Thought I'd make a place to share general tips about how to approach riddle solving! If you've got any observations feel free to share, and please correct me if I'm wrong or could phrase something better. I'm happy to be PM'd at any time but may take a while to respond.
Please keep all discussion on solving specific riddles to their own threads, this is for general info.

RIDDLE SOLVING TIPS
- This is designed to be a team effort, so any ideas for answers should be shared!
- As we solve the riddles, more riddles will be unlocked.
- There are two types of riddles to solve - Trivia and Puzzle. The challenge type will be stated on the symbol's page.
Trivia riddles focus on franchises (eg. games, books) or studies (eg. science, history, literature) while the answers to the puzzle riddles will be related to RPR or the event itself in some form, usually with a focus on the videos and comics released during Epic Week.
- The symbols for each of the riddles have always been relevant in some way to the answer. If it's a triforce for example, it will almost certainly be Zelda related.
- The answer might be a word, a phrase, or even something more cryptic like a string of numbers or a url.
Check out last year's riddle discussion thread to get a feel for the kind of answers the riddles might have - NOTE: A lot of this doesn't apply any more.
- Some of the answers to the puzzle riddles will involve cracking the secret code. See Heimdall's code discussion thread if you'd like to help out with that.
- The messages in bottles may contain extra hints for riddles! You can find them while fishing. Please share what you find in the bottle thread so our riddlers can browse them! You'll know it's a clue because it will say for example "Puzzle10:" before it!
- The riddle guardians and the images chosen for them are randomly picked this year (confirmed by Kim), so try not to factor them into the answer.
- This is not a one size fits all, but from my past experience this is the pattern for trivia riddles:
- The first clue hints at a a wide subject like a franchise, or an area of science.
- The second clue hones in on a specific topic within that franchise/subject.
- The third clue tends to be very specific or abstract but will relate to the second clue very closely.
- If you're approaching a stranger on the site who might fit the criteria to unlock a clue, please try not to overwhelm them with info or pester for a response, especially if they're a newbie.
This is a great roundup! Thanks for doing this!
I just want to reiterate for clarity, because I know this has tripped up some new players:
Riddles marked with the Challenge Type "Puzzle" do not require any trivia from outside of the RPR, so don't worry about guessing what series it might be from. The puzzles are built with things that can be found on the RPR, with a heavy focus on the current batch of comics and videos.
Happy hunting, all!

@Ben - Glad to help!
@Kim - Righto, will set that in stone in the OP! I was just cautious about stating these things as fact myself.

Update:
It seems that some of the messages in bottles may be clues relating to the riddles!
We're literally fishing for clues, I love it.

Not sure where to post these to help people that might need clues if these quotes gave clues in them!

Someone's handily made a thread for that here. I'll add this to the OP too.
Some can be really tricky!
thank you for sharing the post rat
Hm. All but one symbol on the blue ship is "glowing" with a lighter blue outline. On the red ship, so far only one one has it.
Not sure if potential clue or just an oops.
