I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I apologize if it’s not.

The problem is, that last year I started roleplaying with a person, and I genuinely enjoyed it. They haven’t replied to me or been active since about 5-6 months ago.

Should I just give up hope that they will return to the site or continue to assume that they’re taking a long break?

Would it be acceptable, if I messaged them again to hear how they’re doing? I wrote to them last time about a month ago and I still haven’t gotten a reply since november last year.

Have you sent them a message asking if they wish to continue the RP. Perhaps they had a issues in real life which drew their attention from the site. Maybe their post was so late they assumed you would no longer want to RP. Perhaps they innocently forgot.

Just send them a short and polite message asking whether or not they wish to continue.

I have. Their account haven’t been active since that day either, so I also figured it would be some real life issues. But now it’s been almost half a year since I’ve heard anything from them, so I’m not quite sure what to do.

It really sucks when that happens! I'm sorry. There's not much else to do in this case, if they're inactive then they're inactive. Sending a PM might send them an email if they have those enabled, so if you didn't message them recently I'd try again.

Otherwise it's probably best to consider this a done RP. Hopefully they'll get back to you on this though, it sucks to worry about an RP partner!

I’ve sent them a few messages, but they haven’t been replied too and from what I’ve seen, they haven’t been online either.

You’re completely right, I was also just wondering a bit if I should be concerned for them - I haven’t had too much experience with my roleplaying partners just disappearing from here, without any notice.
Unfortunately, that's the reality of online friends/RP partners; we don't know what has happened in their real lives. It could be something serious, or it could be something awesome (for example, they had a baby! Now their time is taken up). Sadly we cannot know which way the pendulum has swung, so it's best not to fret about it; I would suggest searching for new partners, and if the person returns, that's great! But if not, you're not stuck waiting for them forever.
This happens sometimes! I've had several RPs just kind of pitter off, even to people who are active now, and it doesn't really bother me. Sure I miss it sometimes, but when the time of an RP is up, it's just up! The best thing to do is move on and start new, even greater stories :)
I've had this happen two or three times now, and I'm so sorry to hear that this has happened to you. It's easily one of the worst feelings I've had to deal with, just being cut off and not knowing when to expect a person to come back, if ever.

It takes a while to get over it, at least in my experience. If not for the partner, than for the characters, or vice versa.

That being said, you gotta keep on going! It took me about two or three years, but now I'm really happy with some of the people I've met on this site, and other places! A few friendships have stayed, a few have gone, but friends and partners leaving means that there's just room for another! It might take a while, but finding someone else is often exactly what we need, even if we don't think so or expect it to happen.

If they come back, great! If not, just know that there are always more partners who would be more than happy to talk and grow with you. :)

Hopefully this makes sense, I get a little rambly sometimes lol. Either way, good luck and I'm sorry this happened hun. </3

Exactly! That’s also what I’ve been trying to do.
I guess I would’ve just liked a heads up on forehand. ^^

You’re completely right; I wouldn’t have needed an exact date or anything for when they possibly could return, but it would just have been nice to know.

Aw, that’s great! :D

It does make great sense, and thank you ^_^

I miss them a lot.

Would it be acceptable, if I messaged them again to hear how they’re doing? I wrote to them last time about a month ago and I still haven’t gotten a reply since november last year.

I think another check-in during this period of time wouldn't hurt! I'm not sure if anything has changed for them regarding their notifications/email settings though, so they might not have read the previous messages you sent either. Still, a month between messages sounds reasonable enough to me personally.

Thank you! I just wasn’t sure if it seemed okay, as I really don’t mean to annoy them or make them feel like I just spam them with messages

They still haven’t replied :( I miss them and the roleplay a lot, I feel like I’m about to give up hope that they will ever return to this website
Yeah dude, that sucks. It happens every now and then, sadly. :(
Hey, I may be just a random weirdo, but..... I'm sorry to hear that.... I'd be glad to be friends, you know....
