"Is it still bad?" Hye asked her, taking the baby gently.

"No, it makes sense now." She shook her head. Ayla fell asleep, curling up in his arms.

"Okay." Hye smiled down at the baby. "Cute alien..."

Kiera smiled softly, turning onto her side. "So, you like me now?"

"Not that I ever didn't like you..." Hye replied.

"I thought you really didn't."

"Well, after years of being hurt by someone who was supposed to love us, I guess one of us had to get the 'rejection out of fear' trait." Hye replied.

"Your parents. You haven't ever talked about it."

He nodded. "It's hard. We're all scared; We don't know what will happen if we open up. I guess the others are just better at relaxing than I am."

"You all know that I'm not going to leave, right?" She whispered, reaching her hand to his arm. "I promise, I'm not going to. I'll be here forever."

"It wasn't the leaving. Leaving was the best part." Hye replied quietly.

"I mean, whatever happens with you. No matter what you say, I won't leave."

He nodded. "I still don't know that I'm quite ready to talk about that part. But I can say that I am more comfortable with you now."

"Okay. And I want you to know that Kyu's only mentioned your parents once. They'd take away the food? I guess." She shrugged.

Hye nodded. "And that's not even the worst part, although that's pretty bad."

"You don't have to tell me right now." She shook her head.

He nodded. "I just wanna enjoy this time."

"Okay. I do want to talk to some of the others though. You know?"

He nodded. "Take the baby back? Safety first."

"Of course." She took Ayla, but leaned over and kissed him.
