Hey guys. I'm Jula. I used to do all kinds of RP with my close friends, but after a hard falling out, it's been a looooong time since I've maintained an online RP. I now do LARP and tabletop, but I miss online roleplaying. I found my roots in the Neopets forums about 18 years ago, but I need some serious help learning how to maintain an RP past a certain point. I'm also an old person nowadays. I work full time and school Part-time.

So there we go, that sums me up. Hello everybody!
Heya Jula! Hope you are liking RPR so far :) if you have any questions this is a great community of nerds who are friendly, welcoming and eager to help a friend in need. Sorry to hear about your falling out, one does hope things got better after a while, if not, you're here now and new friends can help! :D As far as mantining an RP goes, sometimes it can be tricky at first but it can also come pretty intuitively. Just as all RP does. If you would like to talk about it in depth feel free to shoot me a PM, I'd be happy to have a chat. As it is, I hope you find lots of great games, fantastic friends and as always, happy gaming! <3
Hi! Welcome and very glad you're making steps away to continue RPing! I stopped LARP years ago due to a major fall-out with people. I know it can hurt. I'm also very happy to chat in PMs if I can help. :)

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your warm welcome. :) I've already found an RP to join, and it's so easy! This site makes it soooo convenient. As Annie once said, "I think I'm going to like it here."

Welcome to the site! What point is normally the failing point for you? :) How long do your RPs typically get to before sputtering out?

Only about a month or two. Generally it's because I'm tasked with being the antagonist and then kinda stop knowing what to do with my counter after a certain point - pretty much, "Ahahaha, kidnapping successful! ............ Now what?"

I think it has to do with being a villain so finding a way to GM the other character around so much but then I take ALL the control from the other person, and then I don't have anything else planned after a certain point, so now the other person CAN'T contribute, and I'm just sitting there scratching my head.
Hello~ Welcome to RPR. I find that OOC communication is what can keep an RP going long term. Talk about a scene, see how it goes. Check back in and see what you both want to do next. In my experience rushing things kills it dead. Taking time to let the story unfold is what makes forum RP so much fun.

Glad you have found RP already. I've met some wonderful writers here. I hope you do too.

That makes sense to me. There's only so far that a RP based on a direct confrontation can go; at some point, someone either has to win or lose. I might suggest, in this case, skipping the RP forward 5 years to explore new themes or circumstances, or throwing in a plot twist that forces that characters to change roles; either a direct reversal, where the good guy goes bad to get revenge, or where the pair are forced to work together for some reason.

Both of those are really good ideas. ^^ Thanks so much!
