"Why? It's nature. Some Pokemon are food, others aren't. Ever heard the saying that the early swellow gets the wurmple? It's not just a saying. I've watched it happen. Then the second swellow comes and they fight over it. In the end, one swellow either runs, is killed or badly injured. I've seen it go each way. Nature isn't so pristine and calm like you might think. I've almost been killed several times."
"I know. It's just...Pokemon raised me since I was little and my parents went missing. I don't think of them anything else than family and friends."
"Well, I wouldn't eat a Pokemon that was my friend, just pokemon that I don't know."
Shira sighed." I guess you wouldn't want to hang out with me being the way I am." She looked at the Pichu in front of her, who was looking up at her.
"Why should I care what you do and don't eat? As long as you don't stop me from eating, it'll be fine."
"You know, I expected you to have a trainer. I've never seen a wild Typhosion before." She looked at him.
"We exist," he shrugged, "We were just one of the unlucky species who got captured because we're rare and bred for you humans. That's how it is for all your starter Pokemon," he stretched then put his hands behind his head and leaned against the tree.
"So you were one of the lucky one?"
"No. My whole family was. Not every cyndaquil, quilava and typhlosion in the wild are captured and bred, ony enough to fulfill the needs of the people, and after a few generations, no more need to be caught. Only a few of my kind have been caught in the past few decades, according to my father, but our population is still low in the wild due to breeding difficulties."
"Where's your family?"
"Scattered," he shrugged indifferently, "Somewhere in the country you humans call Johto."
"Oh. I'm from there before I came here to start as a trainer."
He nodded thoughtfully, "How many countries have you been to?"
Shira blushed." This is my second region." She felt a little embarrassed.
"How long have you been a trainer?"
"Only about a month. That's when Shock hatched." She held the small pichu close.
"You've been a trainer for a month and you've already been through two regions?!"
"I meant in general. They consider me from two regions even though this is my first one." She frowned.
"Ooooh... Well, then that's fine. You looked embarassed there, and you have absolutely no reason to. You've been a trainer for a month and you looked disappointed that you've only been to one country.
She looked at the fire." I started later than most. Every time I went to go get a Pokemon, they wouldn't have any for me to start with."
