I've got a one female character so far...a kind of innocent, sheltered, rural, girl-next-door (Jess), but I'm going to create more.
Here's a sample prompt, please PM me if interested.
A long-haired woman, her hair black, highlighted with blue streaks and a necklace of beads approaches you as you sit at the back of the bus on your way to work. You are sprawled out, legs stretched over several seats, listening to music with headphones. You watch her approach you. You expect her to veer right or left, to sit in one of the many empty seats, but she doesn't stop, she is walking right to you for some reason.
Standing in front of you, she stops.
"Um... hi. May I help you?" You ask, taking one of your earbuds out.
She ignores your question and places her her hand on top of yours.
"I know what you're thinking about doing today," she says, looking into your eyes. "Don't do it. You'll regret it."
What is the woman talking about? Who is she and why does she seem able to read your thoughts?

Magic is rare, but not unheard of. Mundane characters may or may not believe in it. Magical characters may form small and exclusive pockets for study, protection, etc.
Modern
Combat is expected as part of the storyline but it won't dominate the plot.
