1. What's one thing that hurt you deeply?
It hurts me deeply that a lot of my family doesn't have a close relationship with us because of my mom's mental illness. For example, my Aunt will call and send a million cards, but will not visit us. Same thing with most of my cousins.
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
Hmm...this is hard. I don't normally do that. Maybe that's the reason I crave things like this and H/C roleplay and so on...it puts me in touch with my emotional side. Um...yeah. I cried when writing a really beautiful role-play thing but in REAL life? Maybe 4-5 years ago? Calling to tell my Aunt that my mom had had a stroke. Yeah, I remember crying then. No other times recently, like ever.
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
Hugs, caring attention, good music, getting out, going out to eat, seeing a good play, sweet messages, virtual hugs
4. Are you lonely right now?
Hmmm. Yes, I guess. Otherwise I guess I wouldn't be on here posting this. But I'm not alone.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?
My best friend in my old hometown who I've known since elementary school. Or my other best friend up in Iowa. Or here.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
*Sorry my list is LONG*
I'll Stand By You, by The Pretenders
Anything by Enya
"Everything's Alright" from Jesus Christ Superstar (for anxiety)
Hymns (if anxious or freaked out. That doesn't usually happen to me though.).
Anytime You Need A Friend by Maria Carey
Don't Analyze, by The Cranberries (for anxiety)
Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel
Hold on by Wilson Phillips
Song Sung Blue Neil Diamond
Sad Songs Say So Much by Elton John
"I get knocked down" by Chumpawumbah (sp?)
(to cheer up)
We Didn't Start the Fire by Billy Joel (to cheer up)
Songs from Les Mis (when angry, sometimes)
Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc. (when angry sometimes)
Anything by R.E.M. (for soothing)
Anything by Collective Soul, Owl City, Moody Blues, Richard Marx, Paul Simon...the list goes on and on. I'll stop there.
7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?
Enya makes me feel better, tons of good songs
8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?
Just inevitabilities that I don't want to think about, but nothing in the immediate future. Deaths and things. But no.
9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?
Attention from kind people, meditation, white noise (YouTube vids of waterfalls, etc), ASMR YouTube videos designed to calm people down, and good music
10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
No normally, but sometimes. Recently I had one, but ironically, I don't want to talk about it, even though I'm the one that wrote this survey and this question. Lol. It was about inevitable things thst happened to everybody that I don't like to think about and don't need to think about just yet.
11. What's one thing in the world that you are grateful for?
Music, friends, my wife, my mom, God
12. One regret?
I try not to have regrets. We can't change the past. No point in regrets. We just have to accept the present and move forward. But if I had to choose one maybe I would have gotten my mom to a doctor to start on blood pressure medication and asprin and things before she ever had a stroke but she doesn't like medicine, so it just wasn't destined to happen. Things turned out ok. She's ok. Oh!!! I have one. I regret getting a teaching degree instead of being a writer, a pharmacist, or a computer programmer. But hindsight is 20/20. It's all ok.
13. One thing you're proud of?
My role-plays, honestly. Lol. No, I'm...um...I'm proud that I think I'm a good person. I treat people well. I'm proud of the Bachelor's degree. Proud of my work as a pharmacy tech. Proud of my Google search abilities lol proud of my understanding of politics, science, literature, and things. My book-smarts.
14. One thing you wish?
Oooo...I wish for a supportive community that's like RpR, but in the real world. One of these days, I'm going to try harder to find one. Or create one, or something.
15. Virtual hugs?
Yesss. Lol. Always.

