"Whatever," Alexis said, to Wolfe's comment about calling her Alex. "I'd think it's for the best that you refrain from getting her all riled up, too. If what you're saying is true, then keeping her calm should be our top priority for now..."

She didn't mind that Wolfe was going to eat the food, what she did mind was the incessant vibration from her phone during all of this. She finally picked it up but before she could answer she was greeted with a very agitated Zuzu.

"What the hell are you guys doing in there," he said.

"In where?" Alexis asked, looking over at Erasai who had just left the bedroom.

"You think I don't know? It's my phone. I got it under GPS so I know where you are."

"Zuzu. I'm sorry but plans have changed," Alexis said, looking out the window. Maybe he was watching them from another building. Instead what she saw were four police cars with their lights on, parked at the front of the hotel's valet area.

"No shit plans have changed. The fuzz is here and I sure as hell hope they aren't after you right now. You need to get out of there now. If Wolfe's with you... bring him along too I guess. Anyways, I'll be waiting for you at the back parking lot. Once we lose the heat we can restart our search for-" Alexis hung up, chewing on her thumb nail in thought.

She didn't know why the police was parked outside and hoped it was just a coincidence. It then dawned on her that she might have set this off herself, thinking back when the attendant in the lobby asked her if everything was alright. It's Wolfe, she thought as she heard the elevator ascending to their level, they must have figured something was wrong with him suddenly joining them in the presidential suite. "We have company."

Erasai perked a brow, and Wolfe looked to Alexis with a curious glance as well. He was the first to make his way over to the window, and peered out.

"Shit, you have got to be kidding me... Maybe they aren't here for us..." Even though he said it, it was obvious that he didn't believe it. "Maybe someone called the cops on you guys, for last night. That little fight that went down?"

"What are you talking about?" Erasai asked, looking out the window now, as well. She held her breath for a long moment, but surprisingly, didn't blame either of them for the sight of the cops down below. She was quite content with believing that neither of them would turn her in for the moment, and knew this was something else. But it wasn't good either way.

"Well, we obviously can't get arrested... They'll know my ID is fake. And then..." She looked around the room, wondering if there was a fire escape. There had to be one, seeing as the elevator would be down in times of emergency.

"Look for another exit," Wolfe said, before Erasai could speak. He began looking out each window, seeing if one might be a fire escape.

Erasai looked to Alexis then. "What do you think is happening? Do you think it is just coincidence, that the police are here?"

"I'm not sure," Alexis said to Erasai, "But I'm guessing the people at the front lobby might have suspected something when Wolfe came with me..." Wolfe's suggestion to look for a fire escape was a good idea. And with the sound of the approaching elevator, they had little time to actually look. Alexis joined in the search, going through all the rooms before finding that there actually wasn't one in the room. It wasn't until she looked for a second time out the large glass window that she noticed the guardrail hiding just out of sight about a floor below.

"It's outside!" she said, turning to grab a stool at the kitchen's bar. With one hard swing, the entire window shattered into millions of shards, causing wind and freezing rain to fly in. "C'mon, they're almost here!" Alexis said, motioning them to jump down. The fire escape was quite narrow and one would actually have to hug the wall to avoid jumping over the rail into a 20+ story free fall. Alexis hopped down first just as the ding of the elevator was heard and six police men came in, guns drawn, shouting for them, particularly Wolfe, to surrender.

"You could have just opened the latch, you know," Wolfe said, joining her at the window. He shoved Erasai out as well, hearing the shouting, and not wanting to wait longer to be shot at. He gripped the window, slid out, and followed behind them, just as the first gunshot was fired. "Damn, they don't wait long, do they?"

Erasai jumped a little at the gunshot, and slipped, almost sliding underneath the guardrail. Wolfe grabbed her by the back of her shirt though, pulling her up straight. "Jump down the moment you can," Wolfe shouted ahead to Alexis, and he then heard the shouting. He turned, just in time to hear another gunshot and a sharp pain in his shoulder. Erasai yelled out in pain as well.

