red-veins

howdy everyone! I've been loving some cheesy romance related stuff, and I just can't get enough of it! I was thinking about some past RPs since none of my current ones involve too much lovey-dovey stuff.

what's your favorite romance moment that has happened in any RP? let me know in detail...i'd love to know! ;D maybe it'll give me some inspiration for my own.

my personal favorite was when a character of mine who had been abandoned by a lot of people in their life finally opened up to another who they finally learned to trust. lots of tears, lots of "PLEASE DON'T EVER LEAVE ME," you know, the good stuff. then they fell asleep with happy cuddling and they were happily ever after. except for not at all bc i'm evil (;
When after months of being apart because their friends with benefits relationship ended with a really gut wrenching fight, (because the other character was ready to be something more, but my character was too afraid and may have made out with a dude and other dude was jealous) they finally confessed their love and she asked him to be her boyfriend and now they are together and love each other so much. *cries*
Oh jeez. One partner and I have a pair of characters who just... It's a super unhealthy relationship between criminal peoples, but I just love it to bits, and they keep having problems and then managing to make up because they really do love each other but holy crap do they suck at being decent people.

One of the first moments with them that really stands out was when they shared their names. After getting intimate. Both use aliases and have some pretty deep paranoia and antisocial issues, so that was a much more significant sign of trust. That was each of them giving the other the power to ruin them.

Another thing that by no means seems romantic is a time they were faking his death, and she had to treat him like a corpse, tossing him around and kicking him (she also had to maintain her reputation and pretend it was just a paid gig, that they weren't a couple) to prove the point despite his grievous injuries. I mention it because even though they are pretty rough with each other on a regular basis, she was so scared that he would end up actually dead, and she was doing her best to make every blow a lot softer than it looked.
It took me a little time, but I finally narrowed it down to one. It was hard, but I persevered.

Ooc and in the rp (at least in one of the character's heads) it is referred to as The Pigcident. Basically the two characters are staying on a ranch and one morning the pig pen is left unlatched and some of the pigs get out. It's only him and her on the ranch and he's taking a pounding getting these pigs back into their pen so she offers to help, even though she's small and out of shape and not at all athletically inclined and pretty much the definition of a city girl. Still, he gives her clear instructions as to how she can help by blocking off the pig's escape route so he can get the drop on it. She does and he grabs it, but she's so focused on watching him haul the pig off, that she doesn't notice that another, much larger pig is coming over to see if she has any food on her. He knocks her over and manages to step on her leg, badly bruising it and causing her to scream out in pain. He's finally managed to get the other pig in it's paddock when he hears her cry. And there's just a great line in there about how he'd rather get kicked in the head a thousand times than have to hear her make that sound again. And he rushes over and pulls her out of the mud and she's shaking and injured and then this usually kind, gentle, sweet man suddenly looks at the pigs and barks at them in a truly commanding voice to back off. And I just loved the whole thing both for what it was and the character development it led to, him blaming himself for letting her help and her blaming herself for not paying enough attention.

There are tons of others in this rp alone along with other rps on this site and in the past, but this one stands out to me. I couldn't even say why exactly. It isn't sexy. There aren't any huge confessions. It's just one of the moments that really spoke to their characters and contributed to their relationship. And it was genuinely fun to read and write.

@damnationfromafar - fights always make for the best scenes I swear. I can't count the number of ships I've had that have set off after a nasty fight and the makeup that came after it //SOBS//

@Novalynn - yessss I love crime-related romances they're the GOSHDANG BEST. I can relate because my not-your-average-gang-leader gal is so aloof when it comes to relationships and doesn't show her affection, but when the people she cares about get hurt she's a pretty big darn baby. romances where they don't tell each other they have the hots is so spicy yuuum

@Dndmama - OMG I can't imagine how hilarious that scene must have been. even just that little synopsis was enough to make me laugh! xD I have to agree with you, scenes that aren't dramatic or sexy often end up being sweet in the weirdest ways. I guess in that way, bonding over pigs is a pretty unique one LOL.
Can...can I do another?

I'm gonna do another...

So, the two characters have been back and forth for over a week. He's made it clear he's interested but she's holding out for her own private reasons. It can't last though. The sexual tension is palpable. They want each other. Well, she decides, since she knows how badly he wants her, to torture him by getting herself all dolled up as sexy a she can to go to this party he's throwing for all his students. Just drive him nuts in a situation he can't get to her and probably cause all his students to make fun of him in the process. Oh man, does it work. As she walks in the door, he's mid speech to everyone around and he just stops in the middle of a sentence and staaaaaares because daaaaaaaamn. One of the people in the crowd actually throws something at his face to bring him back to reality. It doesn't stop there of course, but the piece de resistance happens after the party is over and everyone else has left. They're playfully arguing about something when she finally decides that she can't take it any more. The night's had her almost as worked up as it has him and it's just too much! "Shut up and kiss me!" she demands. They rush into a spirited embrace that will no doubt lead exactly where you would expect it to when suddenly.........

