The feminine person stood outside a coffee shop, cup in hand. It was nice and sunny, just the way Fial liked it. The elf looked a lot like a girl; a smooth, perfect face, long locks of hair, a slim, asthetic body. The clothing, however, hinted towards something a little less effeminate. A man's white button-up long-sleeved collared shirt with the cuffs folded back, fitting black pants that revealed the very subtle curves of the hips, and black men's dress shoes. His skin seemed so pale and delicate that one would wonder if he should be outside in the sunlight without a parasol.

Effeminate, but a man. Fial sipped his coffee cup as he watched people walking past him on the sidewalk. People-watching was something he truly liked to do, but he'd go to extreme costs not to be caught staring. His bright rgeen eyes flickered around to catch each person who passed, and soon he moved to take a seat on one of the small round tables outside of the cafe` where he could sit and drink his mocha in peace.

Not far from the cafe, in the alley, there was shuffling sounds echoing into the street. A figure was moving about in the shadows, moving things around as if looking for something. The figure moved into the light, revealing a female, who seemed to not care if anyone was looking at her oddly as she continued making noise.

She looked almost normal, with long black hair, and being dressed in a purple shirt and blue jeans. The only thing different about her, was her black cat-like ears, tail, and violet cat-like eyes. She seemed annoyed and somewhat distracted by the thing she was looking for. She began cursing to herself, some of what was audible.

"Where are you? You know I hate playing your silly games..."

Fial heard the noises easily, his elongated ears twitching slightly. He stood up and crept over hesitantly out of curiousity, reluctant to go into the alley. Who knows what gross mucky stuff could be in there?!

But when he spotted the neko, he stared. His cheeks turned pink. She was so cute! Like an adorable little kitten. He walked over and crouched down beside her. "What are you looking for?" He was so hesitant and shy, and he spoke so quietly, that the neko might think him a girl!

Riiko's tail twitched when she heard the voice, sitting up on her knees and looking to the person. "Ah, I lost my friend. He likes to run off on occasion and make me waste my day by looking for him. You haven't seen him, have you? He's small, black... well, a cat," she said, sticking her tongue out playfully. Her tail waved behind her as she spoke, unable to help but think this stranger was such a pretty girl.

"Haha, I'm Riiko. Pleasure to meet you," she said, holding her hand out to him. It seemed that meeting a new person had made her day a little better.

Fial listened intently. "I-I'll help you!" He blushed a little and took her hand, shaking it gingerly. Even his grip was feminine. He listened for a few moments, his ears flicking back and forth. "I think I hear him."

He started walking, then froze as he realized how rude he'd been! "O-oh! My name...my name is Fial. I'm sorry...It's a pleasure to meet you too." He started walking again, glancing back nervously on the occasion to make sure she was following. He'd lead her to where he heard the sounds that made him think it was a cat.

Riiko smiled warmly when she was told the name, and followed closely behind. Her ears were perked, listening intently for any sound as well. And then she heard the very familiar sounding meow. She looked up, seeing a small black cat sitting on a window sill of a set of apartments.

"Ah! There you are! That's not funny, you know. I had to miss lunch because of you." Riiko put her hands on her hips and glared at the cat. It gave another little meow before jumping down in front of her. She knelt down beside him, and scratched him behind the ears.

"This is Jinx, my faithful, yet troublesome companion," she said to Fial, and Jinx meowed toward him, as if saying hello.

Fial smiled. "Aww, he's so cute." He knelt down by them and watched the kitten and neko. "You two are adorable!" He blushed when he realized his words. With as shy and sweet as he was, it was so easy for people to think of him as girl. Though Riiko might notice his slightly masculine clothes. Or maybe not, since he was kneeling so much.

"Hello Jinx."

Jinx purred loudly, rubbing himself against Fial's leg. Riiko smiled at the two, saying, "He says hello." She then spoke to Jinx, "This is Fial. She helped me find you, so I think you should apologize for your behavior." Riiko probably would have second guessed the gender if she had been paying attention to the clothing, but she hardly noticed such details. She only went by what she heard from Fial, and his general appearance.

But Jinx seemed to be able to tell this person was male... looking at Riiko with a tilted head, as if questioning her eye sight. To him, it was obvious.

Fial pet Jinx gingerly, smiling shyly. When Riiko said 'she' though, he blushed. He didn't have the courage to correct her. He didn't mean to be so girly, it was just how he was. "It's okay, he doesn't have to apologize. He's so cute." He smiled a little and continued to pet the kitten.

"I'm glad I could help you find him. You two seem like really good friends, it would have been a shame if you'd have been seperated for a while.."

Riiko smiled, saying, "We are, even though we like to pester each other." She laughed a bit, before standing up straight, looking at her new aquaintance. "So do you live here? I haven't seen you around before. Of course, I'm only visiting this city, for about another week or two."

