back in its scabbard.
"Well... that' wasn't too bad!" E'lara commented.
"Easy for you to say, I'm the one fighing it close up! I hate the damn things."

Cal and Tyr both emerged from the darkness of the cave, slowly making their way out. Both steered clear of the beast's corpse. They were quiet for a moment until Tyr spoke up. "Well so much for a quiet secluded spot." he commented, poking the corpse with his sword. Cal simply stared at the beast not sure what to do or say.
Caddoc nodded. "And if they're all the way out here... Who knows what's happened to the village!"
Cal and Tyr gave Caddoc a worried look. "Do you think they attacked the village?" Tyr asked.
"It's highly possible. We've seen a small city razed by them several days ago." Caddoc frowned. "If I remember correctly, the village is situated about a hundred feet from the forest's edge. We can easily take a look without being seen."
"If there's not a hydra present." E'lara interfered.
"You have a point." Caddoc replied.

The twins hoped they'd never have to see another Hydra again. Though it would be likely in this situation. Tyr kicked the corpse of the hydra hard. "Nasty things." he frowned as he patted his sibling's shoulder.
"Oh, this isn't a hydra." E'lara laughed loudly. "Just a bastard with too many eyes! Trust me, you'll know a hydra when you see it."
Caddoc nodded. "Hydra's can see everything about one kilometer in every direction, even with obstacles in the way. So, if we get to the forests edge... Let's just say this. If there is a hydra in the village, it will have seen us long before we get there."

The twin looked to each other and frowned. They'd never seen these kind of creatures in their lives and already felt rather terrified. Cal bit her lip. "How do you both fight with no such fear of these creatures?" she gripped her cloak tightly as Tyr glanced in to the two mercenaries.
"We're used to them." E'lara bluntly replied.
Caddoc nodded. "We've been doing this kind of stuff for over a decade know." he explained

Tyr began to walk and Cal grabbed his cloak. "What are you doing?" she asked giving him a stern look. Tyr glanced to his sister. "Well we can't stay in this clearing! What if another one of those things smells the blood of that one and decides 'Oh hey! Look some people killed my friend, now I must tear them to shreds!" Tyr mocked what he thinks would speak like in a sarcastic yet goofy sounding voice.
Caddoc chuckled.
"If another is coming, I'll hear it, don't worry." E'lara replied.
"You can't hear Chimaera's for some reason.
"True, but then again - Chimaera don't like woods."
"Fair point," Caddoc concluded, "But it's not unwise to leave this place. Even if there's another of those beasts, I'd like to get a good nights rest. We're not going to get that staying here."
E'lara nodded. "Allright little ones, better get your stuff together." Caddoc said.

The fauns both nodded, trotting over to gather their satchels. Both then approached Caddoc and E'lara to follow them.
