Images posted to the forums weren't really intended to be automatically resized. It's not so much a "bug" as that doing it properly would be a whole other feature that would need to be implemented, and I'd rather spend the time on more exciting things.
That said, I'm addressing it "improperly" with a quick patch that may help shrink runaway images in some browsers, but not IE.