Thanks for answering this, Sukawo423!
*hugs to you*
Hm. Why not?
1. What's one thing that hurt you deeply?
Here's a silly one: In elementary school, I would often pluck flowers at recess to make little bouquets for the staff assigned to keep an eye on everyone. They always expressed gratitude and often complimented my skill, suggesting that I'd make a good florist when I grew up. (No, really, like 4th grade and I was being choosy about how I placed each flower and, like, using leaves to give them fancy wrapping and stuff.) What hurt was when my dad commented, not even rudely or anything, that "they'd probably like them more if you left them in the ground." Internally, I translated that as "You know they're just pretending to like it because you're a kid, right? After recess, they probably throw them in the trash." I had already kinda been thinking that and just ignoring it really well, but that gave me a reason to focus on it.
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
Oddly enough, last night. Because I've been going through a rough patch, and a friend text-emoted giving me a teddy bear and told me he was hugging a little stuffed toy I'd given him.
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
Varies. I mostly seek distraction. Talking goofy nerdy stuff often helps.
4. Are you lonely right now?
At this specific moment, no. But... lately, yes, I have been. And attempts to directly address that with me are very unlikely to succeed.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?
I text a friend a lot. When that's unavailable, sometimes I'll reach out to another. A lot of things I just swallow until I forget it.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
I've learned that music during negative moods can be a bad thing for me. Sad music makes me more sad. Happy music still makes me more sad (if it's not just annoying). Energy or angry music makes me want to break things and generally feel like I'm going crazy, especially if any caffeine is in the mix.
7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?
Sometimes I'm okay with something like Enya.
8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?
I don't really want to discuss it, but my insurance is currently verifying if I qualify for a 3-week "intensive outpatient" program for mental health that my therapist referred me to. She mentioned that I don't seem as close to breaking as most who get referred to it, but she also admitted that she had trouble getting a read on me through all the deflection.
9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?
Pretty much all my coping methods are unhealthy. I think the best I've got is reminding myself that emotions are normal, dark thoughts are more common than anyone wants to admit, and I do have issues that make things harder.
10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
My dreams are different all the time and I don't often recall nightmares.
11. What's one thing in the world that you are grateful for?
Brownies. They're yummy.
12. One regret?
Waiting so long to seek help.
13. One thing you're proud of?
I've learned to communicate much more effectively over time, although I still have a long way to go.
14. One thing you wish?
No.
15. Virtual hugs?
Not right now, thank you.

1. What's one thing that hurt you deeply?
I got bamboozled by an ex partner my dudes. Hooray.
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
Last night, actually. My lil kitten OB who'd been let out that morning by my dad came home covered in blood and limping and just not in good, optimal kitten condition. Don't worry, I got him cleaned up and inspected his wounds- nothing too serious. He got chicken for dinner that night so he was happy.
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
OB.
4. Are you lonely right now?
I'm alone, but not feeling lonely? I'm in a really good mood tonight.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?

Thems some music I guess.
7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?

9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?
Cats. And cuddles. Chocolate. The last two are both really good for you my dudes. (Mentally)
10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
The only nightmare I can remember other than the acid trip dream thing was the 'Sick' dream. It was just bright, flashing lights and trippy visuals and it was recurring throughout my childhood. I called it the 'Sick' dream, not because it was sickening to think about, but because I'd wake up sick the next day after having it.
11. What's one thing in the world that you are grateful for?
OB
12. One regret?
Is 'not finding my cat's unicorn' suitable?
13. One thing you're proud of?
Ah, uh, art. Boom.
14. One thing you wish?

Aight my dudes have my shitty music:
Lemaitre - Not Too Late
Studio Killers just in general, but probably Party Like It's Your Birthday
The Dismemberment Song (Title says everything)
A few songs of Bloc Party's (Such as Rhododendrons and Pioneers)
Foals' My Number & Mountain At My Gates
Girl In Red just, in general (But like, Girls makes me feel happy)
Real Friends' Late Nights in My Car

7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?
I guess my go to is Bloc Party?
8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?
Eh, I mean, I guess I've got an assignment to finish up that was due yesterday? Don't care for the class though. But yeah, not really I guess.

Ah, uh, art. Boom.
14. One thing you wish?
Is it selfish to wish for my cat to have a happy, healthy life? Aha. Ya'll can see my priorities ey?

