Laurel made her way to the park at a leisurely pace to a place she knew well. She adjusted the wide-black strap on her shoulder as she glanced around the park. For the most part it was empty, though she saw a couple of joggers and a woman trying to corral two toddlers on the playground. Laurel smile to her self at the sight and went back to her leisurely walk to the fountain. Several minutes later she reached her destination and settled her self on to a park bench that was only a few feet from a massive stone water sculpture.
Setting her bag on the ground next to the bench Laurel dug out a pen and paper. She stared at the blank paper tapping her pen. Unfortunately the words did not come flowing from the pen as she willed them to. With a frustrated groan Laura put the pen and paper down on the bench next to herself. She took a water bottle from her bag and poured some of it out into her left hand, however instead of falling through her fingers it formed into a tight ball. Laurel began tossing the ball of water back and forth between her hands as she stared at the blank paper.

Celeste had yet another fight with her "mother",and took her bag that contained journal sketchpad pencil case, water bottle keys, wallet and cell phone. She left the apartment slamming door behind her, still hearing shouting behind her.
Celeste Fairchild or better "Charlie as her aunts called her was usually kind person though very distant and appeared cold to strangers. Charlie went to the park and watched people pass by and children in playground. She saw a woman bout her age sitting on bench playing with ball made of water. Charlie stared for a minute but then went past to the spot by the lake where she usually sat,and sat under a tree by lake. She took out her pencil and sketchpad and began to doodle

Laurel watched the water in her hands as she tossed it back-and-forth. She was supposed to be writing a piece about a must see places in Nelson, Canada. The word refused to come. Laurel was feeling relaxed though, the sound of running water from the fountain was helping. The thought crossed her mind that she needed to call her mother and aunt, but Laurel knew she had to write the article first.
Feeling eyes on her Laurel glanced up in time to notice a young woman making it be line for a tree near the lake. Laurel watched her settle herself down and took something from a bag. "Don't do it Laurel don't be nosy," Laurel mumbled to herself. Her mind made up Laurel funneled the water back into the bottle and packed away her things.
With a slight breath Laurel shouldered her bag and approach the young woman. Upon getting closer Laurel realized she had gotten out a drawing pad and a pencil. Without trying to be on or off putting Laurel offered a smile, "Hello."

Charlie was doodling her latest dream of dark forest and cabin a a woman getting killed and her child taken from her dead body. She had that dream a lot so she decided to draw this out for once. The cool breeze swayed Charlie's hair and she tucked it behind her ear and continued drawing.
She was not aware of woman approaching her as she was too focused on her drawing and trying to recall smallest detail as.
Hello"from stranger is what shook her awareness to reality and Charlie looked up to see a woman looking down at her smiling slightly. Charlie said nothing just was puzzled.

Laurel's smile remained in place is the young woman looked up from her drawing pad. After a quick once over long noticed her dark hair that ended in red and brown eyes. Laurel did not like to rush to assume someone's age. Even as someone who was almost thirty Laurel knew her face reflected a much younger age.
Brushing her bangs back Laurel look down at the drawing pad and the other girls lap. She crossed her arms and took a step to the side to better see the illustration that was being created. Laurel felt her brows are chap, impressed by the work so far. Laurel had never been able to draw, but always had respect and appreciation for those that could. She brushed more hair from her eyes and looked to the young woman, " this is really impressive," Laurel studied the drawing, "it always amazes me to see people who can do that."
Laurel smiled mostly to herself and looked up to the girl, "About the best I can muster are smiling faces and some deformed flowers. My name is Laurel by the way."

Charlie noticed the woman who was observing her and her drawing. The woman seemed interested and oddly enough not uncomfortable. Most people who spied on Charlie and saw her drawings were uncomfortable. This woman was fascinated and it made Charlie little self-conscious.
Uhm... I drew out my recurring dream. I tend to draw stuff that's it different than normal sometimes. People see it lie and say it looks nice, but their voices are not deceiving as their words. They say they like it but their voice shows discomfort and deceit. Yours does not." Charlie said Looking at the woman. Her name was Laurel. Charlie was not comfortable with people approaching her. So she felt uneasy with this woman's interest in her.

Laurel looked back to the drawing as the young woman explain the inspiration behind it. She uncrossed her arms and put her hands in her pockets. The picture took on a slightly different meaning to hear that it was inspired by a recurring dream. She looked at the girl with a faint smile. Laurel felt complemented by the fact that the girl had told her, she did not detect deceit. "Thanks I appreciate that. I'm a what you see is what you get sort of person, of course that comes with a side of brutal honesty. That has been known to get me in trouble a time or two." Laurel held two fingers far apart before returning her hand to her pocket.
"Nice to meet you Charlie." She could have been imagining it, but Laurel felt Charlie's curiosity. Of course if she was feeling that way it would be completely reasonable, she had after all been approached by a total stranger.
Laurel shifted her weight side to side a bit, "Sorry if I've come off as a bit of a crazy person. That's not what I intended. You just looked like something might be off so I thought I'd make sure everything was alright..."

