"Airports are the bloody worst," Kira Callaghan couldn't help muttering to herself as she pulled her luggage along with her in the crowded areas of the international airport she was currently in. Her shoes tapped loudly against the polished yet filthy floors, her legs moving swiftly to avoid the careless travellers blocking her path. "It just had to be so busy the moment I arrive." She rolled her eyes and huffed out an exasperated breath of air.
By the time Kira had gotten to the waiting area with the rows of seats that were miraculously not all taken up, Kira was worn out. She dropped her bags onto the floor and took a seat beside them, glad she had gotten everything sorted out regarding her flights and passport. All she needed to do now was wait for her flight, board it, then she'll be flown off to her destination. She just hopped nothing and no one would interrupt.

Hyperion walked happily in through the airport doors, tugging his luggage behind him. Navigating through the main area, he found where he was supposed to check in and skipped right past the line because of his business class ticket. He was excited to be travelling once more and hummed a tune softly as he went through security and to his gate mindlessly, almost as if he'd memorized the pathway.
"You've got to be kidding me." Hyperion said with a sigh approaching gate C37 "No seats, and I only arrived a few minutes late." His eyes darted around the room multiple times as he looked and hoped for an open seat. Walking around, he spot an empty seat in between a sleeping old man and a young girl who seemed to be a bit older than him. Walking up to it he turned towards the girl gesturing to the seat beside her. "This seat taken?"

Kira had taken her phone out and plugged her earphones in for music to pass by time, having forgotten to bring a book with her to read. She crossed her legs, right over left, and leaned back in her seat as music began to play in her ears. Her gaze had set on the large window walls ahead of her, showing planes both arriving and departing.
Out of the corner of her eye, a figure then appeared beside her, and Kira turned her gaze away from the glass walls to find a boy with black hair and blueish grey eyes, his frame being far taller than Kira was. From what seemed like a question in his eyes, Kira had assumed that he had asked her a question, and she had missed it. However from his gesture towards the unoccupied seat beside her, she figured out that much.
Kira gave a curt nod. "As far as I know, this seat's unoccupied. Unless of course a ghost so happened to be sitting on it." She replied, her tone flat and eyes uninterested, as if she just hadn't said a quip.

Hyperion gave a slight sigh of relief. "Sucks for the ghost then." He sat down, squeezing between the people beside him, trying not to accidentally brush against them. Once sitting, he slid down slightly and leaned back in his seat, placing his legs on a small, grey suitcase in front of him. His eyes darted around the room as he pulled out his phone from his bag. Leaning close to the screen, Hyperion started tapping away loudly and would occasionally let out a short laugh, smile, or a disapproving look.
Finishing what he was doing on his phone, Hyperion's gaze set on Kira. Her face was well, perfect. Her olive skin seemed amazingly smooth and her hair was something anyone would die for. Her frame was small and she almost looked like the very fact that she was going to sit on a plane for about seven hours seemed like it could break her. On the other hand, she also looked very cute, almost like a small animal that needed to be protected - except for the permanent scowl on her face. Realizing his stare was quite noticeable, he turned away from her slightly, trying to make the fact he was looking at her not so apparent.

He was staring. Kira knew it. After years of being used to being stared at, Kira somehow mastered the art of knowing when someone was gazing at her. She was used to the small weight of someone's eyes on her. In her peripheral vision, she could see the movements of the boy's head, turning towards her then slightly away. However, Kira kept quiet, lightly cranking up the volume of her phone to the sound of Brendon Urie's voice singing 'I Write Sins Not Tragedies'.
Kira unknowingly drummed her fingers against her knee in tune with the music, a habit of hers she never seemed to notice unless someone pointed it out. Her eyes gazed across the large waiting area, watching as unlucky travellers looked for any empty seats. Her gaze continued to travel around the room, before accidentally catching the eye of the staring boy seated beside her. Oh, cheese sticks. Kira had meant to avoid eye contact with him, so as to not make things awkward when she would catch him staring. However, Kira raised an eyebrow at him in question. "Can I help you?"

