Ann made a few calculation in her head, trying to figure out how she'd make that kind of money. She was on a scholarship and there was no way she would be able to take a job. She could tutor, and at $15 an hour at least three nights a week, two hours at a time. She could make it in a few weeks, but it would cut into her own time.

She touched the tip of her nose while she thought, "I think I might have to mull this over."

He offered her a small smile. "I'll do one for you for fifty." He said, writing some things down. "Do you want it to be a portrait?" he asked softly.

Her eyes studied his face. Was this too little for what he was offering? Was he just being nice because she kept complimenting her, or something else?

She gave a little shake of her head. She couldn't think like that. She reached over and took his hand lightly, in a friendly gesture, "I'd like that. Thank you. I promise you that if I could afford more, I would gladly pay."

"You can always allow me to take you on a date, miss." He rubbed the back of her hand with his thumb, almost an affectionate gesture. "Are you free tomorrow night?" He tried to be as charming and charismatic as possible, really wanting her to go with him.

Ann was a mostly sheltered girl so she saw nothing wrong in the situation. Even if she knew of his history, she would still likely go. She tried to keep from grinning openly, "I am free tomorrow night. When would you like to go? And where?"

"Maybe to a movie or out to dinner? Both, perhaps? I'm going to say around seven." he smiled and wrote down the address of his apartment. "Here, Apartment C3, fifth floor. I could pick you up as well if you want." he smiled and also remembered to write down his phone number. The poor napkin he used was covered in ink.

"Oh, dinner and a movie would be lovely. What should I wear? I've never been on a date here." She had a nervous energy to her, sweet endearing as she took his napkin and carefully folded it to put it in her purse, "I think I'll meet you."

"Anything, dear. Casual." He smiled at her, asking for th napkin back so she could write down the name and street the restuarant was on. "I always wear dress shirts, so don't be surprised if you see me in one. I just like them. Pft, Artist." He laughed, eating his meal once it was delievered to him.
