hey hey. so lately i've had this vague plot idea kind of sitting in the back of my brain and i know a few things about it:
-i don't want it to be a roleplay, i want it to be my own story
-i want to make completely new characters for it.

before i started roleplaying i mostly just wrote independently, and roleplaying has always been easier for me because i can plot and plan with another person, and because i'm writing with another person i tend to stay pretty motivated to actually write. when i'm writing alone, i mostly just think myself into a headache trying to figure out my own plot and make characters that don't feel flat.

i guess i'm just wondering if there's any independent writers on here, and if there are, how do you come up with inspiration for plots and characters? i'm very bad with just spontaneously coming up with characters or plot details and it leads to me feeling discouraged. talking with other people usually helps me, but i can't help but feel like i'm being annoying most of the time. i also worry about whether or not an idea will Work. just thinking about all of this is making me feel very overwhelmed and not want to start this story so i really just have no idea what to do rip.

I also write my own stories and when I am stuck with ideas I usually go to pinterest or tumblr and search some prompts, or even various generators aren't bad. Sometimes interesting things come up or inspire me, you get some nice bits and pieces of ideas and from there it's kinda easy to plot on your own. Also I get a lot of ideas from the actual roleplays here, I just adjust them or reading books in general is good.

I feel you, really. I also procrastinate actually writing my own stuff because I always feel like it's not gonna be good enough. And don't worry, you are certainly not annoying.

Currently I'm writing a book myself and have been idle on Chpater 5 for a while now ;~;

My inspiration comes from all kinds of things, music I listen to, books I read, and I've / TV shows / Movies etc I watch....literally just walking around.....really comes from all over...

Actually, the book I mentioned above? I thought of it the second I stepped onto my college campus for the first time...I wondered what it might be like for a character who has magic and the like and all sorts of things came into my mind over the four years I spent there before graduating...even after graduation, things still came / come into my mind!!
I even decided to use the main character [Lara, if you'd like to check her out] as a rp character, sometimes it helps me move the plot or play with ideas for my story
