This topic is for discussing clues and potential answers to the vulture symbol in Epic Week 2018. Please stay on topic. Remember, these riddles are designed to be challenging and require a group of people noodling together; don't feel intimidated if you don't know the answer right away. Every little idea can help.
Aw snap, we got some Westworld goin on here!

Ooh, I think you might have it!
Just need that third clue!
So... this is PROBABLY not it considering the nature of the game (and me being highly, HIGHLY sceptical that anything related to it would be chosen for Epic Week), but with the two clues currently, it's the only thing I can think for a couple reasons.... And... I might as well put it out there in case my scepticism is wrong.

Doki Doki Literature Club.

Monika is a self-aware character in the game who desperately wants to be with the player (yes, you as the actual person behind the screen), even if it means corrupting the game to give it to her. However, no matter how much she corrupts the game, she is never an option for the player to actually choose -- she is changing the narrative to try and get something that is always out of her reach.

The game also makes the player question the reality of the game once the weird stuff starts happening, not to mention that Monika's song at the end of the game is called 'My Reality', which is a song that expresses her desire to have the reality where she can be with YOU. It makes it clear that every time she messed with the game coding, she was effectively messing with the reality of the game in hopes to change it to her favour.

But... that's just... the only thing I can personally think of and am contributing.
Umm.. we need one more clueeeee!!!
Quote:
You pull the cork out of the Message in a Bottle and gently fish the paper out of it. Unrolling it, you see that it reads:

Use your smokey numbers to count out the nearby letters

Now you have an empty bottle, too!

Seems like a thing for a puzzle, since this is one of the only ones still not solved
Can this help?

Bleep bloop, someone said this has already been used so.... Hello?

I really have no idea what this may be about, but just an aside, I'd question the particular wording in the second clue.

Have you ever questioned the nature of your reality?

*Nature* seems to be an important word here (maybe)? It seems poignant given the whole flower description.

@Reima - That one was for puzzle10 which is solved now. :D
@pltjess - The art chosen for the riddle guardians isn't usually linked to the riddle itself, or when it is, it's to my knowledge coincidental. They're mostly past winning entries to the genre jumble contest. Still, it's always worth paying close attention to the choice of words in the clues!
I tried crossing over it like this
Seems like the quote overthrows that
Just idea-dumping here, not got anything coherent...

Vultures are carrion birds - they pick clean the carcasses of things already dead and eat the bones, too. They're scavengers.

Category is Sci-fi.... So what sci-fi narratives feature scavengers heavily? So heavily as to be key to the story or even that universe's reality? And what sci-fi scavengers have questioned (or wanted to change) that reality?

Are there any protagonists/antagonists that fit that role?

Westworld is a sci-fi show with a Western setting; you often see vultures and condors featured in dusty old desert towns. I think that may have been why it was mentioned above.

(Then again, vultures also scavenge on dead things, and, well, Doki Doki isn't hurting for those.)
Yeah, I really think this one is Westworld related (at least for the moment). The narrative thing and the quote are both major themes of the show, plus the vultures.

I already tried many of the show character names, to no avail. I'm hoping that third clue will clear things up!

Could just as easily compare Monika to a vulture, seeing as she tends to wait till after terrible things happen to swoop in and try to snatch you away from the others. :p Though, she would be the reverse of a vulture in that regard, though it IS still an insult to call someone a vulture when you see that person swoop in and try to woo someone who just got out of a relationship.

It's a stretch, but it's something I'm willing to defend. :p
As a side note regarding DDLC, it's hidden lore and content game puts FNAF's hidden lore and content game to shame. It's a beautiful thing. :)

:P
While I feel that westworld is the likeliest candidate, I'd like to posit the idea of firefly, specifically with regard to River. Think about the clues in that aspect.
Wouldn't hurt to try any of the possibilities!

This is 100% Westworld! The second clue is a direct quote.

Looks like we need the third clue for the word we actually need though.
I'm guessing westworld was tried in the answer box, right?

Do we need all 3 clues to try to make a guess, or no?
We can make guesses while missing clued, and I think it's even worked out once or twice. Having all the clues is super helpful though, and it could always be the missing one that proves most important.

Short of grabbing a non-participant and convincing them to fish 10 times though, I'm not sure how to tell who would be worth contacting to get the last clue.
