Brought together by war, a group of rogue teens form together cause to survive the rage of war that is spreading through the world. It's difficult to keep everything steady, but they seem to make it through alright, when suddenly, their hidden base is hit by an asteroid containing a chemical that gives the group superhuman abilities.
It may sound cliche, but it was all I could really think of.

Magic is fairly common. Players and NPCs important to the tale may have it. Mistborn.
Near future, perhaps cloning and genetic manipulation
More combat than not. The setting may be at war, and the characters will likely get involved whether or not they seek it out.