Charlie had the faint smile. Laurel seemed ok weird but ok. Charlie herself was honest, she did not know how to lie very well so she just said the truth even if people did not like it, so hearing Laurel saying the same was a bit of relief. She knew she saw her earlier playing with a ball made of water, but she did not want to ask that as she may not have seen what she thought.
I do not think you are crazy as I had crazy people approach me. You are outgoing and that is ok. I am not as social as you are and when I go out I go places regular people wouldn't." Charlie said as she closed her notebook and put it in her bag. Hearing Laurel thinks there may be something wrong Charlie looked down.
There is stuff going on but even though you gave me your name you are still stranger in a way so pardon if I will not share my life story." Charlie said with a hint of sadness and distance in her voice

Laurel felt that Charlie seem to relax stay at least a little and almost smiled. She knew she could be a lot sometimes especially when meeting someone for the first time. Laurel laughed a little, "Good to know a fellow stranger doesn't think I'm crazy." She also nodded in understanding when Charlie mentioned going places that most did not. It was a concept that Laurel could understand all too well.
It did not go unnoticed by Laurel when Charlie dropped your head, looking down. It did not seem far off that something was going on. "Absolutely I understand. I name exchange does not a friend make."
It was still itching at Laurel though especially when she had a certain note in Charlie's voice. "Like I said, I just wanted to make sure you weren't in danger or anything like that. Even if I am a stranger to you."

Charlie relaxed and took a deep breathe she decided to go the diner and get some lunch she did kind of run off without it.
Thank you. I will be fine. I gotta go eat something since I am hungry. I guess I will see you around. if not I appreciate the kindness." Charlie replied smiling slightly as her hair blew in the soft breeze.
Charlie stood up and dusted her jeans off. She wore blue jeans with dockers white t-shirt and light blue coat that was perfect for the warm day. She wondered what kind of places Laurel went to but decided not to pry. once she made sure she had everything she waved to Laurel as she went towards other entrance as it was closest to the diner

Laurel watched and nodded as Charlie collected herself. "Yeah sure no problem, as long as you're sure everything is alright." Charlie said her good bye and headed across the park toward the exit. Laurel watched her go again finding to voices at war with her. One fussing at her to get the article done while the other said to after the girl.
"About to be the park's official crazy lady," Laurel muttered to herself.
She jogged after Charlie, "Hey Charlie hold up a moment, any chance you want some company for lunch? You'd be helping me out by avoiding some work."

Celeste was out of the gateway and about to cross the street when she heard a voice. She turned around to see Laurel trying to catch up to her. She wondered if she left something behind but when Laurel asked if she could join her for lunch Charlie thought for a moment. Laurel was nice and Charlie wondered what kind of work she did that she wanted to avoid.
I guess it will be ok. though if you get fired due to procrastinating or ditching work, it will be on your conscience, so do not blame me after."Charlie said looking sternly at Laurel. She did not want to be responsible for this woman if she lost her job.
I am going to the dinner for lunch they always have amazing chicken burgers and wings."if you are not worried about your figure then your welcome to join me."Charlies said looking at Laurel. She was skinny but well built young woman

Laurel smiled when Charlie said that she didn't want to be held responsible for her missing out on her job. She laughed a little, "Well to be perfectly honest I don't think they would fire me. The money I help bring into the website is something they aren't going to walk away from over one delayed article. Laurel readjusted her backpack, "That's sweet of you though."
She not it is Charlie shared her lunch plans. "That they do, I'm a big fan of their fries. I tried to stop by a few times when I'm in town."
She waved off Charlie's comments about figure, "I'm not, that's what a work out is for."

Charlie smiled at Laurel she seemed kind, but not pushy. It must be interesting to be a writer. charlie wrote in her journal on daily basis but to he writing was more a hobby she wanted to be a digital designer when she graduated. she applied to a different college specifically for her degree and to get away from those she lived with.
Charlie entered her dinner and the waitress greeted her kindly.
Hey, Charlie here for lunch? And I see you brought a new friend. She is with you or it is coincidence.?" the waitress asked curiously. Charlie came to this place often to eat so almost everyone at diner knew her by now.
Uh, this is Laurel she is joining me today." Charlies said and waitress nodded
Ok, kiddo comes I got your favorite booth ready." she went ahead and Charlie followed. The waitress was kind to her despite Charlies occasional distant and strange demeanor

Laurel returned Charlie's smile and walked with her to the diner. Once they were inside they were greeted by a friendly waitress. Judging from the interaction Charlie came here a fair number of times. When the waitress looked in Laurel's direction, Laurel offered a wave and a friendly smile the latter being reciprocated.
Laurel followed after them and once they reached the booth sat down across from Charlie. She smiled again at the waitress and took the menu. After glancing at the menu she closed it and looked across the table to Charlie, "So I mentioned before I'm a writer. Mostly travel pieces for magazines, newspapers, and a couple travel websites. What about you? I'm guessing you're in college?"