I have several things that have hurt me deeply. Though I think there's nothing than losing someone who was very close to me. Knowing that I'll never be able to turn to them is surreal, maddening, and heartbreaking every time I'm upset and just used to know that there was someone there who would listen to me no matter how moronic or over emotional I got.
Despite this loss, I am happy to have been able to move on and make new connections since then. However, I will never forget the companionship and time that we spent together and the memories that we made.

I was watching a Trisha Paytas video, and she was talking about stuff similar to what I went through last year. While it has nothing to do with the above answer I have made, there was something that hit really close to home about how she talked about some relationships just have to end -- you just have to take it in stride and move on. That even if it sucks, that you can become a stronger and better person because of it. I teared up because of how closely I related to that sentiment.
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
My fiancé. He makes me feel like I can be vulnerable at any time, and it's nice to be able to talk to someone about all the weird stuff that makes me who I am. I talk to him about my weird obsessions and quirks that I've never really displayed in front of others, and it's just really nice to have someone to feel that comfortable around that even some stuff I'm really withdrawn and quiet about I can do in the comfort of his presence without feeling like I'm being judged.
4. Are you lonely right now?
Honestly... no. Maybe if this was asked last year, I would have said yes. But... I'm in a really nice place right now. I feel really good about myself in the socialising and not feeling lonely aspect.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?
Definitely my fiancé at first. However... if it kinda feels like he doesn't really know what to say or to tell me, I call my dad and ask him to weigh in on stuff that's bothering me deeply.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
Oh boy... I have... a whole bunch of songs that I listen to when I'm depressed or anxious. Sometimes the songs don't exactly make me feel better, but it allows me to take in the lyrics and focus on why I relate to those lyrics to figure out how to tackle what is bothering me. This in turn allows me to work on bettering myself and working to becoming happier... or as happy as I can manage.
Anything by The Neighbourhood. Literally all of their songs have this melancholic feel to them, and their lyrics generally speak to me, especially in some of my lowest points.
Tell Me by Red Vox
From the Stars by Red Vox
In the Garden by Red Vox
Heroes by Lawrence Trailer
Slow Mo by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
I Hurt Myself by Dan Bull
Of course, tho... it's not the same with every song. Sometimes I do need a song that I can actually dance to and just get the energy pumping so that I exhaust myself of my anxiety or depression if I can't exactly pinpoint it, or if there isn't exactly a reason for why I'm feeling the way I do at that time. And sure... feel free to judge me for my song choices here, but they get me in a good dancing mood. :9
Despacito by Luis Fonsi
Harajuku Iyahoi by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu
40 Years of Gaming by Dan Bull
Get Jinxed by Djerv
End of the Raging Waves from the Etrian Odyssey V Soundtrack
Other than that, I actually end up also writing a lot of my own songs. Whenever I'm really depressed or upset -- especially for a reason, the healthiest thing I do is write out my emotions in the form of lyrics. I usually hate a lot of my drawings and art if I end up drawing while depressed, upset, or anxious... but because my lyrics delve into a lot of putting that frustration into words rather than pictures, I end up liking the songs I write a lot, and end up working on them a lot over time to make sure they sound good.

100% The Neighbourhood. Their songs always have this... melancholic feel about them -- this is only enhanced (in my honest opinion) by the band's chosen aesthetic to keep everything grayscale when it comes to their official music videos and general band photos. RIP to My Youth is a personal favourite, followed by Honest, Wires, and Afraid.

I guess securing an out of the house job for the season? I ran into my old boss that hired me on for the holidays last year, and he brought up me working again, but... I told him I had to be on a more fixed schedule, only available for four days in a week. Said he'll think about it, so I'm really hoping that he liked me enough to take me back on this year. It wasn't a 'no' that he replied with, so I'm hoping for the best.
9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?

