I sighed. This girl was delirious. She was talking to a dog for god sake .
“Come on , we need to treat that leg and I’m sure the surgeon around here costs too much “ I reached out my hand .
“Take it or leave it “

"If I go.. can I take my dog..?" Mae asked and she drifted her eyes up to the kings. Her eyes were warm and gentle as if she was a mother. "And.. Papa.. Will need to know..." She winced and her eyes claimed shut as she felt her dog lick her wound for some comfort, but it only brought more pain. "Cherry.. that's enough." Mae ordered and the dog obeyed and whimpered.

I pinched my nose and looked down at the ground thinking.
Should I just leave her ?
She has a father
No I can’t leave her she’ll die
And that dog looks infested with every kind off parasite
But her eyes look at me imploring my help
I took a deep inhale of breathe
“Can you dog ride with you , on your lap ? “

She nodded with a kind smile and she heard a gruff voice in the crowd that surrounded them. "Why are you helping that slut, my king?" Her eyes dulled at the insult and she turned her head so she wounds face anyone. "Yeah! She's the poorest person on this village and her mother was killed because she had an affair with a high duke! A hitch like that doesn't deserve to be helped." The words pierced her heart like an ice pick, causing her body o stiffen. "Never mind.. their right, a peasant doesn't need Help from a king.." the words reminded her of what she was and who she is. She wasn't a whore, she was a virgin and didn't have a lover. She wasn't like her mother at all.. but she still had decency and she was a peasant. He as a king. There was a long distant between them.

“Sir? “

“If I ask for you opinion I will say ‘dirty insolvent peasant do you have an opinion on this girl ‘ but I did not now did I ? “
The man who spoke up first looked panicked and looked to his fellow peasants for support.
I marched up to him.
“WELL DID I ? “ I ordered in his face .
“N...no sir “ he looked terrified.
“It’s no your majesty to me “ I scoffed and turned swiftly .
All the townsfolk stood frozen in fear at my outburst.
I got back on my horse .
“If any of you measly folk challenge me on my decisions again , I formally promise they will meet with my mother “ I chuckled darkly
Knowing my mother was resound for her torture methods . I held out my hand to help you up .
And turned to the head guard .
“Ride on “ I shouted as I pulled you and your mutt into my steed .

A lister dropped the reigns of his horse and whispered something in its ear and the horse nodded its head. And looked at Alister with worry. “Might I suggest I bring the dog along with me and ride close by so she can comfort It lord?” Alister makes a counter offer that would free up room on the horse. ‘She is something else...I wonder if I can...no not here not while the king is around.’ Alister thought and he took a couple of steps toward the dog and knelt down offering his hand to let the dog sniff it. “Hello there. You want a treat?” Alister asks looking into the dogs eyes.((ok sorry ignore this. Please just ignore this. or at least a portion of it.))

I looksed at the girl .
“Give him your dog , he will treat it fair “
She hands the dog to you
“Careful with it sir “ I say with as little distaste as possible
“Carry on “

As he pulled Mae and Cherry up, her eyes widened. The back of the horse was soft as it's hairs rubs against her exposed shins. Cherry sat on Mae's lap and licked her cheek affectionately. Mae smiled a bit and hugged her dog, the one who always stayed by her side. She turned her head to the crowd and each one of them gave her a dirty glare of hate and she whimpered so softly only few could hear. "Thanks.." She mumbled to the king, her eyes narrowing. Why did he help her after all the things they said about her? She watched as the dog left her to be with the guard and she looked at the guard and said, "my dog doesn't like a lot of food. She likes horse though. No offense to the horses "

“It’s fine “I said slowly
“What’s your name peasant? “
I couldn’t figure out why I just helped this girl what what I thinking?
I can’t believe I just let a peasant touch my horse !
Oh the gods she touched my hand
I looked at it , it didn’t look too dirty , it’s fine it just needs a wash is all .

"Mae Winchester, your majesty." She said politely and she refrained from wrapping her arms around him from falling off. The horse was quite bumpy when it walked so she had to grip onto its fur so she wouldn't fall off.

I sighed at the girl bumping about on the back of my horse .
“Have you never rode a horse with a gentleman before “ I looked at her hands slyly.
I’ll just have a bath when I get home then
“But you arms around my waist so you don’t fall off “ I said while rolling my eyes

"I've fodder bareback in the fields.. with the forest horses of course but no with anyone." She sighed and she slowly wrapped her arms around him and winced at how uncomfortable she was

“We’ll be there soon “
I feel so uncomfortable
Her arms wrapped awkwardly around my waist
I sighed again at what an idiot I was .
“Head guard! “ i signalled for him to come nearer . “ trot ahead and get my personal doctor to treat her immediately “

Mae saw her father on the side of the roads with a worried expression of shock and fear. "HEY PAPA!" Mae laughed and waved at her father and he gave her a warm smile, worry still in his eyes. "DONT WORRY PAPA! IM OKAY!"

“Woah calm down you’ll frighten the horse ! “ I scolded .
“Wow you sure know how to draw a crowd “
I rolled my eyes and scoffed at the clueless girl .
How has she lived this long I thought as we entered the castle gates .

Mae tried not to send a glare at the king and kept her face clam. Trained horses don't get scared by yelling, did he forget these animals were just in a crazy parade?! As she saw the castle, she gasped at its beauty. She loved in question small hut with no beds of furniture and she slept on the floor with a thin sheet of animal hide. "Amazing..."

“Haha never see this up close huh ? “
I snorted at the girls amazement.
We clipped into the courtyard and I vaulted off my horse .
