I'm curious and intrigued.
What character types would you allow here? I generally make characters per the rp.
Oh, and what is causing our characters to not be asleep? Unless I misunderstood.

Pretty much any chatacter that might exist in medieval/renaissance fantasy should work, so long as they can't automatically one-shot an ancient evil. Or at least not right out the gate. We might build to that over the course of the RP, though, so don't be discouraged.
While the reason is a mystery to them, I'm thinking it'll be some strong emotion/drive special to each character. Something that gets them out of bed in the morning and lights a fire in 'em, so to speak.
They won't be the only ones awake to be baffled by it, though.
I'd be interested! I'd probably use my forest spirit Demeter, who would probably be pretty determined to find answers when y'know, every single living thing in her woods falls asleep. I tend to write novella, although I can reduce my post size if that's what you prefer. c: thoughts?
Would you be against a unicorn character? I have been dying to play one! I'd likely keep to traditional lore about them (purification of water, counteract poisons, very swift of foot, maybe go so far as outright healing like The Last Unicorn). She likely wouldn't be killing anyone, if at all.
@nine: that sounds pretty great actually. Honestly, I love longer posts since it gives me a lot to work with; about how many paragraphs is novella? I'm not so familiar with it.
@question: I'm absolutely down for that!
Oh! I remember what else I was gonna add, nine. I love length but please be patient and understanding if not everything in the post gets responded to. At least from me. I'm experimenting with pacing and need-to-know with my character's posts. Mostly so I better keep in mind they won't always be able to react to everything.

oh! I tend to write about 7-8 paras, sometimes more depending on whether or not there's new things needing to be described! but for group threads like these, I tend to keep my posts a little more clean and cut. c:
and don't worry! it'd be ridiculous of me to expect someone to write out their characters' reactions to every little thing. xD I'm pretty patient when it comes to replies; the only time I ever poke people if it's been multiple weeks without any activity!

Hello, you three. If you still care to find people, I'd be interested in joining with this character. (And only this character. I prefer one.) She definitely has something driving her (if you care to read all of everything in her backstory, you'll see). Monsters and evil are her specialty. I'd be excited to flesh out a story (especially if it turns dark in places...) with you all. I write multiple paragraphs, usually six-ish long-ish ones, though the first few might turn out to be more.
You care to let me join?

Im interested of course This sounds like a ton of fun.
I’ve got a few guys Who would fit, from the spirit Adriano who doesn’t really need sleep, to a new guy named Adel who’s so tortured by Night Terrors and Hallucinations sleep really isn’t his thing. Adel tries to sleep but it usually ends up terrible, and I can’t imagine him being fond enough of such magic to just fall asleep without casting a charm on himself to prevent it, though his little secret may prove a hinderance to this. And of course my other OCs like our favorite spellcasting nerd Cedric or the ever present Iskra are open if you think someone else would be better.

@Borealis: Sure! I think we can work in an angle with the raiders from her backstory, even, since they seem to have gone North, too. Perhaps they worked for/with the big bad of this plot or maybe they're just taking advantage of the chaos?
@strawberry: Yeah! I'd love to see Cedric in on this. And as much as I'm raring to see Adel in action, I feel like Adriano or Iskra might fit the current group better. Just because so far I don't think any of the party could handle one of Adel's transformations... That said, if everyone else would like to explore that route, I'm down!

Hmmm... I'm interested now. At first, I'll admit, I wasn't, because it seemed like the RP had no real discernable plot. I can see little slivers of a plot going on, though. So now I'm interested in joining!
Would Varen be ok? He's basically a shadowmancer, though he's not evil. There are multiple reasons that I could put in as to why he didn't fall asleep: He has the drive, like you said; he is inoculated against sleep effects due to his upbringing; he has some special resistance, because he's a shadowmancer; or because the shadows he talks with kept him awake.
If you don't like this character, I got another one, Auren. He's a dhampir swordsman. He's not as well developed as Varen, though..

No issue! Cedric will be fun to use here; as for Adriano or Iskra, I’ll probably use Adriano
Edit: I think I’m actually just gonna stick with one character, I think Cedric should be able to cover it

The character is ready.
That's a great idea, actually, Forta-ver. Also, how many people are we planning on inviting in on this thing?
@Borealis: four players.
@Darkborn: unfortunately I hit that limit yesterday. I meant to close the LFRP and hadn't yet switched the title on the IC listing, either. Maybe we can RP together some other time.

where will be be posting again?
thank you much! I will post as soon as I get on my computer. give or talk 30 min
Alrighty! Now that I have access to a real keyboard and not the lousy phone one, I will get on my second post. But before I do, I have some questions for you all in terms of pacing and plot points.
1st: would you guys like some posts of travel time as your characters follow the bird, and possibly meet one another along the way? Or would you rather we cut ahead to them reaching their destination, and meeting there? At the moment, it's likely Borealis arrives last, as she was furthest north out of the current party, and likely Demeter and/or Hedera arrive first, considering their four-legged galloping speed. But we can go a different order if you'd all rather, considering Borealis has probably also been in pursuit the longest(?) and therefore likely to run into a few people along the way.
2nd: I initially had planned that this sleep spell won't further affect those who resisted until they get really close to its source (and then there'll be waaay worse things to worry about than sleep). So they are safe to sleep normally along the way. When we get there, though, would you rather we use dice and leave continued resistance to chance? Or no? Or we can leave it as dice optional, if y'all want?
Additionally, I plan to release more info about the setting and some of the bad things stirring as we go, but if any of you want to know some tidbits now, I'm absolutely happy to share! Sometimes it's nice having that extra info to plan with.
oH! I just remembered another thing: y'all are absolutely encouraged to intro and use various NPCs, but if you do you take on the responsibility of controlling them for as long as they're present/active in a scene. Thanks! And sorry if I'm yapping too much - I'm just so stoked, and it's my first time 'running' a plot like this.