Sleep. But... I know a lot of people don't really get that luxury. So... when I personally don't have that luxury, I do my best to keep my mind occupied. Music, video games, studying... something that makes me focus on anything but allowing my mind to sit beside itself and keep myself in a state of anxiety. I generally do my best to force productivity in some respect that has my mind focused on leaning material. So... I absolutely do not do anything akin to house chores during all this, because I have only myself, and I run on this kind of autopilot when doing chores -- which doesn't bode well for being alone with my thoughts.
10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
I haven't had nightmares lately... but... I have been having dreams that I remember that... involve people I've moved on from... people who have moved on from me. It's not... a happy feeling when I wake up, that's for sure. If people want to classify them as nightmares, I guess that's fine... I just... don't?
11. What's one thing in the world that you are grateful for?

Definitely having my fiancé in my life right now -- he's been with me for almost eight years, and known me for nine. That, and having supportive parents -- and at least an understanding parent in one case. My mum, despite being supportive, doesn't always see where I'm coming from and isn't the greatest to talk to when it comes to emotions. But... my dad has always been such a great anchor for me when it comes to framing my mind in a way where I can just sit and digest on events that have made me upset or sad.

... It... might sound weird, especially with people that know how much I love this character, but... Manaka. And it's not so much the creation of her as a whole... it's really the origin of why she was created... how she was inspired. I still love her, and love developing the world setting that she's a part of... but... her origins lie with someone that hurt me really bad last year... and there's always this sting when I look back on all the old art I drew of her and the other characters from her inspirations....

Making new friends who understand me. Making friends who... accept me and recognise that I have flaws. Recognise that just because I have these flaws, that I don't inherently mean to harm, or mean to mess up as bad as I do sometimes. I'm so... happy and proud to have these friends who are willing to work with me when I do something that might not always be kosher, and are willing to educate me in the error of my ways... and are willing to listen to me when they step out of line from my perspective as well.

Two years ago, when my best friend's brother died. I saw some things I shouldn't have had to. My best friend hates me because I wouldn't let her see. She no longer talks to me. Her last words to me before she left were, "I wish it had been you instead." I know she was speaking out of grief, but I have never been so hurt.

No human I see in person, to be honest. Sometimes watching Supernatural helps; or just reading/listening to Jared speak about his depression. But very little drags me out of that pit.
4. Are you lonely right now?

So lonely. It feels like I'm wandering around in a void. I see people in the distance, but I can't get to them. I scream for help, but they can't hear. Or don't want to hear. I've always been the rock for my friends and family. The moment I crack, they step off and wander away, and I'm left all alone. I don't know what to do.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?

No one. Honestly, I talk to my posters of Sam, Dean, Legolas, Rey, and Doctor Strange because I'm scared to go to anyone. Anytime I've tried to talk, people either ignore me or try to one up me in whatever is going on in their life.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?

Colony House. Or any of my Celtic music.
7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?

Bon Jovi, actually. (I know, I know, not sad mood, but still) There are so many memories tied to me and my best friend sitting in the back of her truck at night just belting out "Livin' on a Prayer", "You give Love a Bad Name", and "Wanted Dead or Alive" anytime we were upset. Makes me cry and smile all at the same time.

Holy crap, yes. I am the oldest of five siblings. My only recurring nightmare is this:
I'm standing in the middle of a pure white background, like one of those sheets that you find at the Picture People shops. Just around me, everything is white. My siblings are with me. A man, dressed in all black, appears with a gun. I can't see his face. He doesn't ask for anything. He just shoots. I jump in front of the bullet, screaming for my siblings to run. They don't. They can't. I lay there as I watch each of them go down. I failed to keep my promise to my parents in that dream. I couldn't protect them.
I wake up crying every time.

Hm. Why not?