The reason she had come here, was to find someone who new a bit about magic, but she had been having trouble doing so. It seemed that no one in this town knew how to use it; or, if they did, didn't want to bother with her.

Her ears twitched a bit as she thought, before rememebering that Zial was an elf. Most elves knew of magic. "H-Hey, you wouldn't happen to be able to use magic, would you?" She knew it was a random question, but she had to know.

Fial nodded slightly in understanding and when Riiko stood up he did as well. "O-oh, I actually just moved here for a little while.." he said nervously. He fidgeted as he stood there but his fidgeting stopped when he heard the question.

"O-oh! Yes, I do. Why do you ask, Riiko?" It was a random question indeed, but he didn't mind her asking it. It was nothing that he was hiding.

"Ah! You do?" she asked, showing a lot of excitement at the answer. "I've been looking for someone who could use it for quite some time. I need someone to -- well -- teach me how to use it." She grabbed Fial's hand in both of her and looked at him in a cute, pleading way. Her tail swished behind her, amplifying her excitement.

"Would you please, please, please take me on as a sort of apprentice? I would be forever in your debt."

There was no way Fial could resist that! It was too cute for him, she was just so adorable! "If you'd really want me to, I'd be happy to help!" The pleading wasn't needed, all Riiko had to do was look at him like that and she could get him to do whatever she wanted. Fial was a lover of adorable things, and Riiko was on the top of that list.

"You're so cute!" Fial blushed as he spoke, but it was just too true! "Of course I'll help you. But...uhm, where are you staying? So I'll know where to find you.."

"You're amazing, Zial!" she said when he said yes. She had finally found someone to help her, so her time here wasn't wasted at all.

Riiko looked to Fial for a moment, when he spoke that she was cute. A small, happy sound escaped from her mouth and she smiled. "You are too," she said, and Jinx let out a sort of 'pfft' sound as he strolled down the sidewalk.

"I'm staying there," she said, pointing to a closed down building not far from them. "I enjoy watching people from the top floor. It makes the day a little less boring when I have nothing else to do. And there is no one there to disturb me from my naps. Jinx doesn't care for it, but since we don't stay in one place for long, I don't bother finding anything other than abandoned things."

Fial blushed brightly when he was called cute. "T-thank you..." When he discovered where she was staying, he frowned. "What? In there? But...isn't it dirty?" He didn't mind natural dirt, like in a forest or something. But city, town or building dirt? Yuck!

"No no no, that's really bad! It's dangerous, there could be bad men who go there, or maybe gangs!" Fial looked geniunely worried about her. "Maybe...well...Oh, but it's not..." He fidgeted. "Would you like to stay with me, Riiko? I have plenty of room in the apartment I'm staying at..."

"Ah, you're sweet," she said, taking his hand again and smiling. "I couldn't do that though. It's really not a big deal up there. I have sensative hearing, so if there were anyone up there, I would be able to hide without a problem. And Jinx is good about keeping a look out at night."

She took a step back and looked to Fial. "Now, don't worry about me. I just want to plan out tomorrow. We should meet somewhere where there aren't a lot of people, and probably early enough so we can practice all day." She couldn't help but feel overly excited about this.

Fial pouted. "I can't in good conscious let a lady stay in an abandoned, yucky building." Now it was his turn to take her hand and give the puppydog eyes. "Please stay with me, Riiko? It'd be nice to have a friend instead of being all alone..."

Was it immoral to have a random stranger of the opposite sex staying in someone's apartment? Well, probably. But this is Fial we're talking about. He wouldn't hurt a fly, and flirting is out of his capabilities due to how shy he is.

"Uhm...somewhere that there's not a lot of people? Well what about the forest? There's a nice patch of woods outside of town, I know a clearing inside that would be perfect for training you."

It was so hard for Riiko to resist the look he was giving her. "Ah --- alright," she said, laughing a little. She supposed it wouldn't hurt. If Fial insisted, she would do as asked. Jinx seemed pleased as well, giving a quick meow.

"As for the clearing... That sounds like the perfect place," she said, nodding her head. "I'm still a beginner with magic, so it's best if we want to keep damage to a minimum."

Fial sighed in relief. "I'm so glad." He nodded in understanding to her 'danger to a minimum' comment. "Of course. O-oh, but...Uhm, if you are going to stay with me, I think...well, I-I should uhm...I should clear something up."

He blushed a bit. "I'm a man."

Quickly, he rushed to fix what his sentence might make her feel. "B-but I won't hurt you! There's two rooms in my apartment so it's okay, and you can even lock your door if it makes you feel better."

Riiko seemed confused now as she looked at Fial. And slowly, it seemed she realized that he was telling the truth. Soon, a bright blush appeared on her cheeks in embarrassment.

"Ah! I'm so sorry, I called you a she! I didn't know!" she said, not believing that she hadn't noticed. "Not that you don't look like a male... I mean --" She didn't know how to fix that kind of mistake.
