I remember when I was a kid, my dad took me outside one night to see a comet in the sky. It was a pretty amazing thing to see 
Now I need to check to see which comet it was, maybe someone took photos.
EDIT: I think it was Swift–Tuttle. Here's hoping we get some clear skies to see the one you posted about