Thanks for doing my little survey, Nova. If you ever run short of nerds to talk about nerdy stuff with, feel free to shoot me a PM, if ya like. I literally watch TED Talks for fun so yeah...pretty nerdy (and I love it!). About number 8. I hope all goes well. Roger that, on the not wanting to discuss. I agree, brownies are awesome, nerd stuff is awesome, and it is hard to know when to seek help sometimes because we can't always see the big picture when inside a forest just trying to survive and navigate through all the trees. I don't know if music helps you like it does me but here's a song that I find really soothing that i was introduced to by LadyOfGondor on a day when I was worried/anxious. It might seem weird because it's from a musical but just ignore the story part.
Everything's Alright from J.C.S.S.
Also "Don't Analyze" by The Cranberries is a good one:

10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
*Hugs* That sounds awful. Sounds like you must have been worried a lot about as a kid about how to protect them. That must have a lot of responsibility being the eldest of 5.
I know it's not the same -- but I remember briefly when I was watching my best friends new baby for week, I kept having this nightmare that and had turned into a little speck so tiny that I couldn't see her, and then I dropped her on the floor and lost her. It sounds silly, but in the dream it was scary of course. I was so glad when that was over so I could stop having that weird dream. So I can imagine how feeling responsible for 4 siblings over a period many years would create some complex issues in the subconscious mind that might come out in dreams. But that must suck to have that recurring, and wake up crying like that every time. *Big hugs* x 100

Personally, I appreciate every word you chose to share with us. I think it's a privilege, and an honor, to be confided in. So thank you for sharing with me and everybody, that honor. I value every word you've shared with us. And it was interesting to read, too. So don't be sorry. It's great to get to know people in ways beyond what their favorite drink at Starbucks is and that kind of crap. I love it that you took the time to fill this out. And that's sweet of you to offer to listen to anyone's problems because you've been through a lot. Yep. Also, I want to extend the same invitation to you. If you'd ever like to talk or vent or just chat about mundane stuff and you don't have anyone to talk to, feel free to talk to me.
Oh! And I dunno if you have run across the RpR group Here For You yet, but in case you haven't, here's a link to it. It's like a support group. Sanne is the one who came up with it, and she's so sweet. People post in there to vent, give advice, encourage each other, all that good old cheesy stuff that we all need but don't admit that we need. I love it.
Here's the link in case you're interested in that, or want to share it:

Two years ago, when my best friend's brother died. I saw some things I shouldn't have had to. My best friend hates me because I wouldn't let her see. She no longer talks to me. Her last words to me before she left were, "I wish it had been you instead." I know she was speaking out of grief, but I have never been so hurt.
*Big Hugs* I'm sorry
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
Sunday. I had a panic attack for some weird reason and broke down. Had to hide in the bathroom for a solid thirty minutes.
Aww. *More hugs*
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
No human I see in person, to be honest. Sometimes watching Supernatural helps; or just reading/listening to Jared speak about his depression. But very little drags me out of that pit.
*hugs anyway*
I know that feeling. </3 sorry. I'm here for you.
Awww. You're pulling all my heart-strings here. I wish I could hug you but I'll have to settle for a ridiculously large number of virtual hugs instead. *Hugs you × 100*
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
Colony House. Or any of my Celtic music.
I love me some Celtic music.
Makes perfect since as a cheer up band. Singing "Living on a prayer" is so fun. It's optimistic...and carefree...I love that song, I sing it when I do karaoke sometimes!
8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?

Everything? My anxiety has gotten worse. To me, something feels like something terrible is going to happen this year. I don't know how to explain it. I just have this really bad feeling. I'm honestly scared to step out of my house at times because I worry so much.
*Hugs for that* I'm sorry.
9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?
I don't think I've found a way. I honestly just grin and bear it until it crushes me.

10. Do you have nightmares and about what?

Supernatural? LotR? Star Wars? Things that aren't real, I know for sure. I love my family, but...we've gotten into some issues. It's been hard. Same goes with friends.
Long live science fiction and fantasy!
12. One regret?
That I never told my friend that I forgive her and that I love her.
13. One thing you're proud of?

