You mean all kinds of excape games? They can be really good in virtual reality games.
I menant thé réal escape games, where you are locked in a room. 
I actually did my very first escape room last weekend!
The room I did was 'intermediate level', 60 minute timer, and of Haunted House theme.
It was great fun!
- The room was a little dark and misty! We had three torches to share between us.
- A really fun puzzle was an ouija board. When you moved the little arrow around LED lights would light up when you passed over a correct letter to spell a code.
- We had to gather five objects and the riddle said we had to put them at the point of the stars. We had about 3 minutes left, and all the puzzles have been leading up to this point. But we have no idea where this 'star' is! We're going crazy when suddenly my friend pulls up the rug and there's a giant pentagram drawn on the floor!
- We put all the objects on the right points and we think it's going to be the end but theeeeen ... a secret door in the fireplace opens up and there's a WHOLE NEW ROOM.
- Time runs out and we all leave defeated but the receptionist tells us to go back in because we were on the last puzzle anyways.
So in total it probably took us about 63mins
It was really well crafted and put together. Some of the puzzles - I have no idea how they were being activated or the mechanics behind them.
And my friends are now all hooked. We want to try them all

One of my past acquaintances used to work as a receptionist there. They had 3 different rooms - Laboratory X, Secret Society Vault and Maniac's Lair.
I haven't played them, but she shared experiences of players that took part in those.
