Hye sat down in a chair he'd pulled up next to the bed.

She smiled at him tiredly. "Hey. She's healthy."

"Good." Hye smiled. "I'm glad. I'd hate to be the one who hurt her."

"No, she's perfectly fine." Kiera beamed, stroking the baby's head.

"So... mind if I try and probably fail to explain why I've been calling her 'alien'?" Hye asked sheepishly.

"Sure, Hye." She nodded. Kiera kissed the girl's head. "Do you want to hold her?"

He nodded happily.

She held out the baby gingerly. "Here."

Hye took the baby just as gingerly. "Hi..."

She squirmed slightly, whimpering. Ayla made a smacking with her mouth.

"Is this okay? Is she comfortable?"

"Yeah, she's fine. I think she's tired. And maybe hungry." She shrugged.

"Oh, then I guess you should take her back."

She took her and moved her hospital gown to the side. "Shh, it's okay. You can eat."

Hye watched her curiously.

She looked at him. "Why are you gonna call the baby alien?"

"Oh, yeah." Hye shifted. "I don't mean to be mean, in any way. It's just kinda... a reference to how I feel, I guess? Like, I've never felt this way about anyone before, it's an alien feeling. Also, I can't believe anything this adorable came from me, so alien kinda means that too? That might not make sense..."

"No, I guess I understand." She murmured, looking down at Ayla. After a few minutes, the baby was done and Kiera burped her quietly. After she was done, she held out Ayla to Hye.