He didn't really comprehend what happened after that, with how quickly everything moved. There was a bright flash in front of him, a whizzing sound going past his head as what looked like balls of light flew by... and then a shouting as the fire escape started collapsing behind them. The police who had been on the rail, fell down below, and after he regained he thought, he looked ahead, seeing the wings on the girl once again.

"Shit, calm down... before someone sees us! You idiot girl!" He was holding his shoulder, trying to press forward. But hesitated when he saw the blood stain on Erasai's upper back.

Wind whipped at her face as she tried to get a clear vision of what was going on. Everyone, including the police had come down the fire escape and Alexis took Wolfe's command and went down ahead of them, stopping at the third to the top level to wait for the others to catch up. She looked up at the sound of gunshots and strained steel just in time to see the top most level of the fire escape collapse and two police men fell with the other two hanging on for dear life and the other two trying to help the others get back to solid ground.

Erasai was using her powers again. Those glowing balls of light that flew about had nearly hit her and the collapsing upper level caused the lower ones to strain under the sudden added weight. "Erasai, stop!" she called out, "We're not going to make it down if you keep this up!" The bolts in the next level began to snap and the floor began to tip.

Erasai felt the shudder of the steel, and then looked to Alexis. She turned, grabbing Wolfe by his jacket, and then grabbing Alexis' wrist. After having a firm grip, and with the push of the tilting metal, she jumped outward, taking to the air briefly, before the strain on her wound became too much. She glided a ways toward the ground, before they fell, right on top of a truck. Her wings disappeared in wisps, and she did her best to push herself up off the crushed roof.

"Alright, then, let's go," she grunted, hopping off the car.

"Your back... is the bullet still in there?" Wolfe said, though he seemed distracted with looking around them.

"I think so... but it will push out as I heal."

Wolfe hopped down as well, feeling the added pain of being dropped onto his shot shoulder. He looked around the vehicles... finally finding a car with an unlocked door. "Give me a few seconds, and I'll try to wire this thing to work."

She was in the air and she yelped as her feet dangled helplessly some 20 stories from the ground and she could do nothing but hold on tightly to Erasai as they glided to the ground some distance away from the hotel. The fell and Alexis landed hard on her feet on the asphalt as the others hit the truck. Her body was rattled from the impact of hitting the ground but she was still able to stand.

Thankfully, everyone was okay. Erasai, especially, and Alexis rushed to her side while Wolfe searched through the cars.

"That won't be necessary," she said to Wolfe when he found a car. Just as she said that she heard the screech of tires as a car stopped, just inches away from colliding with Alexis. The passenger door flew open, revealing Zuzu at the driver seat.

"I don't know what the fuck I just witnessed," he said and pointed at Erasai, "But I'm guessing this is her. Nice haircut, by the way. Get in, the coppers are on us."

"Oh, shit! Are you serious?! We didn't notice..." Wolfe said, standing up straight and rolling his eyes when Zuzu spoke.

Erasai looked from them to the man in the car. She recognized him as the one that had been in the woods that one night. Then she glared. "Well, looks like we have no choice..." Even though they did, she really didn't want to wait on Wolfe to hot wire a car. Who knew how long that might take, and how fast the cops might get there.

"No you don't have a choice," Zuzu said, looking back down the street where he came from. Police cars were approaching fast and it didn't take long for Alexis to realize that Zuzu was in a police car himself.

"Zuzu... why are you-?" she was about to ask but stopped when she saw a police officer tied up by his arms and legs, laying supposedly unconscious in the back seat.

"No time. The car has guns. Just get the fuck in already!" Zuzu said, dropping a handgun on the passenger seat. Alexis couldn't believe what was going on now but took the gun and sat down. Zuzu popped the locks on the backseat for the rest to climb in.

"Let's keep the cop. We're in deep trouble anyways. Might as well keep a hostage," Alexis said. She checked the pistol and turned off the safety.

"If you say so. Was thinkin' about dumpin' him right now but... where we need to go?"

Erasai looked to Alexis, and frowned. If things went bad... besides getting caught by the cops, she was going to bail. And that meant leaving Alexis and Wolfe behind if necessary. But for now, she slipped into the backseat, Wolfe following reluctantly.

"Go if you are going!" she said, trying to situate herself beside the policeman. She could hear the screeching of tires... and more than likely, another car might try and ram into them to stop them.