Loving people unconditionally. I know what it's like to feel so lost and alone. I don't want them to have to go through what I've been through. I'm always here for anyone who needs to talk.

Cats. And cuddles. Chocolate. The last two are both really good for you my dudes. (Mentally)

Real Friends' Late Nights in My Car
Annapantsu in general

1. What's one thing that hurt you deeply?
When my baby brother deleted my minecraft file.
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
My sister made a joke and I cried because it was late, and when it's late I laugh a lot.

4. Are you lonely right now?
A few months ago I would say "yes", but I'm not so sure now since I do have some friends but we don't talk a lot. Either way, I don't /feel/ lonely at the moment so I suppose the answer is no.
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?
I don't think I've ever talked about my emotions or anything like that. So nobody.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
I can't listen to music that much, so I dunno.

8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?

12. One regret?

... It... might sound weird, especially with people that know how much I love this character, but...
13. One thing you're proud of?
Making new friends who understand me. Making friends who... accept me and recognise that I have flaws. Recognise that just because I have these flaws, that I don't inherently mean to harm, or mean to mess up as bad as I do sometimes. I'm so... happy and proud to have these friends who are willing to work with me when I do something that might not always be kosher, and are willing to educate me in the error of my ways... and are willing to listen to me when they step out of line from my perspective as well.

Thanks for answering the survey. I agree, sleep existing is a good thing, I get what you mean there. Like, imagine a world with no night and no sleep and that would be a scary movie. Hmmm....that might be a good writing idea for a short story wow.
1. What's one thing that hurt you deeply?
Not being understood by my own parents and that I am not neurotypical and needed more help than I got. It set me up for a lot of failure as an adolescent that could have been avoided and made my life better if my needs had been recognized and met, rather than being dismissed and forced into a box that doesn't work for me. It's been 5 years or more since I got therapy to address the lifelong consequences of this.
While I probably have been emotionally hurt deeply by an individual, I think the impact from this has been so severe that it's worth being categorized as being hurt deeply.
2. When's the last time you cried and why?
Yesterday morning, after I woke up sick and in pain for the many-th day in a row and felt emotionally worn down from it! I try to cry often to process such feelings though.
3. Who/what makes you feel better when you're feeling sad?
My cats and my roommate!
4. Are you lonely right now?
Nope!
5. Who do you call when you need someone to talk to?
I don't really call anyone on the phone. I mostly talk to people who understand my situation and/or feelings, which varies per person.
6. What songs do you listen to when you're sad or anxious that make you feel better?
I'm never in any particular mood for music. I do sometimes listen to sad, melodramatic or intense music to help validate my feelings (it's an alternative to crying for me).
7. What's your favorite "sad mood" band?
No one band/musician or whatever. I mostly go for electronic music though.
8. Anxious about anything in particular in the future that you'd like to talk about?
My health and finances. My situation is a bit complex right now, money is super tight and it's making everything ten times harder.
9. What's the best way you've found to deal with anxiety?
I've applied techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy, but I've also discovered strains of marijuana that ease anxiety and depression without all the nasty side-effects from meds like Xanax.
10. Do you have nightmares and about what?
Sometimes, I usually don't remember what they're about though. I only know they're often about real-life events or feelings that I struggle to deal with.
11. What's one thing in the world that you are grateful for?
That I had the ability to grow and become a better person, despite the issues I faced as I was growing up. I'm grateful I better understand my privilege in life so that I can help others gain the same privileges (by eradicating inequality that is), and I'm grateful for negative experiences to help me understand how people work and how to recognize problematic behavior in myself as well.
I know it's technically more than one thing, but it feels related!
12. One regret?
Not having had more time, or making more time, to spend with my best friend before he died.
13. One thing you're proud of?
All the wonderful accomplishments and progress all of my friends have made! I know many of them have their own problems to deal with, and I can't help but always admire when they grow as individuals and move forward in life.
14. One thing you wish?
To not have disabilities.
