"Dude, I swear on my life they're real."
Miles Hopper has been your best friend since as long as you could remember. You'd always know him as that one 'ufo hunter,' as you liked to jokingly call him, and every time, he had corrected you with 'extraterrestrial fanatic.' Miles happened to spend every waking moment cooped inside of his dimly lit room, decoding and deciphering apparent flying saucer sightings, finding and questioning people claiming that they had been probed by aliens, and even going as far as transferring sound waves from the ear-aching dubstep genre to see if any of it had a message stored for him. Most of the time his research struck to no avail, but once and a while he'd uncover something he thought was evidence, tape it up on his wall and begin on a new theory to hypothesize. Because of this routine, Miles lacked sleep and would pass out at random times in his studies, only to wake twenty minutes later and continue, stating that he was fine. Luckily, however, Miles had you. You regulated the amount of time he could spend away in his room, made him go outside once and a while (cause heaven knows if he gets any paler he'll blend in with his bedsheets), and even forced him to get up and grab a bite to eat, since he tended to forget. Miles admired that about you, and always remembered to thank you once and a while for looking out for him. Besides being his best friend since forever, Miles liked to call you his parter in crime. The two of you were basically inseparable - you always by his side, helping and encouraging his findings, and him willingly tagging along whenever you decided it was time to take a break from his room. Many of your friends suspected that you were roommates, or were even secretly dating at some point, but the two of you laughed it off by explaining how you would enter through Miles' window, which he always kept open for you, and that since you lived only two houses away and your parents were great friends with Miles', you spent every moment together. You two never focused too much on if you had feelings for each other, but simply knew that you were best friends until death do you part. You two had the same schedule, did all the same things together, and when one person got sick, the other would be at their house, tending to their needs and helping them feel better by cracking stupid jokes. Everything went exactly like that and seemed comfortable for the two of you. Neither of you would change it for anything.
Except, one morning, when you had crawled through Miles' window and announced your arrival with a smile, Miles wasn't at his computer, like he was every morning. Instead, he was standing near his alien bulletin board, pointing at one picture in the middle. The change from every day made you curious, and you walked behind the boy. Instinctively, Miles faced you with an eager grin. You let your eyes hover over to what he was pointing at, and on the picture seemed to be some kind of location, with red ink in Miles' handwriting reading "ALIENS." You looked back at Miles to ask what's up, but he was already speaking.
"I found it! I found the place. I know it this time, too! This could be more evidence, or the outbreak of something, or maybe even the key to all of the questions I've been helplessly asking to be answered!" He ecstatically rambled. He calmed down at your instructions and took his hand away from the board, afterwards reaching it out towards you with a tilt of his head.
"What I'm saying is.. wanna help me hunt down some aliens?"
Okay, so this is going to be a 1x1 sci-fi roleplay, but romance can be implemented along the way, too. I have no preference on MxM/MxF, so either are welcome. Length for responses doesn't matter as long as it's something more than one sentence. Anyone interested either PM me or comment below.

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Modern
A peaceful setting, but with a chance for small fights and struggles to break out on a very small scale.
Details: Freeform, adjustable length posts, long-term RP partner preferred.