"Okay! Okay! Shit I'm going," Zuzu replied, slamming on the gas and taking off the way he came. "Man, this is some serious shit you guys got me into. Hey, Alex and you in the back. Keep 'em off my tail." Zuzu made a hard right, cutting onto a heavily congested road before opting to take the sidewalks with the siren on. It gave civilians enough time to jump out of the way but he still had to slow down to avoid hitting them.

The in-car holocam flickered to life as the words "incoming call: Chief of Security" scrolled across the screen. The face of an aged man appeared. The details on the Holocam revealed a noticeable scar, or imprint, of what looked like a bullet wound on the man's forehead. He had a thick mustache that stuck to his lip like a roll of licorice that was long enough for both ends to reach his chin and climb back up to meet his sideburns. To Alexis, all the man needed was white cowboy hat with a star on it to complete the image of a character she saw at in a really old movie.

"Well, this is interesting," the man said, looking the rest of them over, "We came to stop one supposedly armed suspect in a hotel room and we end up in a car chase with four runners holding one of my men custody." He stopped to eye the girl sitting in the back seat. "That girl of yours in the backseat... Mind telling me what all that was up there? What with the flying and sending two of my men to their death?"

Wolfe let out a loud groan as the holocam came to life. He eyed it as the man spoke, and then voiced his own words before Erasai could reply to the last question. "Just so you know, I didn't steal this car... or take this man hostage... This was all his doing," he said, pointing his finger at the side of Zuzu's head. "And I didn't have any weapons on me... Just so you know. Just a tranq." This was the truth, since he had left his arsenal in his SUV. "And it's none of your damned business as to why she flew, and killed some men. That is top secret military information."

Erasai threw her palm at her face. "You are an idiot!" she said, yelling at him. "That was always your problem... You and your big mouth!"

"My big mouth?! That is hardly the reason we are in this situation!"

"You haven't really helped it much, have you?"

They would both go silent when the man between them groaned, but failed to come back into consciousness. Erasai sighed, and poked Alexis.

"Turn him off, we really don't need him watching us this whole time. I'm sure they have a tracker on this car... but it is just creepy."

"Hey!" Zuzu yelled back, "Sorry for trying to save your asses, if you don't want that cop in the car then shoot him and get it over with!"

"No. Two officers are already dead, the police have every right to shoot at us right now. The hostage is the only reason why they haven't opened fire on us yet," Alexis said.

"Smart girl," the hologram said with a nod, "Have you done this before? You seem to be quite aware of the rules of engagement." Alexis didn't answer and looked back at Erasai when the girl poked her. She agreed. If anything, this man was going to be a nuisance in this situation. She fiddled with the wires, careful not to pull on too many. The hologram waited as she tried to figure out how to shut it off before Zuzu pulled out his revolver and shot at the projector's base panel. The image disappeared and Zuzu tossed the gun to the back seat.

"Woman, this is a stolen cop car, stop treating it like its your daddy's beamer," Zuzu said, shaking his head. The car lurched forward as the pursuing cars rammed them and he turned his attention back to the sidewalk ahead of him. "As I said, keep them off my tail or else we won't make it to where we're going! One of you take that gun already."

Alexis looked back at the other two and notice the officer stirring in the back. It was only a matter of time before he woke. She rolled down the window, her own pistol in hand and fired a few shots at the pursuers, causing them to back off.

"Sure, why not add attempted murder of a police officer to my list of warrants..." Wolfe said, with a sigh, as he took the gun and rolled down his own window. He aimed the gun, trying to hit the vital parts of the vehicles behind them. All he could think of, though, was, 'How the hell are we getting out of this one?'

Erasai went quiet, reaching behind her as everyone else seemed to be occupied. With a wince, and a quick tug at her back, she pulled out the bullet that had hit her in the shoulder, the rapid healing process already having begun to push it out.

Zuzu grinned at Wolfe and said, "I thought mercenaries didn't care for warrants." The police were forced to back off when fired upon and Zuzu turned into a less busy street, sighing in relief for at least being able to drive off the sidewalk. He turned again, cutting into lower level streets that eventually took them underneath the upper city of Haven. Blotted out from daylight, this undercity served more as a gigantic support structure than anything else, which was apparent by the looks of the boarding homes which were built into these large concrete columns that carried the weight of the city above them.

"Zuzu," Alexis said, looking around, "Where are we and why are we here?" There were several bonfires that aligned the street as the homeless took shelter from the rainy weather in the surface. Graffiti lined the walls and trash was everywhere.

"The original Haven," Zuzu said, "While we were looking for the angel last night, I stumbled in this area. Got a brief history lesson with one of the locals. But I didn't hear nothin too interesting. Something about where most of the manual labor folk live. They also hate cops." Just as he said that an egg splattered against the driver side window.

"But we need to go to the docks," she protested.

"Docks? Woman, within the next hour you'll have the whole region's police force after your ass. Ain't no way am I taking you guys above ground right now. Why the hell do we need to go there, anyways?" He stopped the car, taking a moment to look back at the other two then back at Alexis, "Am I missing something here? I thought we was going to take miss angel lady to them religious folks back in Mountain Metro."

"I really doubt we are going anywhere that we were originally planning," Erasai said, looking out the window. "So let's just go. Let's make sure we aren't caught, so that means... move this car." She also wanted to add, 'And then the next change I get, I'm dropping you off a cliff.'

Wolfe smirked and smacked the back of Zuzu's seat. "You heard the lady... Get this carriage moving!" He laughed, starting to really feel the rush. This is really what he liked, the thrill of the chase. Well, not so much when he was the target, but it was still fun.

"'ey! 'ey, man, show your savior a little respect, alright?" Zuzu said. Another egg smacked against the driver side window, prompting the man to roll down his window and fire a few shots in the air. "You little shits! I'mma kill ya'll!" He set the car on drive again and drove deeper into the old Haven. "We need to find a safe spot to wait out the search. More likely than not, though, the cops will be coming down here after they've scoured everything above ground. The good thing is not a lot of the locals here are going to be very cooperative. The bad thing is... the locals aren't cooperative."

"So you want us to hide here?" Alexis asked, not too happy with the idea.

"Just until things calm down a bit. Sure you got your street gangs... crime lords, yadda yadda but its a lot better than being up there. Right?" Alexis wasn't sure about that. At lest citizens up there were more civilized. Zuzu stopped the car in an alleyway. "Best dump the car, though," he said.

"We cant just stay down here and wait them out," Alexis said, turning to Erasai and Wolfe, "It's dangerous here. Surely both of you agree. Who knows what could happen to us."

"If you stay down here, no one will report you to the police without at least charging them money for the info. Up there, the cops own the land. They got surveillance cams, air control, electronic control. Down here is unknown territory for them. I say we stay."

Erasai rubbed her back, as she stepped out of the car. What would be the best course of action? Sure down here might be safer... at least from the police. But were they safer from the citizens? One thing was for sure though. She wasn't about to wait anything out.

"Mercs will pay any price for information about their targets. They track the communications frequencies, so more than likely, we have some after us already. And they will be making their way down here soon."

The best thing to do, would be to keep moving. At least after a little bit, that would be the best way to go. Maybe there was a way out of the city through the underbelly... One that wasn't quite as well known. And she voiced this. "Maybe we can leave town from down here. I'm sure there are ways to get out. Maybe we should ask around."

"I like her idea better," Alexis nodded at Zuzu who didn't seem too pleased with it.

"Yeah, we can search. But how long will that take us?"

"Not too long if we ask the right people. I'll pay for it if they need to so don't worry," Alexis said, running her finger over the card in the breast pocket of her jacket. She followed them out of the car. "Good idea," she whispered to Erasai, "I didn't want to end up dead in some basement by the end of the day."

Erasai couldn't help but smile. She felt better, when Alexis agreed with her. Wolfe let out a sigh though, as if he didn't agree.

"This place will sell cheap guns and ammo. At least, I hope that's the case. Let me stock up, before we actually start heading out. I'll be back in a bit." He turned, and left the group, and Erasai turned from him to Alexis.

"At least he looks like he would fit in down here. He shouldn't have any problems."