Charlie chuckled when Laurel said if she was in college. She was senior in high school and could not wait to graduate next month so that she could get away from those people she called family.
No, I am senior I graduate next month though. I want to go to College in California for graphic design. I wanna move as far from this place as possible, rather from people I live with." Charlie said not Looking up from the menu though. the waitress approached
You guys ready to order?" she smiled at Charlie.
I am. I will have my usual with my favorite drink." Charlie said looking at waitress with half smile. For Charlie benefit was that she can eat anything and still look skinny and tiny. However, Charlies also worked out. She had a local gym membership

Nodding with a faint smile Laurel understood at least she thought she did. Looking back to when she was in high school those last couple of months seemed to last longer than the three and a half years leading up to it. "Ah California, it's a beautiful place to be. I've gone to several places there. They also have some great schools." Laurel tested her chin in her hand, watching Charlie.
Again she felt a twinge of something when Charlie mentioned she wanted to get away from people. Laurel had notffelt much different at Charlie's age, but that nagging feeling said that this was different. Laurel was fortunate enough to have a great relationship with her mother and aunts.
Those thoughts were brushed aside when the waitress came back and took Charlie's order. "Cheeseburger with extra fries for me," Laurel offered the menu back, "thanks."
Once the waitress had left Laurel looked back to Charlie. "So graphic design, I would imagine you have to be pretty good with technology then right?"

I am good at technology but There is always room to learn more, especially when it comes to having a dream job." Charlie said looking at Laurel. she was interested and Laurel had been to California so maybe Charlie could ask her what is like being there.
did you reside near the ocean while you stayed or was it the different area?" Charlie figured maybe Laurel can be a good guide since she been there for writing. It must be nice to Travel all the time. Charlie wanted to travel and be anywhere but here.
the waitress shortly arrived with their order and set it aside for Charlie. It was a chicken burger with fries and hot chocolate with cinnamon. It was a peculiar thing for Charlie to drink hot drink on a warm day, though she never cared what people thought of her. She took a bite of her burger

"Very true," Laurel agreed to Charlie's initial comment, "technology is one of those things that's always changing." Charlie then asked about the living experiences she had while in California.
"Well let's see I've been there a few different times for work. About three times those visits were to different wineries that aren't on the coast. This last time around I did get to go to Santa Monica, which is right on the coast. Laura glanced out the window then back to Charlie, I also have an aunt that owns a club in LA, but obviously that something that you wouldn't be allowed to visit just yet." well let's see I've been there a few different times for work. Laurel started to respond about the joys of traveling when their food arrived. She nodded her head and thanks to the waitress and pulled her plate toward her self. Laurel cut her burger and half and took a bite. "Hot chocolate? That's an interesting drink choice. I mean with the weather being what it is."
She took another bite of her burger and noticed a toddler playing with a full cup of water dangerously close to the edge of the counter. Just as she was going to say something the toddler knocked the cup over the side of the counter. Laurel reached out her hand even though they were several feet from the counter. She made a "come hither" motion with her hand and the water changed path from falling to flying into a tidy ball in her hand.
"Sorry just a second." Laurel got up from the booth and walked to the mesmerized toddler and her stunned mother. Laurel took the offered empty cup and poured the water back in. She tapped the little girl on the nose with a smile, "You're suppose to drink the water little bit not play with it." The young girl giggled and smiled. After a quick thanks from the mother Laurel returned to her seat.
"Sorry about that? I try not to make a scene like that in public." Laurel scratched the back of her neck glancing hesitantly at Charlie.

Charlie listened carefully as Laurel told about her travels and her job. It was very fun to travel. Charlie always wanted to leave in fact she could but she wanted to save up just bit more, before leaving. She kinda scoffed when laurel mentioned a club. Charlie was no fan of Loud places anyway.
I don't like clubs I been to few despite my age, they give me a migraine and I prefer solidarity anyway." Charlie pointed out. She had feeling Laurel would point out the drink but she loved hot chocolate she didn't care if it was hot or cold hot chocolate was her go-to drink to feel better especially after her so-called family annoyed her too much.
I like hot chocolate, regardless the weather it makes me feel calm and tastes amazing." Charlie pointed out but not in a defensive way, it was like I do what I want when I want kind of attitude. She was little surprised Laurel showed her powers in public, and she put it together that Laurel was the one with abilities at the park. Charlie had her own ability one her so-called family had no knowledge of.
I thought I was only one with abilities that are not typical"charlie somehwat muttered.
