{The masked man didn't move an inch. For all she knew, this could just be a statue, and the voice was in her head."Yes." Was all he answered."I have foreseen much. But with each passing second, the future changes. Even now the outcome remains a mystery."

And then, finally he moved. He walked towards her like a normal man, though his robes swayed as if they were in the wind."Whether you accept me or not, I am here to ensure our foreseen future happens. I will be your guide. Your... guardian angel, if you will. We are bound." After that explanation he refused to speak once more. Instead he clutched his hands together, first to palm, with his head bowed down.}


Vealeana kept her eye narrowed as she tried to contemplate whatever she could have done in the future that was so important. Sure she may be an unusual vampire, but even so she was still just a vampire of no account. She wasn't any sort of high ranked coven member, nor an infamous loner. No she had been content to remain in the embrace of shadows, hidden away from prying eyes. In truth she was rather surprised that this man had actually found her. After all she never stayed in one place for very long.

Of course maybe there was no such important future. This could still be a trick of some sort, tho she wasn't quite sure who would want to trick her. It wasn't the sort of thing she believed that the paladins of that crusade would do, tho it wasn't impossible. While he didn't carry the scent of a vampire, that didn't completely rule out vampire involvement since he could be working for one. However once again, what vampire would have any reason for trying to trick her? She tended to avoid her kind and couldn't think of anyone who might arrange something like this for her. Well no matter, she wouldn't learn anything from standing her. Best to just play along for now and see what came of it, even so she did take a few feet back."

"You may follow me if you are so set on it, but I won't follow you. For all I know your goal may be to lead me into a trap. You live longer if you don't take anyone at face value after all.

She then picked up the body of the paladin she had bitten and used her claws to rip away the bite marks. Now they couldn't be sure as to what had killed these men. They could guess, but that was all they could do.

She then turned to her right and started to walk away, however the strange man never left her peripheral vision.

The Faceless Entity refused to reply to that. He was going to be the guide. There'd be no way he couldn't guide her on the right path from time to time. If he allowed her to do so, his foreseen future could change. It was not his job to let that happen.

As soon as the vampire started walking, The Faceless Entity followed. Instead of floating behind her, he walked. Each step he made with his wooden sandals made a crunchy sound. He still remained in the same pose, though; his first against the flat of his palm and his head bowed down."The men you just maimed will prove to your advantage. How, I can not see. But you will not be followed." Valeana probably knew this since she most likely did this often. Still this Entity found it necessary to assure her of this.

Valeana didn't respond to the strange man who was intent on following her, she had something else to do. She suddenly stopped moving and stood perfectly still, eyes closed. Her bat ears were flared as the swiveled in different directions, hunting for the slightest out of place sound. At first there was nothing... just the sound of cricket's chirping.... slightly rustling leaves..clip clop clip clop clip clop...the sound of a horse, no more then one, several. Horses meant humans so she concentrated both ears in the direction of the horses to learn more.....There! The sound of boots on dirt, by sound alone she could tell that there were more that she could handle and that was all the info that she needed.

Suddenly she sprang into into a tree and then took flight away from the approaching humans. Oh she could take flight from the ground, but when you add the use of a tree nearby, why not use it? Yet she still felt sad, the scouting group she had killed was nothing more then a drop of water in a bucket.

The Faceless Entity floated behind her, his hands now behind his back. It was good she fled. These soldiers would prove to be filler, nothing more but the postponing of the inevitable future."Wise decision. We had foreseen much aggressiveness. We did not expect such wisdom."

There were a lot more on the horizon, the masked apparition knew. And he also knew that pointing this woman to her fate would prove counterproductive. All he could do was hope she would soon realize what the root of all these crusaders was, so she would know where to end it. The man spoke no more, not until she'd come to a full stop.

Valeana listened and acknowledged what he had said with a flick of her ears, but didn't say anything. Talking could wait until she felt that she had put enough space between her and the current threat. She flew until she had put about two miles from where she had killed the scouting party. Two miles in a forest was worth ten in an open environment like a field.

She then landed on the forest floor and leaned on an very old fir tree. "I hate these paladins and men in general, but I am not going to throw my life away like a child blinded by hatred, tho I suppose I can't exactly call what I am as being alive I suppose. Best to stay alive and continue to secure small victories then die in a Pyrrhic one. Of course I am likely just prolonging the inevitable. As long as that blasted holds so much power over them, they will have no shortage of recruits. The only real way to truly shake their faith would be to cut away the heart of the faith which would be the pope. Yet nothing short of a very large coven could even contemplate such a course of action and then actually doing it is another thing altogether."

She then thrust her hand backward to punch the tree and then dug her claws into it out of irritation.

Bingo. Her hatred lead her straight to her target. Though when this angry, she might make some mistakes due to not thinking clearly."Everything comes to an end." The Faceless Entity spoke suddenly.

"Even the Order's days are numbered. We too are postponing the inevitable. Extending your time on this world is not necessarily a bad thing." The masked man stood back on the floor."You speak of covens being needed for this action, yet they do not have a guide. We have chosen you, Valeana. Not a coven." His voice was as monotone as ever, though it sounded sincere as well in a strange way.

(*headesk* I am actually having trouble trying to decide how she would react to this. Valeana hasn't been in such a situation before and it's being a bit tricky to decide who she would respond to it. Ever had that problem before and if you did, got any tips to help me make up my mind?)

Valeana looked back at him with an incredulous look and then came up with up with a scathing reply. "I don't know what your order is or what it is about, but I am nowhere near stupid enough to try something that suicidal. I wouldn't last a minute in there. Even if you were some fort of epic fighter, the two of us still wouldn't get anywhere close. Find some other pitiable fool of a vampire to sell this story to. You may have been able to come up with my name somehow, but there is no way you could have seen something as impossible as that."

With that she spread her wings and started fly northeast with every intention of leaving the strangely garbed man and his ridiculous stories behind. She wasn't going to let this man lead her to her death, she had sacrificed enough because of men already.

This took an unexpected turn of events. He had expected her to be in disbelief much earlier. Still, he couldn't lose her. He knelt down and lowered his head for the time being.

During her flight Valeana would still be able to hear his voice, but this time inside of her head."You cannot escape your destiny, Valeana, only postpone it." He spoke. But that was all he said. Perhaps she just needed a chance to cool down a bit.

Valeana was surprised to suddenly hear his voice and she swiveled her ears for a few seconds before she realized that she had heard it in her mind. This managed to disturb her a bit as her mind was her sanctuary. It had been the only thing that she had control of when she was a human and the only part of her that remained unaltered.

However she didn't let this slow her down her flight in the slighest. Instead she kept moving until she came to a very old fir tree several miles away. She landed in one of the middle branches and then tried to clear her mind of thoughts in order to calm herself.

It took a while for the Faceless Entity to track her down. He didn't expect her to fly so far away so quickly. She nearly severed the mental bond he had established.

The masked man would give Valeana some time to clear her mind and calm down. He didn't speak to her in her head anymore, as it would only cause her to doubt her sanity. Besides, he needed to do a little meditating before he could teleport to her.

Soon he was done, and appeared right next to her. His wooden sandals made a loud 'clack' noise as he landed. His giant glass eyes faced Valeana."We are bound, Valeana." He spoke after a short while."Bound until destiny tells us otherwise. We cannot escape our destiny. Only postpone it." He repeated.

(Is he in the tree with her or on the ground?)

Valeana managed to calm down, but it wouldn't last for long as he suddenly appeared next to her...which was probably a bad move for him as she immediately attempted to slash his throat out with her claws out of pure reflex. Really he should have known better to abruptly approach a being whose social activities consisted primarily of fighting and then killing.

Assuming she didn't kill him, she would then quickly slice the branch out from under them while simultaneously grasping the branch above them and then pulling herself up the second her claws made it through the branch. She hoped that gravity would cause him to fall crashing to the ground along with the branch as she really didn't appreciate being startled.

At this point, Valeana would most likely have no idea what this thing was. The Faceless Entity got hit, but it would feel as if she was hitting thin air. The branch being cut off made him fall, but he simply... floated down.

"You'll find me not to be so much in touch with the living world anymore, Valeana." He spoke as he looked up at her."It used to be different, but ... let's say I'm cursed and leave it at that. We are still bound. Bound until you fulfill the destiny We foresaw." There was no blood to be found flowing from his body. It even seemed as if he was unfazed by the hit.

[Exactly what happened to him when she struck? Was it like a ghost, or a wound, but no blood? I'm not quite sure exactly. What does it look like?]

[Like a ghost, though he did feel the hit]

[Oh, there was no wound. It would have felt like she cut through flesh, but there would be no wound visible.]

Valeana was visibly shocked by the fact that her attack even through it struck left no wound. On top of that was that fact that it didn't even feel like she had hit anything even tho she had.

She was normally not one to be struck dumb, but then turn of events had managed to accomplish that. After a few minutes passed, she managed to recover and speak.

"Ok let's say for one minute I believed this. What exactly would be keeping me from getting torn to pieces and then having my remains burned to ashes? I'm just one vampire, a bizarre one at that, but still just one. How could I accomplish when groups of others failed to do so?"

She then waited to see what kind of explanation he could give her.

"A sole person can accomplish more than an army can." The entity spoke."We are not fools. We know what we ask is difficult, yet it can be done. We see through lies. Your skills are adequate. All you truly need is guidance."

It was noteworthy that the Faceless Entity did not try to get back on face level with Valeana. He remained on the floor, staring upwards through that strange mask of his."There is little choice in this matter to begin with. But I promise you, you will not die because of this. You have my word as your guide, your... guardian if you will."