"God damn it, she saw me." Hyperion thought. He wracked his head for any possible excuse to make it seem like he wasn't staring. Accepting his fate he decided to just say what he was thinking until something popped into his head. "Oh um... sorry, I was just a bit curious as to what song you were listening to." He let out a small sigh of relief, hoping she would buy his excuse and not question him too much further. "Sorry if I was bothering you." He turned back to face forward and pulled the book 'Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers' out of his bag, placing it on his lap.
Kira softened the music's volume a bit, to hear what the boy had to say. She gave a curt nod in reply, believing his small excuse, and watched as he looked away and brought out a book out of his bag. She subtly peered over her shoulder and read the dark cover, seeing it to be a book from the Lord of the Rings series. She had never read the books, nor seen the movies, much to her siblings' dismay. However, the cover looked interesting enough that her eyes rested on the book a little too while.
Hyperion saw Kira's gaze on his book. He had watched all the movies and was now in the process of reading the books. He was happy to see that she too might like the series. Lifting up the book, he said "Have you read it? I'm about halfway through, it's quite good. He took the bookmark out of the book, turning to the page. "Do you have a favourite character? Mine's probably Aragorn if I had to pick, they're all really interesting though."
Kira blinked, watching as the boy chatted about his book. "Uhm..." A small, awkward chuckle escaped her lips. "Aragorn, who? Sorry, I haven't read the books, or watched the movies. Never really got the chance too." Kira shrugged and turned away without another word, removing her earphones and began typing away on her phone.
He let out a slight, nervous laughter. "Oh, sorry then, I guess I got too carried away. Still though, you should watch the movies or read the books, it's a great series." He slowly turned back to his own book and lifted it up, continuing to read it where he left off.
Kira nodded in reply to the man, however kept her eyes on her phone as she scrolled through the news. She had abruptly ended the short conversation they were having, mainly because he was a stranger and she did not feel like talking. She also was not up to making new friends as of the moment, or ever really.
He noticed Kira was reading the news and was about to say something about the incident that had happened earlier. He had just opened up his mouth when the flight started boarding. Hearing the announcement, Hyperion grabbed his bags and stood up, walking into the line.
The speakers blared and a woman's voice began announcing Kira's flight was boarding, and she stood up and gathered her luggage. She quickly headed over to the line, knowing that if she didn't she'd soon be one of the last to enter the plane. The once silent waiting area was now filled with chatter and luggage wheels rolling against the tiled floors of the airport. Kira took her plane ticket out and passport, and held it close, careful to not lose it or drop it now of all times.
Hyperion stood in the line and let out a loud sigh. It was long and painfully slow, and he had been unfortunate to end up at the end of the line after a series of pushes and shoves. Somehow, even though he had got up before her, he had ended up behind the girl he was talking to earlier. He let out another sigh and shuffled forward slightly as one more person was let through. Even though there were two people checking boarding cards it was still a boring wait. He kept shuffling forward every few minutes, only to find he had barely traveled a metre. Realizing how long it would take, he took out his phone and started playing a game. He played the game for a bit and soon got bored of it, putting his phone away.
After a while, the group in front of him left the line to sit down and he was now directly behind the girl from earlier. The line had advanced about half way but there was still a fairly lengthy wait. Not knowing what else to do, he tapped the girl in front of him on the shoulder. "Hey! This is such a long line isn't it? It's gonna take forever to finally get into the plane, hopefully we get on sooner rather than later though."

Kira tapped her foot impatiently as the line moved at a snail's pace. She was impatient, wanting to get this done and over with already so she could simply relax on the plane. She looked over multiple shoulders in front of her to look at the front of the line, and found that it was still a long way to go before her turn. She let out an exasperated sigh, her impatience showing.
A tap on Kira's shoulder drove her attention from the length of the line to the person behind her, and her eyes met the same blueish grey eyes from earlier. "It is quite long. The plane's probably going to take off later than expected," She replied with a nod. And, being the person Kira is, she turned back to face forward, not wanting to engage in any more conversation. She silently hoped the man would get the hint.

Hyperion noticed she turned away but decided to keep talking as he was bored and thought that she was too. "Honestly yeah, I hope the pace picks up." Almost immediately as he said that, the line moved forward quite a bit in one go, but unfortunately it did not continue at that speed and the smile on Hyperion's face turned into a frown once again. "Man that sucks, I thought it got faster but I guess not, at least we're a but further forward though." He looked down the line gauging the distance left. "We've made it about three quarters of the way I'm pretty sure, not much left to go."