...........the main villain's henchman (though they haven't identified her as such yet) barges in mid-kiss/grope and completely destroys the mood. It was glorious.

Writer: Let me look at my characters....

Halasian: "It would be with my wife Forcwyn. We are very much in love and we have three kids. It is just the journey through life has been rocky. There were periods of deep passion and periods of strife and seperation. Being a ranger is not conducive to being a good family man with having to be away so much in distant lands...."

Writer Commentary on Halasian: He was my 2nd RP OC creation and has spawned a behemoth of a tale through his children, mainly his second born Hanasian. Halasian and Forcwyn's rocky relationship through the years if both quite romantic and tragic. Maybe I'll post the edited edition of their tale in the Creativity forum when I get a chance.

Actually, yeah, that reminds me. They don't say "I love you." Still. It just... isn't... them. But after over a decade (their son was about 10 last we played them) of all the crap they've been through together, plus the hours and hours of companionable silence, they each know where the other stands.

Their son speaks very openly of love, though. He's been raised on quality family movies, the best side of his parents (holy crap they're capable of smiling!), and also a cheerful, affectionate squirrel girl his dad kidnapped to keep him company. ^^;
What a great topic. I love reading about cheesy romance stuff too. And I totally have an answer for this question too, because I know some great romance writers.
(Cough-LadyOfGondor-and-LowRezCrab-Cough).

In fact, you might check this one off one out, if you're craving a little romance RP, but don't want it to be real involved and long term. Here is the link if you're curious. The writer is my friend and she's good and it's just like a strangers meet, walk together, and eventually kiss type-of-thing that was inspired by a song. The description explains it all.

Enough of my gushing. Now, on to the mushy stuff.

1. MEDIEVAL OUTLAW REDEMPTION

My first ever romance RP, a medeival one with my character David. It was a moment where he and the girl had battled evil magic-hating monks and gone through all these trials and tribulations together, and they were finally settled again, at her home and all was well. The female character was a girl who didn't realize her own beauty, and he tried to help her see that. Finally, after they had been through all that, she had been in a coma for a month, and he had been taking care of her, and she finally woke up. And as soon as she woke up, he knew that he was going to not let 24 hours pass before asking her to marry him. So, at the end of the first day after his girl wakes up, he tells her he has to go into town, and he'll be back by morning. And she's like "oh no...what's he going to do?" because he's a former outlaw that barely escaped the gallows. And she doesn't want to lose him the day she wakes up. But he goes to town and gets his things which he stored with a friend which include his mother's wedding ring. Needless to say, he comes back and proposes to her. But the moment that did everything for me, was when she said yes. It makes me want to cry right now...geez! But when she said yes, and actually..it was the moment I spent thinking about his reaction to her words that really got me. So like..him seeing her happiness. Him seeing her happiness that he had caused, knowing that she didn't realize her own beauty and now being faced with the ultimate proof that she is beautiful to him and fully accepted, the knowledge that he wants to spend the rest of his life with her.

The other roleplayer did the reaction to the marriage proposal so authentically...like I could see her reaction. It was just like watching a movie. And then as I was writing what David would feel at seeing her breaking down crying and repeating yes over and over again, and writing about how happy it made him feel to see her happy...finally...that made me cry. Out of nowhere. I was so surprised that I got that into a role-play that I started crying. It was like..."Woah...I didn't seen that coming." If I had been in a coffeeshop or something I would have been embarrassed lmao. It snuck up on me. All the emotions from the relationship hit me all at once. It was the skill of the other roleplayer, the authenticity that are built into her characters, the authenticity with which she writes the character's responses, that made that happen. It had nothing to do with my skill, it was the other roleplayer's skill, in my opinion, along with my skill, I guess, with building the story up to that point. It was so much fun. Also...I totally did a thing where he popped the ring out as a total surprise after hiding it under her bed and getting down on his hands and knees pretending to have to kill a spider and then popping up with a ring. Then he was already on his knees when he asked her, although she wouldn't have known why until the moment he popped the question. Lol. That was a funny scene to write.

I'm like, "how do I get him down on the ground without her knowing that he's getting down on one knee to propose to her?" There aren't a lot of reasons to get down on the ground, if you think about it. But I had never thought about it. So I'm proud of myself for that sneaky little trick.

Aaanyway on to number 2:

2. JUST WALKING, NO BIG DEAL...except it is, because...she's walking with him...and neither are alone.

A role-play I am currently doing inspired by a song. The whole thing. I can't. even. The moment she realized that walking home from work, although it usually seems like a long ways, didn't seem so long if it was a walk that he was going to be with her on.

Everything seems different when you're doing something with a person you're in love with. Mundane activities become exciting adventures. There's something about that, and something about my character thinking that thought about the other player's character, and writing those words, that made me tear up a bit. I like things that make me cry (due to happy stuff).

