I noticed that many people have characters that sometimes are not actively being rped.
Some make them anonymous so they do not show up on their page (me too).
Wouldn't it be nice if you could check a box, to mark a character active, and all other users can see (active) behind the name on the profile page, if the char is actively rped?
So people do not have to hide theire character if they lost the muse to rp them, and simply could "unmark" the (active) and thus letting others now that the character belongs to them but its not an active character?
The traffic-light idea is maybe even better

I like the traffic light approach!
Green = Active
Yellow = Available on Request
Red = Inactive (Dead, NPC's, 'Unable to brain RP at this particular moment', or things like that.)

Maybe divide inactive characters into their own list below the active? One header saying Active, followed by a list of chars that are active. Then below that a header saying Inactive with a list of inactive chars.
That might be visually neater, especially with long character name.

Whatever is easier to code. I am fine if i can mark my chars
It could be a little sign before the char's name, too.
Maybe a small green lamp, or a red one ... (like a traffic light) ...
Oh, I do like the sound of this and, if it's possible to program without being a hassle, would totally use it. I've got a few characters I either don't RP for months at a time or are simply very elaborate NPCs, and it'd be nice to let folks know that at a quick glance.
I am glad that it seems many people like this (I asked around a bit), and CopperDragon you gave me another idea.
If it is just text behind a name, it would probably be easy to code ... and it could not just be "inactive" or "active" but maybe even "NPC" ... I saw many people have rpr-pages for npc chars.

I am totally behind the idea of a feature like this.
This sounds like a really fun idea, specially when you start getting those characters that go on 'hiatus' or even if you're doing ICly a loong vacation and you actually make sure your character isn't around.
I think this is a great idea.
Agreed, love the idea. I love the option of a yellow light that represents "Not currently involved in RP, but would love to do something with it!" so that people don't fear that just because you're not using it, you wouldn't want to rp with that character.
I get this all the time with my characters. I don't really consider them active if I'm not using them and I get tired of using them if they never get much attention, so usually I bounce around alts until one lands something to keep me to that alt and then it becomes my 'active current alt' lol.

Yep, this sounds like a winner.
Do you think we could also have something that would go onto the character's profile so we can tell if an Anonymous chracter is active as well as their owner? It can be difficult to tell if the owner of an anon is around or not.
I love the idea of marking characters inactive, active, and NPC! I'd totally love to see this implemented!
Ooh! I really, really love this idea.
love this idea
Yes please!
Wow, this idea is mega popular!
I am adding it to the official list of development tasks so it doesn't get forgotten.
Katia has a good point, that one of the things we'd need to figure out about it is how it gets worked into character profiles. Potentially that's something like a widget that people can add if they want, but not ideally.

Genius! I second this motion.
The traffic-light system could just show beside the username too on the profile itself, if people implement the widget.
