Something is wrong. The universe is in upheaval, and earth has become plagued by portals opening at random, releasing creatures and beasts, unlike anything the world has seen. At first, the cause of these anomalies was a mystery, but it was later discovered that they are the result of the coming of an entity known as "The Other." Leaving a tack of destroyed realms in its wake, The Other now has its sights set on earth, and its eventual arrival on earth is being aided by a known vampire terrorist, Bennett Lombard. To combat this The Foundry must assemble a team of paranormals and humans alike, and it's up to them to stop this monster.

Magic is very common. Magic-tech, grand floating islands, forests that sing, magical creatures may be an every-day occurrence.
Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