And that was only the second time that's ever happened to me.

3. HURT/COMFORT ROMANCE FIRST KISS

Another favorite moment I've written for a roleplay was when the roleplay wasn't even going on. I was trying to think of how to advance the plot and it just came to me, and I felt like the idea was so beautiful. That one's a little dark. The scene was basically someone wanting to kiss someone to heal them on the inside. It was a lot of dialogue that came to me that I really thought had a ring to it and that wasn't as emotional a thing to write perse, but it was beautiful. The idea just sort of came to me, and I wrote it, and I was all excited about. I wasn't emotional about it in the moment I was writing it, I was just excited about it because I thought it was good, and I knew my RP partner would love it. *smiles* I'm proud of that little bit of text. I dunno.

4. ANTI-HERO MAGNETIC GAZE

Oh! And recently, I created this villian. An anti-hero. Or maybe a villian who thinks himself a hero. I don't know. I was writing a response where the villan was looking at the girl in that way where his eyes followed her everywhere, because he's completely smitten with her, taken with her, obsessed with her. And I'm talking about the way his eyes are glued to her and things I'm saying start to rhyme and there's a freaking POEM on the page! And I'm like, "What the heck?" I'm writing poetry now? What just happened here? I loved that sentence so much. It was something like...

"His eyes stuck to her like water sticks to rain,
like heat sticks to a flame,
like darkness sticks to night,
like softness sticks to candlelight"

So I was all excited about that. I've never had such good writing come out of my head as when I have been role-playing this villian/anti-hero. I don't know what it is. He's just a really deep, dark character, and that inspires me for some reason. It's really weird. I love it. I finally understand why some actors like to play the "bad guys" in movies. I never understood that before now. Or why an actress would want to play a character like, for example, in Black Swan. With such a tragic life. But I understand it now. Sort of. It's like that darkness is an engine of creative force. Psychologist Carl Jung says that about his theory that we all have a shadow. Ego, persona, shadow...different parts of the total personality. He believed that the shadow is where creativity resides. Creative ideas that come from somewhere deep within--that it comes from the shadow. I don't know if that's true, but I'm starting to think he might be onto something. Not darkness like evil, just darkness like...hidden. In the shadows. Because you're consciousness doesn't see it. Idk.
Anyway the roleplayer that's doing the roleplay with my villian is the same person I did the first roleplay I mentioned with so it's great.

*Sigh* That was a lot of work. I don't know why I write such long answers to these things. Anyway, I loved this topic good idea and I can't wait to read everybody else's answers when I gave time.

Yayyyy! Mushy stuff!

Ah I have a roleplay between a male Qunari (dragon age fandom) who are more practical, rational and cold race, and a human female who's a troubled woman with mental health and commitment issues. It's an extremely unhealthy relationship, the two would hurt each other repeatedly, though not intentionally. Being a Qunari, their relationships with their own race is practical - they have to be strong individuals and healthy so they can have children and that's it. MC who's a human, she's unaware that what they have is romance. She feels everything far too deeply and doesn't know how to handle emotions and explodes at him if she feels overwhelmed. Fire and ice. But when something very bad happens around them, the two stick together and conquer the issue, usually then they become aware of how much they need each other in their lives and should one of them die (which is highly possible) the other one is surely going to suffer greatly.

After one of the training sessions, the two were in their tent, undressing as the heavy rain started to fall, which is rare since there it's usually snowing. He stood out while MC was tending to her scars completely shirtless and he called her over to see something. She came out to see Haven completely empty and there was silence, nothing but falling rain and distant thunder. The two just quietly stood and listened to the rain and allowed themselves to be soaked in it. After a bit, he remembered that she hated cold and realized that she stood with him in the rain to take in the scenery, rare silence alone with him. He wrapped his big arms around her to keep her warm and looked at her, my partner made a wonderful description of what she looked like in that moment and told her "You are the most remarkably beautiful creature I've ever seen in the rain."

It was a very rare romantic moment between the two of them and I cherish every remarkable moment between them, because it's so real and complicated. I never was a fan of cookie cutter relationships, there's a reason why this one's my favorite.
Honestly? Caroline talking to drunk Acaeus and taking him to bed despite. Trusting that a drunk man would end up loving only you is a huge risk. And she took it. As if she didn't have a doubt.

Also Hikaru and Acaeus first meet was a pretty incredible scene. So much it moved us to create a long never ending heart ache romance between the two.

I would say when one of my characters had accidentally gotten the woman they were having sex with, pregnant.

Their relationship was pretty toxic, as she was always hitting him for "being a pussy" in her eyes, whilst he has an inferiority complex to women and all that.

So this moment was when the child (once born of course, and able to speak OF COURSE) asked her parents if they loved each other. Mummy said yes. Daddy didn't answer. Then later that night mummy asked daddy why, they discussed the topic, and then made love. Actual love that time though.

Safe to say she isn't gonna hit him ever again. c:
