The sun bared down on the bone dry sands of the wastelands, few choose to wonder out of their small towns or hiding spaces to face what dangers surround them at every corner. Few survive the radiation, the mutated beasts and people all scurrying in the sands under the blaring sun.
A young woman ventured out on her own, a jacket tightly clasped onto her body regardless of the scorching heat. She much preferred to travel at night, it was harder too see whats coming after you but in the same way harder for something to see you and decide to come after you.
She panted, stopping for a break under the shade of a scorched rock, the heat blaring off of it was almost too unbearable.

Madison strode around the rock outcropping wiping blood from her hands with a green greasy rag. The heat of the rock felt good against her skin, and she smiled while she felt the tension release from her body. Gutting that pig felt good, and hearing him die gave her a satisfied feeling that she rarely felt. Gracious as she was she thanked him for it as the darkness took him, and knowing how considerate she could be lifted her spirits.
Looking down at her tight gray jeans that hugged her tight muscular body she nodded approvingly that none of that pig's blood had soiled her pants or black boots. Her skin tight gray muscle shirt was equally unsoiled, but she found a few drops on her utility harness. Cocking her head she decided to leave those drops there as a reminder of something. What? She did not know, she was having difficulty concentrating again. She pushed her long black hair, done up in a tight braided pony tail, to the front. She hated feeling it tap against her back as she walked.
Wiping the remaining blood and sweat from her muscular arms, fully sleeved in tattoos from her shoulders to her wrists, Madison tossed the rag aside and continued around the outcropping.
A scraping sound from around the rock locked her fleeting concentration into razor sharp focus, and her pistol was in her hand before she realized it. Should she just kill the noise maker? If she should kill seemed to be the first question in her mind most of the time.
Creeping around the rock she swung around with her pistol aimed directly at a young girl with brown hair wearing a heavy jacket who appeared to be resting against the rock.
"Oh," Madison said in a soft sing song voice, "I didn't expect to find you here." The ferocious look in her eyes was at odds with the carefree gentleness of her voice giving off very mixed signals as to her disposition.

Elise was obviously startled by the sudden appearance of another person, having a pistol in her face didn't help. The woman was rather tall, her dark hair bundled up in a pony tail. Her sing song voice put Elise on edge, she stayed quiet. The woman's green eyes seemingly seared her own dark ones.
She narrowed her eyes at the other, and didn't dare reach for her weapon in her coat. She knew that it would be a death sentence. Elise's eyes flickered away from the woman, she looked over at possible escape routes. She pondered for a moment if she could even run from a bullet. Probably not. Her fleeing skills were much more dependable than her skills with a gun, however. She looked back at the woman and gripped the sandy earth below her, her knuckles turning white from how tight the grip was.

"Oh don't worry," Madison cooed, "I won't kill you unless you try to kill me first." That was not always true Madison realized of herself, but it was true at this moment; what could be more important than the moment? Holstering her pistol she looked the girl over. 'She's kinda cute' Madison thought; her sexuality not discriminating to women or men.
"You look like you've been out here kinda a while," her overly friendly tone continued unabated. Madison leaned back against the hot out crop of rocks and smiled sweetly with her finger tips in the pockets of her tight jeans. "My name is Madison," she stated sweetly, "what's your name?"

She watched the pistol, narrowing her eyes at the woman before she holstered it. She still looked to the side of her for an escape route, she looked back at the woman. Somehow she didn't believe her statement to be true, lots of people kill for the hell of it. That's part of life here.
The woman's relaxed body language was completely opposite from Elise's tensed one. The woman asked for her name and she almost didn't want to give it to her, "Elise." She responded curtly.

"Well hi Elise," Madison smiled as if to an old friend. "You look a little ill at ease, but you don't have to be." She set her pack down and rummaged through looking for something specific. Finding it she tossed a small flask on the rocky ground near Elise's feet. "Here, have a drink. That's what I do when I feel tense."
Madison searched around until she found a small recess in the rocky out cropping than scavenged up some dry wood and began building a little fire. "We have a few hours to till dark, but this looks like a good site in which to camp." She glanced over at Elise her lips all smiles yet her eyes dark and brooding. "You look like you haven't eatin' in quite some time. I have rations if you would like to stay."
Madison through a few packs of dehydrated food on the ground as the fire began to crackle. "What are you doing out here?"

The food was extremely temping, she forgot the last time she had a meal was. She looked at the woman, at the food, at the drink and slowly sat back down. What was she thinking? This was dangerous. The food could be poisoned, though she seriously doubted someone would carry poisoned food just to poison unsuspecting travelers. The woman asked what she was doing there, she responded in her usual short fashion, "Resting."
She took the food into her hand and she could feel her stomach rumble. She slowly opened the package and took a small bite. It wasn't bad. She took a bigger bite and her eyes once again flickered up to the woman.

Madison turned a cocked head to Elise. “Resting?” she mused. Reaching she took the flask that from the ground taking a long pull from it, the raucous liquid burning as it went down her throat.
Smiling as the hard liquor warmed her insides Madison turned back towards Elise. “So why would you come out here to rest?”
